  1. Love it! Great job, well done sir... (E539) Sreten would be proud I'm sure 😎
  2. The rear seats will indeed fold perfectly flat, just pull the fabric tabs at the back of the seat squabs, then you can lift and tilt them so they are positioned in the footwell, allowing the backrests to lie flat and level with the boot floor. I'm 5'10 and have had a kip in the back of mine on a couple of occasions...there's loads of room to spare. I'd recommend an inflatable camping mat though. 60mpg from the 170bhp 4x4 DSG would be delightful, but probably only achievable if everywhere you intend to drive is downhill 😄 I average somewhere around the low 40s
  3. Had this issue the other day after I'd left the windows open 1 inch overnight... of course after a fine day it turned out to be the wettest night of the year and I woke up to find that some rain had got it on the seats and doors. The following day my driver's seat started playing silly buggers as I was driving down the road. Next day, flat battery. Followed wiilydog's advice and popped the seat memory switch out... sure enough, signs of green oxidisation on the circuit board. Obviously not something that's happened overnight, more the straw that broke the camel's back. Battery recharged and 24hrs since the switch has been disconnected and thankfully the seat has stayed put. Electrical contact cleaner and a good clean-up will hopefully sort the seat memory switch... will post results later. Before I had disconnected the switch I tried resetting the memory buttons but was unable to. When pressing 1/2/3 only #2 worked.
  4. Try and get yourself an ATE sensor for the front right... presumably that's what brand will be fitted to it already. ECP don't seem to have ATE sensors in stock at the moment but you might find them elsewhere, £50ish. If you can get the sensor out easily just check what brand it is and replace with the same.
  5. @FLAPPERJACK7 After smelling strong exhaust fumes in the cabin on a few occasions I popped the bonnet and spotted some tell-tale sooty signs in my engine bay...now hoping it's nothing more serious than that gasket & clamp issue you mentioned...
  6. There's a solid plastic cover that is held in place with a torx screw in that empty hole, I just took pic prior to fitting it...the black lump next to it was another empty hole that I filled in with black Sugru... ...see the dirty version in this pic!
  7. oh and just in case anyone else finds themselves in the same boat, this is where that part fits back...
  8. Lots of faults on the OBDeleven scan...looks like all but one (dodgy number plate light) are because the battery went flat after water got into the electrics, so lots of implausible signal/ lower voltage limit/ no signal or communication fault codes, listed a few below. Gave connector block another spray with WD40 and left it overnight. Change in the weather today and it's bright and sunny and hey presto, my front wipers are operational again. Phew 00153 - Driver windshield wiper motor Lower limit not reached Intermittent Priority: 2 Frequency counter: 14 Driving cycle: 192 Mileage: 138637 km 00154 - Front passenger windshield wiper motor Lower limit not reached Intermittent Priority: 2 Frequency counter: 14 Driving cycle: 192 Mileage: 138637 km 00446 - Function limitation due to insufficient voltage Lower limit not reached Intermittent Priority: 6 Frequency counter: 10 Driving cycle: 192 Mileage: 138637 km 01520 - Rain/light recognition sensor Lower limit not reached Intermittent Priority: 2 Frequency counter: 4 Driving cycle: 192 Mileage: 138637 km 00532 - Supply voltage Lower limit not reached Intermittent Priority: 4 Frequency counter: 3 Driving cycle: 192 Mileage: 138637 km
  9. When I initially removed the plastic mesh cover, the lower part of the seal was visibly wet and obviously not doing it's job properly. Explains why the passenger and rear footwell were saturated. Never had any problem up until last week when I noticed some wetness on the mat...I put it down to water from my mates boots as we'd just been out in the rain all afternoon. Didn't use car for a couple of days and then when I got in to go to the supermarket, noticed a puddle in the rear footwell. (Horrified as you'd expect!) Noticed water droplets on the carpet by the footwell lamp/bonnet release (tell-tale sign it seems). Removed cover beneath golvebox and saw droplets hanging from wiring coming from heater/ventilation fan. Fan removed and dirty water spilled out. Pollen/cabin filter removed and lower 1/4 dark and damp. It wasn't in bad shape and was date stamped which matched date of my last service. I know from reading threads on this topic that some have moaned that their service techs have skimped on replacing this cheap part (£8.24 carbon jobby from ECP with regular discount code), so thanks Truscotts Skoda/Helston. Fan has been doused in wd40, new pollen filter fitted and the carpets cleaned and sucked dry with a new VAX platinum carpet cleaner...back to dry and fresh in the cabin again.
