  1. Many thanks Citigouk. Those are very interesting. One thing that has occurred is the cam belt. I've seen previous posts where Skoda say the change interval is 160,000 miles but Skoda GB recommending a change at 4 years. Do I take it yours has not had the belt changed? John
  2. Our Citigo SE 60 ASG is just approaching 50,000 miles and three and a half years' old. Today we've done a 100 mile road trip through the Trough of Bowland and down the M6 from Lancaster. We never fail to be impressed with how well it performs on all types of road and still turns in 60+ mpg. 60 bhp doesn't sound much but I have to remind myself that it's almost twice what my first cars had! However as we are just a whisker away from 50,000 miles I'm wondering if there are any horror stories waiting around the corner. Have any other Citigo owners passed this milestone and what have your experiences been? Thanks John
  3. At the end of the day, it's an emergency spare wheel and it's better than a true spacesaver and much better than the tyre repair kit. For a comparison of tyre diameters and the effect on the speedometer, try https://tiresize.com/calculator/. I have used this site since my early Yeti days. For what it's worth, my own Octavia is on 16" wheels with 205/55-16 tyres (I chose this spec as I have a set of winter wheels in that size for ski trips) but I have a spare wheel kit I bought for a previous Yeti. The Yeti was on 225/50-17 tyres as standard but the Skoda spare was a 195/60-16. I have put that in the Octavia spare wheel well. At 195/60-16, the calculator shows very little difference in speed readings and the tyre is appropriately speed and load rated. Actually more appropriate than on the Yeti which had W rated tyres and was wildly over-tyred for a 1.2!! As I said, much better than a spacesaver or a repair kit. John
  4. Town traffic, but indicative of our regular consumption. Our 1.0 Octavia DSG Estate is getting 48 'ish. John
  5. Just taken this picture in our Citigo 60 SE. This is in the range of our normal mpg figure and on a long run, using motorways and with a sensible right foot, we would definitely get 500 miles on a tank. John
  6. It would seem my new Octavia Estate also has this (sorry for poor pics). john
  7. I never expected it to have been so apparently controversial! Seems like there's a whole movement against what is seen as under-sized engines. Fact is in our case we went from a Superb 4x4 170 TDi DSG Estate to a 1.2 DSG Yeti. Yes, I noticed the reduced performance but not where it mattered. We travel to Austria winter and summer. Three adults with top-box on car. The Superb cruised effortlessly at 65/70 mph (it's a marathon, not a sprint). The Yeti also cruised effortlessly at 65/70mph. The 1.0 Octavia has both greater power and torque with more space than the Yeti and better aerodynamics. Having experienced a Nissan Leaf for 9 months, I have to say that given the choice of a small Euro 6 non-diesel engine or an electric car with seriously compromised range, the Octavia 1.0 wins hands down every time. John
  8. Just thought I'd post this. Early days and only reflects local running with one or two people on board, but that's mostly what we do. John
  9. On a Skoda Facebook group, I sustained some quite rude comments over my choice of an Octavia 1.0 Estate. It was my choice and it's certainly living up to my expectations. John
  10. I'm in a similar boat having had two Yeti 1.2 DSGs like you but am in my third week with an Octavia 1.0 DSG Estate. It's great. a 70 cruise is an east 2,200 rpm and we've averaged 48 mpg since we got the car. John
  11. I'm now at the end of the second week with a new Octavia 1.0 SE Estate with DSG. If I trust the computer, it's done 47.5 mpg over 550 miles. The engine feels quite tight but performance is OK and subjectively feels no worse than the 1.2 Yeti DSG it replaced. Despite what another poster has said, I don't have any problems getting up to 70 on the motorway at which speed it's doing around 2200 rpm. So far, so good then.
  12. My new SE also doesn't have a CD player. Interestingly the Superb Sportline that the dealer lent me to take on holiday did have a cd/dvd player. John
  13. This is a very interesting topic. We have a 2015 Citigo SE 60 ASG. According to the computer we are consistently getting 55 mpg plus and frequently over 60. We bought our Citigo in April this year with 43k miles (now 47k) having traded a Nissan Leaf. We bought the 2014 Leaf in July 2017 and so wanted to like it. Unfortunately it was probably the most soul-less car we've ever had. OK if you want a car to be no more than a household appliance. However the final straw was at Easter this year when after a cold winter we were struggling to get more than 50 miles range from a battery charge. I appreciate that things are moving along on the electric front but not that quickly. It has become something of a crusade therefore to get as many miles per tankful as we can. It makes me smile when our car says it only has fuel for 60 miles for e.g. ! As an aside we recently went to Austria in a 3 week old Superb 1.4 Sportline that had been loaned to us by the dealer as our new Octavia 1.0 Estate had not been delivered. With a 65 litre tank, and averaging just over 50 mpg, we could almost have done the run from East Lancashire to the Austrian Tirol (via Hull to Rotterdam) on one tankful of petrol about 750 miles John
  14. I have to say that we have had our 2015 Citigo SE 60 ASG since April. With 47k miles on the clock, it still feels very refined and has not knocks or rattles. John
  15. I've only just passed 100 miles and the display is showing 41 mpg. I'm hoping for better as the engine (and yours) must be pretty tight. See the photographs re drive modes. Mine has a Bolero system. The options are there but whether they do anything I haven't had time to check. There was a reason why we didn't go for a Tech, I think it was the finance deal. John
  16. Observations. I wasn't sure if we would get the automatic headlights switch poition. We didn't. I didn't expect a rear centre armrest. We've got one (with a "ski" hatch). We appear to have Front Assist. I didn't expect it but presume its part of the adaptive cruise control. We appear to have Drive Mode Select, or at least there is a configurable option in the setup. John
  17. While on holiday with the llocal an Superb, we tried to think of a name for "cheapskate blue". my wife came upmwith Canny Blue and Savvy Blue....the thinking person's colour. j
  18. And here it is. Octavia 1.0 SE DSG Estate in Energy Blue. Extras fitted are: Rear side airbags and crew protection Adaptive Cruise Control Heated front seats Floor mats Net partition Colour Maxi-Dot display Electrically adjustable and heated mirrors. John
  19. Ordered 22nd February, collecting today, 9th July. 137 days! John
  20. I totally agree Peter. Don't get me wrong, they aren't perfect but then who is? Thing is that when there has been a problem, they have gone the extra mile to explain their position and try to come to some accommodation. We have never come away feeling that we have been got at or turned over. John
  21. Mine is also in the UK. However my dealer told me that in my case, they need to get it registered by the end of the month therefore when cars are being collected by the transporter, they will prioritise cars that are up against a registration deadline. John
  22. No problem. The dealer is Simpsons of Colne. I get the impression that some people have had mixed dealings with Simpsons. Indeed I recently posted over what I considered to be very high servicing costs but that in itself was not an issue relating to Customer Service simply their costing model. However, they really have looked after us this time and indeed over the years. My last Skodas 10 (including the new Octavia) have come from Simpsons. Special mention this time to Sales Executive Ben Murray and Sales Manager Paul Gaskell. I would and have recommended Simpsons to many people. John
  23. I believe my Octavia Estate is now in the UK but I'm off to Austria in a one month old Superb Sportline Hatch, 1.4 DSG, provided by my dealer FOC. I have only had to meet the cost of insurance as their company insurance only covers UK. Hopefully when I get back in a couple of weeks I'll simply hand back the Superb and take my Octavia. I simply can't fault the dealer. John
