Hope everyone is holding up well in these strange times.
As title says, I currently have 19" Xtremes on my VRS in the silver but theyre all a bit scuffed so needing a refurb. However I'd like to change them to black but retain the diamond cut pattern. Anybody in the South East Wales area got recommendations for who I could use to do a good job? I get that at the moment it's a bit of a non starter, but once this is all over it's top of my to do list.
If the picture works then the top is my current set up and below what I'd like it to look like.
Cheers

2. No experience of the iOS version. I read it had been constantly delayed though? Android for me. Android devices can be picked up for pennies.
I am very much in the apple camp in terms of devices owned, but that was another option of buying a cheap android device soley for the purpose of OBDEleven. Obviously iOS would be easier and cheaper, but if android works better then it's worth it I guess.
-
I’d like to give this whole OBDEleven thing a go. But I have a few questions that I’m hoping someone can answer:
- what sort of things can I actually enable/alter on my car (2017 fl vRS). Is it able to add things like sign recognition, high beam assist etc?
- Has any body got any experience using the iOS version?
- is it worth paying the extra for pro and what’s the difference? Pro is currently €99 for “next gen device” and 400 credits (not sure what they’re for)
starter pack €69 for ”next gen device” and 200 credits
- how easy is it to use, I like to think I’m pretty technically minded but is it fairly straight forward to use and make changes?

For starters, stick the registration in something like TotalCarCheck - before you pay for a full check it'll give you info like this:
Manufacturer Skoda Model Octavia Vrs 245 Tsi S-A Colour White Vehicle Type Car Fuel Type Petrol Engine Size 1984cc Euro Status 6b BHP 245 BHP
Awesome thank you for that, I use the Vehicle Smart app usually but BHP isn’t one of the things it shows so this is great to know.
Thanks everyone else for your responses too. 👍
Oh in case anyone is interested...it’s a very well equipped 230.

Forgive my ignorance, but as the title suggests how can you tell if a VRS is a 230 or 245?
My brother in law has asked me to go look at a facelift petrol vRS estate but I s there an obvious way of knowing, just so they don’t try pulling a fast one saying it’s one or the other.
It was so much easier buying my oil burner!🙈

Forgot to say, I didn't have a needle thin enough to clean all the way through so I cleaned mine out once removed by using a blow off nozzle to blow the gunge out and a bit of 1.6mm mig welder wire. However, I've read somewhere on here about someone stripping a sandwich bag tie down for the very fine wire and using that to rod it out. Also, maybe soaking it in some kind of cleaning agent might break the dirt down.

I asked a similar question the other day and and was helped out on here, removed, cleaned and re-installed and working perfectly now.

The wheel specialist in cwmbran would probably be your best bet, not cheap but very good quality work
Excellent thank you, I'll check them out...I don't mind paying more as I want it done properly.
21 hours ago, Stoofa said:...just the hassle of having to run on skinny for a bit and the cost of course. Will get it sorted once the weather allows for skinny use for a couple of days.
That was my other question...the actual process. I did see one company that offered temporary wheels so your car wasn't off the road but I think that was based on you having all 4 done. As you say, driving around on the space saver isn't really ideal.

Forgive me if this is the wrong place to ask this.
After a unfortunate incident involving a multi story car park kurb and one of my nice shiny 19" xtreme wheels 😪 I'm after a refurb.
Anybody in the South Wales area got any recommendations? I'm in Monmouthshire and a quick google shows most of them to be around the Cardiff area but would prefer to use one thats been tried, tested and recommended.

