keyfob battery failing with *no* warning
As I see its a cheap battery I just bought a card of 6 Panasonic CR2025 mind you that is no guarantee they are the genuine article and not copies. I also own an RX-8 and we know that cheap Chinese counterfeit ignition coil packs in Mazda packaging are out there on sale and a Mazda dealer was caught out selling these as the genuine article the giveaway used to be they were a lot cheaper but the counterfeiters have got wise to that and upped the price!

keyfob battery failing with *no* warning
An Interesting experience my Karoq just provided me with - I went to open the boot but couldn`t then noticed no warning light on the remote the Karoq has only completed 5K miles in 18 months anyway got my spare key which was OK so deduced the battery needed replacing but no warning it had worked OK the day before anyway I had a supply of CR2025 batteries so changed the battery but remote still not working so tried another new battery but still not working so took the battery out of the working spare remote which was unused but that made no difference so decided the remote must be at fault so a quick trip to the Skoda dealer to be informed that I would have to buy a new battery from them to check the remote was faulty before they would do anything, I pointed out that I had just tried two new batteries and the battery out of the unused spare remote but none had worked so the service rep` took my remote into the workshop and after 10 minutes came back with the remote now working and said they had just fitted a new battery and it was OK now. So they charged me £5.10p for the new battery which appeared to be better than Panasonic, and Duracell which I already had both within a long user date I returned home and just out of curiosity checked what this better battery was - it was just a cheapy no name CR2025 you know the sort £2.50 for a card of 10. Apart from the nice little earner for the dealer what happened there then?

Karoq 4x4 spare wheel kit
I fitted this to my Scout (19" wheels) Its easy enough to do I bought the spare wheel kit from a Skoda dealer that was selling on eBay and an unused space saver wheel at the time there was plenty for sale then as it has been said you need to trim the polystyrene carrier for the wheel to fit with varioflex seats - in all it cost me a lot less than buying it all from a Skoda dealer.

Karoq pictures
To be honest I love my Karoq but I need to change it and I quite fancy a Cupra Ateca being similar in size to the Karoq but I am also considering an Enyaq and have looked at both but the Enyaq is Kodiaq size which is a bit big for what I need and I am not sure if the infrastructure is there for an EV.

Well if you have a Karoq Scout TDI fitted with a Superchips Powergate remap and 197 BHP/431 Nm of torque and 0-60 in 6.5 secs why not call it a VRS! Its quite quick for a 4x4 SUV I didn`t bother with the red calipers though.

Interior light.
If you have the interior light switches as in Variant 1 switch `A` controls automatic switching, when on (depressed) the interior lights only come on when opening the door irrespective if the engine is running or not. So definitely no auto interior lights on until you open the door. The first car I have had in years that didn`t put the lights on when turning the engine off - both my previous KUGA`s one with a key and one without both managed it.

Interior light.
Several replies but not any of them of any use what so ever - thanks for all your help!
-
Interior light.
No key just button on and off.
-
Interior light.
Well if it's pitch black at night you stop the engine and the interior light comes on rather than you groping around for the light switch or having to open the door to put the light on if you wish to stay in the car.

Interior light.
Why does the interior lighting not come on when the engine is turned off and then needs the door opening to come on ? Most cars the lighting comes on when you just turn the engine off. Or have I missed something to switch it.

That`s novel self opening boot!
My Scout has a power boot but is not foot operated, only by the remote or by the button on the boot lid or the footwell button, I find it impossible to open the boot just from the remote being in a loose fitting jacket pocket other than by actually pressing and hold the button so hopefully it was just a one off. I will add that when opening/closing the boot it is quite powerful and I don`t know if you could actually stop it once moving.

That`s novel self opening boot!
I was standing over the road talking to my neighbour with my back to my drive when he suddenly pointed out that the boot had just opened on my Karoq - the keys were in my jacket pocket so I went and closed it and then went back to my neighbours and took the keys out but you physically have to press the remote button for a second or two to open the boot so how did that happen on its own?

Help/ advice
The problem with Diamond cut alloys is that the clear coat finish chips and the aluminium surface quickly starts to discolour if you leave it the aluminium quickly starts to corrode especially if any salt gets to it and you cannot replicate the machined finish by rubbing them back with wet n dry paper and then just touch them in like a painted finish. I have sanded corroded polished alloys back but they need to be then polished again so it is progressively fine grades of paper followed by several coats of clear - it is not easy work.

Out in the snow
Just imagine how effective that would have been if they had not been on summer tyres, judging by the amount of slippage they must have been!
-
Out in the snow
Snow mode can be selected when driving on slippery surfaces. Electronic assistance systems adapt to this situation straight away. The Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) allows slightly more wheelspin. As a result, snow accumulates in front of the tyres and the braking effect is increased. Traction control (TCS) allows more wheelspin so that the tyre tread grips more effectively and the gearbox selects higher gears than it normally would in the lower speed range. The accelerator reacts more smoothly and thereby prevents an undesirable increase in the amount of torque. This prevents the wheels from spinning. Apparently Mr Skoda its all a waste you really only need winter tyres.
-
Out in the snow
One of my first performance cars was a rear wheel drive 3 litre V6 Reliant Scimitar GTE then we had winters every year with snowfalls guaranteed - I managed to get about to work etc without any snow/all season tyres the only difference was the lower levels of traffic didn`t hinder your progress.

Out in the snow
I needed to go out in my Scout (Bridgestone tyres) and got into some deeper snow in our rural lanes so into Snow Mode and it comfortably went up hill and down Dale and after owning 4WD Shoguns, various Land Rovers, Ford`s, Toyota`s and Suzuki`s the Karoq felt extremely able - I did consider whether I really needed a 4WD when I bought the Karoq but happy now that I bought the Scout. I will add many drivers today just do not know how to drive in snow correctly due to the lack of experience they seem to think that gunning the engine and spinning the wheels is the way to get moving wrong - good throttle/clutch /gearbox control is best although any rear drive car with big fat tyres will struggle (note how many BMW`s suffer) and a lot does depend on the actual vehicle, my RX-8 with rear wheel drive, fat tyres and light weight is absolutely hopeless in snow it will just not go in the direction you want it to hence the 4WD Karoq. Just to prove my point some years ago driving in heavy snow in my MX5 (rear wheel drive but great in the snow) I had to stop going down a very slight incline due to traffic a Ford Sierra (rear wheel drive) with passengers had got stuck going up the incline on the other side of the road the engine was revving like hell wheels were spinning but not getting anywhere then to my amazement one of the passengers got out and started throw handfuls of snow in front of the rear tyres presumably in the hope it would aid traction needless to say it didn`t help!

So the answer is when you collect your new Skoda Karoq pop into Halfords for some new wiper blades on the way home.

dealing with sticky wiper blades on a relatively new karoq
My last new Ford and Mazda likewise my daughters new Mini were judder free I have replaced numerous blades using everything from cheapish to expensive blades and never had a problem with any of them. A quick search suggests its a VW group problem.

What is it with Skoda wiper blades - in excess of £30K for my Scout and virtually immediately had to replace the front wiper blades now @ only 3K miles the rear wiper is making an awful scraping noise, obviously made worse by the colder weather but it wasn`t cold when the fronts were doing the same. Is it just down to poor quality if so it shouldn`t be!
