  1. Hi...so for anyone that maybe comes here in search of info about superskoda shades. I ordered 3 peace shades for hatch (Octavia 3, MY16). They arrived in 3 days which is excellent. However, rear window shade does not fit. I checked their video (which btw does not demonstrate this for my model of car but older one I guess) several times. I read on screen instructions multiple times before started. You dont have to be scientist for this kind of work. In short, shades are not properly cut for 3rd stop light part on rear window. Shades have very oval cut out and it goes over this plastic housing. That causes a frame to be too far away from glass so those sticker clips fell off in a few minutes. I have stuck the shade under the trim towards bottom of glass as much as its possible, still not enough. There is no possible way to fit those on my car. Car is stock, never did anything with trim or rear hatch. I of course contacted superskoda about it, we'll see what they say. I have not attempted rear side windows yet until I resolve this with superskoda. If nothing, i will try to improvise something, but i simply dont see how to fit those without them lumping when driving. But it all points to a wasted 100 EUR.
  2. Exactly the same problem with my hatch version. Granted car is over 5y now, but still I would not expect to change struts so early. When opening the boot, I will almost zero help of the struts, even after 50% way up..
  3. Hi folks. I have one question. Does new skoda app work for us that have older models (my is MY16) without skoda connect? In the old MySkoda app I used to have some usefully things as well as digital service history. Then all of a sudden this app was killed and i was advised in that app to go and use new app. I did login, I added my car and that's all i can do. I cannot see absolutely anything for my car, just a message to go to dealer to activate SmartLink, which I do not want to pay for.
  4. Happens to me quite often, and its not that cold either... around 2-3 C and screen stops reacting. Luckily dials work so I can wiggle out of stuck screen with those. Weird...
  5. There she goes... Used long pliers and fingers. It was very easy to wiggle it out into the tank and a bit harder to actually pull it out of the tank. Under a minute job with tank I have.
  6. My car was at the dealer about 4 or 5 times regarding coolant changing color (quickly) from pink to brown. It was already like that when I purchased the car and luckily warranty was still active. Over a year they were trying to fix it. Flushed countless of times, changed thermostat, EGR cooler, expansion tank, heater matrix. Last thing they changed was front radiator and since then coolant color is great. However I did notice that during this last fix they also changed (again) expansion tank and now it has silica bag in it. I am a bit conflicted what to do with it. Car is now out of warranty of course.
  7. SWF are the OEM and they are, imho and experience, much better then Bosch Aerotwin. If you can find SWF go for those instead.
  8. Sometimes garage will make more mess they you yourself because you will care more (it is your car after all, not theirs) and be very careful, where as they are in a hurry to get it done. Of course it depends on garage but still...i trust myself more.
  9. Regarding look of that expansion tank...Had the same issue on my car (2015, 1.6 tdi) and garage is fixing it for over a year (in warranty). Yours on the image looks like system is full of gunk and rust. Mine looked the same. Although I did not have heating issues. Regarding heating, try to recalibrate air went flaps. I do not think heating core is the clogged because you do have heating on one side..
  10. True. But i never noticed it during the night.
  11. Wear polarised sunglasses, I do not see the reflection with them on. Of course, only on sunny and/or bright days... But that is the only time I see the reflection anyway so...
  12. Change went fine. Adaptation with obdeleven also went ok. After change I did about 5 min drive and turned off car 3 times. Scanned with obd , got 9 errors and cleared them all. No further errors. only thing is that now start stop does not work. I can activate it via physical button but when i pull over startstop icon is crossed on maxidot. I do not think car is doing regen, rpm is 700 and engine sounds usual.
  13. Just in case anyone knows what should be the brand name code for Exide battery?
  14. Purchased new AGM (Exide) battery and will change it this weekend. I will also try to do battery adaptation using OBD eleven and will post here short summary of how everything goes.
  15. I can also hear engine sounding different when I press the accelerator if active regen is in process. That is the 3rd sign of active regeneration on my car (besides already mentioned two). 4th is that if regen is active, Start Stop will be turned off automatically.
  16. Well given that I have seen some reports that these kind of updates directly affect basically how engine operates, gas/diesel/air mixtures etc, some people experience either worse gas mileage or some other types of changes which are bad especially in the long run. That last part is important to me as I plan keeping a car for a longer period. I am not giving all the credits to these reports, but neither do I trust main dealers or Skoda for that matter, given that I know how these "green facts" are more important to them then their customers and cars. But, as I said, I do not think I can argue much because car is still under warranty for 2 months.
  17. I checked today for my car (1.6 TDI, 2015, 5s manual) and I got positive check from skoda recall tool. I then mailed my garage and they explained it like this: I doubt I will get more detailed explanation. On all affected TDI vehicles there is a possibility that with increased mileage due to the thermal aging process of NOx storage catalyst there will be reduced catalyst activity, and thus in the further course of aging and an increase in the value of exhaust gases during the heating phase. Updating the software reduces the emission of harmful substances. The software update does not have any negative consequences for fuel consumption, CO2 emissions, engine power, maximum torque, sound emissions or endurance of the engine or exhaust aftertreatment system. I already got a date with the garage for some other things next week so I will be checking this thread. Though car is still under warranty so I do not think I have the privilege to say no to this update.
