  1. I should have updated my comment earlier... Well, my radio woes have been fixed, I've got a dashcam with front and rear cameras, once I unplugged the rear camera it works perfectly - DAB and FM! Chuffed to bits, cheers guys!
  2. Thanks bigade1, I've tried that many times and after 'service' it goes to 'time' annoyingly
  3. I've found the radio reception is abysmal, even the super boosted radio 2 is subjected to hiss as soon as you go near a hill. The RDS is switched on so I'd expect it to switched to the strongest signal being it DAB or FM, rarely if I select the cannel again it will take several seconds then find the strongest signal again. This affects bot DAB and FM, I wonder if there's a loose connection somewhere? The sound quality is really good though especially on Media SD card, punchy and clean!
  4. Thanks @varaderoguy, I'll speak to the mechanics (local garage) at the end of the month when they do the cambelt, they have all manner of diagnostic gear so they'll sort it. Thank again!
  5. Hi wise ones, I have a 16 plate Octy 2.0 l Diesel DSG. The maxidot reports 'inspection due in 20 days', its due for an MOT at the end of the month and cambelt replacement. Whilst I'm able to reset the service info I cannot reset the inspection notification. I've tried the ol' hold reset, turn on ignition etc and that resets service but no option to reset the inspection date, I've also tried the Seat method of ignition on, scroll to range and press the selection thumbwheel and held it down for up to 20seconds but nowt, Is it something that my garage will reset at the cambelt chang? Driving me maxi'DOTTY' now! Thanks in advance wise ones, Mark
  6. Hi Skodavia, no unfortunately, they said it was the flap motor but not heard anything since. Apparently its an utter nightmare to fix as half the dashboard has to come out plus everything in the drivers foot-well, I've still got freezing cold feet and no love this for this money pit of a car.
  7. Quick update, dropped her off to the garage and was told its a motor that controls a flap, its a dead short so needs to be replaced, the mechanic said he's done one on a 14 plate and another on an 18 plate! I have to wait for them to order it and quoted about £80/£90 for parts + labour - apparently its a b'stard job as its all under the dash, remove half the left underside and most of the right side under dash, I bet it's gonna sting a bit....
  8. @skodavia This is incredibly helpful, I cannot thank you enough for you massive contribution! Incredibly detailed and better than a Haynes manual!! Thanks mate, you're a star
  9. Hi Tivan, many thanks for the replies, I've done the flap calibration at least nine times and nothing changes, I'm thinking its something thats going to cost lots of money - just out of furlough so I'm a money free zone!
  10. Hi all, I'm beginning to hate this car... Its getting chilly so of course the heating on the car kicks in to warm up the cabin - apart from the divers side - the side that is always occupied of course. cold air blows onto my feet and from both dashboard air vents, the passenger side is nice and toasty but as I don't sit in the passenger seat when I'm driving I'm not a happy bunny. I've tried the flap resets a few times and it all goes through the motions and you can hear/feel it but nope - I'm still dying of hypothermia when I drive this coffin. Just took a pic (in the dark) of the expansion tank, like rusty water in there. I bet this is going to cost a pretty penny? Any ideas guys? Its an Octy mkiii 2016 2.0l diesel estate? Many thanks in advance! Mark
  11. This style of driving was suggested to my by a neighbour that has a Sirocco, she said treat it like a manual minus the clutch. Like you I found the economy in eco mode was mad - about 65+ mpg, once I drove to Birmingham to Oxford in the middle of the night at 55 mph, by the time I got home the display said 72.2 mpg! 😁
  12. Hi gents, thanks for the replies. The car is a 16 plate 2.l TDI with the six speed wet clutch, I had the DSG oil change last November @35k. I used to drive it in eco mode but that started to annoy me with the coasting when foot off the pedal plus I didn't dab the brake pedal when coasting up to a junction, I now drive in 'D' as I prefer the more standard engine behaviour.. If I poke the pedal it will surge quite nicely and there's no turbo lag just the gears change/take up/engage seem a little slow when decelerating into a junction then putting my foot down again. I don't do any left foot braking and to be honest I've only ever tried sport mode once and it scared the life out of me! I did speak to a fella that said he got rid of his Superb DSG as he thought the box couldn't make up its mind what gear to be in half the time and it could easily be 'tripped up' when coming to almost a stop then pulling away again - the same thing I experience. As I said earlier the gear changes are silky smooth and no jolts or noises changing up or down, I've not even tried driving it 'manually' yet and it doesn't have the paddles. Oh yeah - I drive like my dad, no speedy stuff here!
  13. Hi all, My DSG is working fine and I had the sensor/microswitch replaced after getting the random message. I've found there seems to be a particular driving style with a DSG gearbox especially when tuning into a junction or between almost coming to a standstill then accelerating again. There has never been an issue with the gear changes either up or down and it changes smoothly. As I turn into a junction I'm decelerating/braking then turning and press the accelerator there is a second or so before the gears engage, the revs climb a little then the gears engage and all is well. I'm more than sure this is totally normal behaviour and two people have said the DSG is 'an automatic box that is too clever for its own good'. I was used to a manual for years and knew the decelerate, drop into second - turn and foot down. Is there a driving 'style' or technique that I need to adopt with a DSG box to overcome this peccadillo? Cheers!
  14. IMHO I don't think it will cause an MOT failure, after all no dashboard warnings are displayed and there's nothing mechanical broken etc.
  15. Fair comment, however even a large vehicle would feel the sudden resistance or at least heard the crump. Hopefully Dave will get some answers ad I would also imagine the damage to the fence will also cost to put right, it's a real downer to find this has happened to your car though.
  16. Absolutely c**t1$h thing to do to someone and not leave details, they drive up insurance costs nevermind the stress it puts on the owners. Many years ago a driver smashed into the front of my Isuzu Trooper, fortunately the hit the massive cow-catcher on the front of the car and caused no damage, plenty of paint left behind though. a couple of weeks later we found a Vauxhall Vectra parked behind some with significant damage to the front of the car, the damage parts had black paint on them that matched the black paint on my huge bumpers and the silver paint on my bumper matched the Vectra..... I used to wink at the fat chav every time we passed and he could never look me in the eye.
  17. I just squirted silicone spray on all the bushes, squeaks, creaks and groans gone instantly and (placebo?) feels better to drive.
  18. As you guys have seen, the problem is entirely mechanical and not software related, don't be fobbed off by the dealers. Mine had the new micro-switch fitted and has been fine since so at least you can go to them and reference this forum to prove its not a 'one off'.
  19. My boot takes several thumps shut before it finally closes.😁
  20. I can't even get that far, the app data is ****e, I can only enter my salutation' "Mr". My "first Name" 'Mark'. Cant enter my surname as that input field is almost totally obscured by the frame and add my phone number. I've ran out of swear words as well to add insult to injury!💩🤬🤣
  21. GRRRRRR! What an insanely annoying app, email done and verified but no way on earth can I fill in my details as you can't scroll down to fill in anything apart from my first name and phone number. after any input I've tried 'next' with the same result, only half of the input field visible but you can't enter any text. This is on a new Samsung Galaxy A40 and I still have the same issue on a Samsung Galaxy S6 Oh yeah, no support either as on the website the buttons to links don't work either.😡😡😡😡
  22. Ah, so that's the answer, thanks Kental! @Tolpol62 Thanks to you too!
  23. I purchased on as well, my phone is paired with it but no matter what I do it won't work, no option for inputting the code on the top of the device - nada. I've tried in-pairing, deleting, rebooting phone several times ad-nauseam but it just wont do anything other than pair with my phone..
