  1. Well I have a MIB2 in a 2017 Rapid and I updated to 2024/2025 maps and I just updated the Speed Cameras with the new download and it seems fine.
  2. I am getting checksum errors when I try to unzip ECE 1 2024/2025 CW 25/2024 I then downloaded ECE 5 and it worked ok - I only want the UK so it is ok, copying to my card as I type.
  3. I think PCBBC posted the details on this thread 18 June 2023 it worked well on my MIB2 standard.
  4. The map need patching as well, it is all on this thread - but it is a long and winding thread.......
  5. My 2017 Mib2 with Dab only needed the V12 maps and the patch, no VCDS.
  6. Well traffic messages were working in my cracked MIB2 today.
  7. I can understand failing spark plugs causing unburnt fuel but I would expect it to go out the exhaust and maybe give rough running. The smell was coming in through the cabin vents but not if I had it on recycled air. Indeed the important thing was it was fixed and at no extra cost to me, it was literaly giving me headaches................
  8. I went all round the engine with a fine tooth comb looking for one of the obvious reasons and I couldnt find one, I am familiar with with working on cars as for a long time in my life I regularly did 40,000 miles a year commuting and could only afford to do the work myself. I have no reason to disbelieve the mechanic.
  9. My point about the smell and the cause was to help identify the cause of the problem to others, there are meny posts on this site that point towards crankcase breather - this was different. It was not a critisim about Skoda service or service intervals, my car has always been serviced from new by a Skoda main dealer and I have been happy with the service.
  10. My low milage 2017 Skoda Rapid 1.2 TSi has been suffering from smells in the cabin that i thought were exhaust or crankcase breather. when you stopped at say traffic lights after about 20 seconds the smell would start from the air vents or start as you drove away and then dissipate as you drove, on a M6 long motorway trip when stopping in traffic it was terrible and I was getting headaches. I looked for the cause, changed the cabin filter, had the exaust checked, looked for a broken crankcase breather etc etc. Eventually booked it into my local Skoda deaker in Crewe and yesterday while I waited they diagnosed the problems - failing spark plugs causing unburnt fuel. I don't fully understand how this was getting into the cabin and not going out the exhaust but new spark plugs solved the problem and the car is now smell free. As my car was booked in for for its normal service in a months time on a service and extended warrenty plan there was no charge. I had not experienced misfires or rough running. The mechanic said he could tell the problem when he lifted the bonnet and smelt what I thought was a normal engine smell. Very pleased with the outcome.
  11. The "Free Speed Cam Updates" web site got back to me with the reply : "Yes only the needed files are update config files does not need to be updated with new data so remain the same"
  12. I found BigAde's 4 dec 22 post and downloaded and installed them this morning (thanks it worked perfectly). I got done for speeding recently in Northumberland and was looking for later dates, I did the online course....... That Free Speed Cam site claim to regularly do updates, the odd one out is the VW precomplied that says it is updated but has internal dates of 2016? I have left them a comment but others have already spotted the date issue.
  13. Hi, On the original post on this topic it points to https://free-speed-cam-updates.web2diz.net/ and says VW Pre Compiled Database , I have done that but the internal dates of the files are 2016 even though the link says Speed Camera for Volkswagen (compiled) 3.33M – update 02/10/2023 . Am I missing somthing? Are updated ones held somewhere else on the web. Thanks
  14. I did reply to Skoda and suggested they read this thread, I commented that they could come up with a solution but probably simply don't want to.
  15. Just received this from Skoda Support, shame they don't read this forum to find out what has really happened and what is actually possible: Dear *********, Thank you for your patience, and we are sorry for the inconvenience. The Škoda relevant department would like to inform you that the service you are referring to, i.e. the TMC service over FM RDS radio services, is provided by a third party. According to the information available to us, the UK TMC service provider has ended broadcast of TMC on the British territory over FM RDS radio services. On some vehicles, traffic services can continue to be received online via Infotainment Online services, as well as by use of third-party online navigation on the display using Apple CarPlay/Android Auto with either free to use services (e.g. Google maps / Apple maps) or many other alternative providers using a subscription. Unfortunately, our company is not able to influence such decisions of third parties in any way. Kindly accept our sincere apologies for the inconvenience caused to you. We hope that within this answer the complaint will be resolved to your full satisfaction, and you will continue to favour the ŠKODA brand. With kind regards, Support for Digital Services ŠKODA AUTO a.s T: 00800 80 247 247 *****@*****.tld, www.skoda-auto.com
  16. I take the V12 patched and the current version of the maps with me on a MIB2, it is not instantaneous but could take 5 mins to pick up the traffic messages.
  17. I would agree, in Cheshire I am seeing far more traffic alerts than back in January with Trafficmaster.
  18. VAG group cards have a specific CID (card identification number) on them that the device checks. You can't change this by formatting or copying the maps onto the card. you can buy SD cards with the correct CID on them from Aliexpress and some old SD cards can have the CID modified by specific software. The easiest way is to use your existing genuine card or buy a genuine card from eBay with old maps. I bought a genuine 16gb Skoda card with 2017 maps on it for £12 inc. postage from eBay, just big enough to hold the V12 maps downloaded, it means I can have patched old maps with TMC working or 2023/2024 maps by just swapping the cards over.
  19. Now I am home from holiday, I have recreated my spare skoda card with the V12 maps and then applied the V2 patch and it works on my MIB2 standard. It took a minute or so before the red diagonal line dissappeared and two messages popped up, one in North Wales and one in Barnsley. I am in Cheshire. Great thanks to those who worked out a solution, I will keep new and V12 maps in the car and swap when needed.
  20. Am I correct in saying there are OBD11 devices that are only read and others that are read/write? Any recommendations on a device that can make the change and not cost the earth? On a slightly different topic I am on holiday in Cornwall and found some very odd mapping with the 2023/2024 maps in St Austell at one point I was routed up a passageway half the width of the car, some roundabout exits were completely wrong and a couple of junctions turns shown but not voiced. Curious.
  21. Out of curiosity and as I had a spare Skoda SD card but no tool to do step 4, I tried it and no it didn't work. Still I might buy a tool.... or find someone with one.
  22. Now I am retired I repair cameras and convert digital cameras to work with Infrared light - so not much help there either...............
