Are all standard VAG stereos this bad?
I should have updated my comment earlier... Well, my radio woes have been fixed, I've got a dashcam with front and rear cameras, once I unplugged the rear camera it works perfectly - DAB and FM! Chuffed to bits, cheers guys!
- Can reset service interval but not "Inspection Due"? Octy 13

Are all standard VAG stereos this bad?
I've found the radio reception is abysmal, even the super boosted radio 2 is subjected to hiss as soon as you go near a hill. The RDS is switched on so I'd expect it to switched to the strongest signal being it DAB or FM, rarely if I select the cannel again it will take several seconds then find the strongest signal again. This affects bot DAB and FM, I wonder if there's a loose connection somewhere? The sound quality is really good though especially on Media SD card, punchy and clean!

Can reset service interval but not "Inspection Due"? Octy 13
Hi wise ones, I have a 16 plate Octy 2.0 l Diesel DSG. The maxidot reports 'inspection due in 20 days', its due for an MOT at the end of the month and cambelt replacement. Whilst I'm able to reset the service info I cannot reset the inspection notification. I've tried the ol' hold reset, turn on ignition etc and that resets service but no option to reset the inspection date, I've also tried the Seat method of ignition on, scroll to range and press the selection thumbwheel and held it down for up to 20seconds but nowt, Is it something that my garage will reset at the cambelt chang? Driving me maxi'DOTTY' now! Thanks in advance wise ones, Mark

More faults. No heating on drivers side
Hi Skodavia, no unfortunately, they said it was the flap motor but not heard anything since. Apparently its an utter nightmare to fix as half the dashboard has to come out plus everything in the drivers foot-well, I've still got freezing cold feet and no love this for this money pit of a car.

More faults. No heating on drivers side
Quick update, dropped her off to the garage and was told its a motor that controls a flap, its a dead short so needs to be replaced, the mechanic said he's done one on a 14 plate and another on an 18 plate! I have to wait for them to order it and quoted about £80/£90 for parts + labour - apparently its a b'stard job as its all under the dash, remove half the left underside and most of the right side under dash, I bet it's gonna sting a bit....

More faults. No heating on drivers side
Hi Tivan, many thanks for the replies, I've done the flap calibration at least nine times and nothing changes, I'm thinking its something thats going to cost lots of money - just out of furlough so I'm a money free zone!

More faults. No heating on drivers side
Hi all, I'm beginning to hate this car... Its getting chilly so of course the heating on the car kicks in to warm up the cabin - apart from the divers side - the side that is always occupied of course. cold air blows onto my feet and from both dashboard air vents, the passenger side is nice and toasty but as I don't sit in the passenger seat when I'm driving I'm not a happy bunny. I've tried the flap resets a few times and it all goes through the motions and you can hear/feel it but nope - I'm still dying of hypothermia when I drive this coffin. Just took a pic (in the dark) of the expansion tank, like rusty water in there. I bet this is going to cost a pretty penny? Any ideas guys? Its an Octy mkiii 2016 2.0l diesel estate? Many thanks in advance! Mark

Driver assist radar damaged - pheasant!
Hi all, on my way to work this morning a dim-bulb pheasant decided to kamikaze into the front of my car. The result is the radar bracket has been smashed but fortunately it looks like the radar itself it OK, I'm also glad that the grill around the sensor popped out instead of being smashed also. Does anyone know, A: where do I get a new bracket and B: is it an utter beatch to fit? Many thanks as always guys! Mark

Cam belt change, the truth
Hi all, Now I know I'll get thumped for this but I cannot see a straight or catagorical answer on when the cam belt should be changed. When my car was in a stealership last week having the 'Leave in park.." issue one of the recommendations they made was the cam belt change is due in 4 months. The car will be four years old in February 2020 and up to date has done 41,000 miles. I've seen 130k/60k, 5 years.... When I get mine done it'll be at an independant garage by a friend that specialises in VAG cars... So, is the truth out there? Thanks in advance!