  10. Inspected - filthy, lots of gunk. Spent a good hour clenaing. Degreaser, wd40, more degreaser. Tested drainage hole by tipping in 1/2pint of water and watched it all drain away nicely and exit by mudflap. Dried the whole area. Sealant applied to plastic cover (which was also thoroughly cleaned) and then refitted.
  11. I just used this stuff...black so if any squeezes out it's not instantly visible like white silicon sealant...either should be satisfactory to provide a seal though. I just covered the existing seal (which was visibly wet at the bottom when I initially removed it to inspect) with a line of the sealant and replaced the cover. Make sure you clean the two surfaces well first to ensure it seals nicely.
  12. .....errrrmmm, not quite. Damn. Put it all back together and now no front wipers. Took plastic cover off again to check that I'd not left a loose connection but all looks ok. Checked engine bay fuse number 40 (windscreen wipers), looks fine. Rear wiper works fine and presumably that also uses fuse number 40.
  13. Been having fun with this too and now just reassembling things...novice mistake of forgetting where things should go back! Can anyone advise please where this part goes back?!
  14. I gather I can send the scan results via email - I had the camera in my hand at the time so I took snapshots of each of the faults it brought up before clearing them but later thought I'd have been better off saving/emailing myself the log. Live and learn eh!
  15. Many thanks @paulski I'm chuffed to have got it fixed without the added cost of having to visit a garage and very appreciative of the comments from the helpful crowd of Briskodians here - I'm sending you all some virtual beer tokens - think of it as BitBeer! Looking forward to delving further into the OBDeleven app to see what it can do and look at more detailed info - I was eager to get going and find the cause so as soon as it pointed at that rear sensor off I went. I opted for the basic version as I didn't think I'd be doing much in the way of long-coding, but upgrade to Pro is an option for a fee (£70ish) if I change my mind and want to start fiddling without using/paying for credits. I gather it's not as advanced as VCDS but for £43 I wouldn't expect it to be. Will plug it in again soon and see what comes up now that sensor issue has been sorted - there were 30 odd faults on the initial scan yesterday, which I cleared and then only the rear sensor fault remained, so it'll be interesting to see if anything returns. Will add the OBDeleven info to my signature as per the VCDS help topic suggestion and like yourself, would be happy to help other forum members in a pickle.
  16. Sensor swapped for new Bosch unit (£56 from ECP - bit pricey having seen what I could have ordered from Germany...approx £40 inc. shipping but hey ho) and all warning lights on my dash have thankfully disappeared. If you're down my neck of the woods and need a scan feel free to drop me a line. (If it's a Lamborghini then there is a test-drive tax)
  17. Had a nightmare last night and entered locking wheel bolt hell. Had tightened my locking bolt way too much and in the process of getting the wheel off managed to mangle my locking key sufficiently to render it pretty useless. Well one 3/4" socket, a long breaker bar and a bit of 'ommer later and the bolt was freed and I was relieved! Today - NS rear sensor replaced and bingo, dashboard clear of warning lights! Thought I'd try driving for a couple of miles to see whether faults cleared themselves before plugging OBDeleven back in. Pulled off the drive and within a few metres the ABS and ESC warnings disappeared, closely followed by the TPMS, AFS and Park Assist warnings. Will plug OBDeleven in later/tomorrow and see what, if anything, pops up on my screen. Thanks to those who've offered suggestions/comments and hope it's of use to others in future. @chimaera@Mexico75@TheRobinK@PetrolDave@paulski MOT cancelled Weds and Thurs, 3rd time lucky - TFI Friday!
  18. Bought OBDeleven and plugged it in earlier to find a fault with NS rear speed sensor so about to get that swapped over and scan again...salad fingers crossed
  19. @Chimaera This little gizmo arrived in the post today - opted for the OBDeleven. Bit of a pain in the bum initially (perhaps I was sticking it in the wrong place!) - didn't want to do a complete scan and my phone not working properly wasn't helping matters, but eventually did manage to get it to complete a full scan and it threw up loads of faults (30 odd) including faults as expected for the wheel speed sensors NSF, OSF and NSR. Gadget comes with naff all in the way of instructions and it's a right squeeze to get it in the port on a Superb mk2...tried it in a 66plate Polo too and also very tight getting it in and out... I wasn't about to pay an extra tenner though for one with a keyring stuck to it .
  20. @olduns I was having trouble with excessive wear on inner edge a while back and took it in to the nearest place with 4wheel alignment (kwik-fit) - they wanted £70-75 to do it (the alignment!) once or for £100 and a much better deal and you could have it done up to 8 times over 2 years. Given the issues I was having with losing tyres to potholes and the impossibility of avoiding them all I figured I'd certainly make use of it at least twice. Think I got to 5 before it expired so £20 a go didn't feel so much of a sting. (limited to a single vehicle)