I’ve only had the car a few months and it’s always been a bit of a dribble but just figured that was how it was...evidently not!
At least now I know it’s easy enough to pop the nozzle off periodically and make sure it’s clean. -
Job done thank you, it was absolutely full of gunk.
The hardest part was was trying to align the jets again so it wouldn’t be spraying pedestrians!
-
As title says, got a blocked rear wash nozzle. Tried cleaning with a needle and it cleared momentarily then blocked up again so think a proper clean is needed.
How do you actually remove the nozzle?
thanks in advance

I did look at that but I don’t have an Android device and I don’t think it works with IOS? Also, wasn’t sure how easy it was to use, didn’t fancy fudging up my motor! -
As title suggests, I'm looking for someone in the South East Wales area with VCDS who can activate a couple of extras on my 2017 FL TDI VRS - Traffic Sign Recogntion and Adaptive Front Lighting and possibly anything else that I don't know about that would be useful.
I know there's a section listing people with the kit and their areas but as there's a few listed figured this was easier than spamming peoples inbox.
Also, on a side note. Is it possible to "cast" video to my infotainment screen from my phone? For example, I was waiting to pick the wife up the other day and watching the rugby on my phone and would of loved to of watched it on the bigger screen. I believe I have an Amundsen system?
Cheers

I’ve been pointed in the direction of checking the rear vents behind the bumper on my car to check they are opening correctly and see if that helps with my wind noise issue.
I’ve had a quick search but can’t seem to find a guide for accessing them from in the boot area (hatchback).
Is there any guides or is it just a case of following your nose and pulling things out?

Honestly thought from reading the thread title that the OP wanted the wind noise sorted using VCDS.
actually that would be great as it appears there’s currently no solution to it.

I've had my car for about a month now (17 plate f/l vrs tdi) and I love it, except for the wind noise. I read a fair bit about it before buying along with general road noise and just assumed it was people being over critical, but it is quite bad. I know its been much talked about but has anybody found a real world solution?
Also, I asked on a previous post about things such as adaptive headlight assist/high beam assist/traffic sign recognition being activated on my car and was told it can be done by someone with VCDS but was wondering if these are just things already there but hidden being turned on or are they being added to software? In other words, if I found someone locally who would/could do it is it likely to cause any issues? Basically I don't want to stuff up my nice new motor.
Cheers, Lee

So, my bulbs turned up today and fitted courtesy/reading lamps, glovebox and boot but the footwell lights are a different beast altogether. I couldn't seem to get the rear ones out (not sure if theres a trick) so moved to front passengers which came out easily enough but it appears to be different to the boot and glovebox. Do I just need to jimmy that metal cover off first and then stick bulbs in?

If you are ever up in North Wales I can activate everything that can be coded hopefully you can find someone near you
Thank you, very kind indeed. As you say, hopefully someone nearby can help me out, although the idea of driving from bottom to top of Wales in my new car does appeal....

Great, thank you. It was Osram bulbs I used on my previous car with no troubles so will re-order once I get in and see what/how many bulbs I need.

Also, this VCDS thing... what’s the deal?is that something independent garages have or can anyone have/use it? How do I find someone near me who could do the mods?

Brilliant thank you

Hi all,
Recently became the happy owner of a 17 plate facelift Octavia VRS TDI 4x4 hatchback in quartz grey with black pack, which is all very nice even if a mouthful, but have a few questions that I've tried looking for on here but couldn't find answers (I have been accused by my wife of "looking like a man" so I probably just didn't look properly).
I'm new to Skoda/VW group so forgive my ignorance but here goes...
1 - I see a lot of people saying they have an MY17 or MY16 etc, what is this and how would I know what I have?
2 - Things like High Beam assist/Light assist/My mirror dipping when reversing, I don't seem to have these and from reading here think they can be turned on...is this a dealer thing or does it have to be some witchcraft done by someone else?
3 - I replaced my old interior lights in my previous car with LEDs. I can't believe they could put LED headlights, fancy LED strips on the doors and then cheaped out with rubbish yellow dim halogens inside. Anyway, I've read mixed things in here about people doing it and having problems and others having none. Is that just a bulb issue, if so any recommendations?
Thats all I can think of at the moment, but I'm sure I'll think of some more at some point 🙈
Cheers in advance
