  1. I have an august 2019 SEL ...... Purely from memory (as I am not near the car) but in forward mode I have the bendy lines like this: In reverse camera mode I have the fixed Green and red lines like the picture from the manual below: These dont bend at all to show the trajectory but I do have the camera washer system so confused a little as folk are saying "High" has the bendy lines in the camera and washer system but low has the fixed lines and no washer system. Thanks Paul
  2. There's nothing to "understand".. I was just saying. I know that you can turn it off each journey 😉. Just a shame there's no default off option that's all.
  3. Oh yes. I nearly forgot... Got 43mpg too.. Not quite as impressive as your figure but bearing in mind that about 30 miles was up and down a lot of hills in deepest Exmoor that was pretty impressive for me and my heavy right foot. I have given up with the uber annoying stop/start thing. I am certain that this is designed to wear out the starter motor, shorten the life of the battery and I'm 100% convinced that it lowers my mpg significantly. Sure it lowers emissions and that really is a good thing to aspire to but not at the expense of all the downsides (not for me anyway). It cuts in too much at junctions and when I stop for only 2 or 3 seconds. I appreciate that it can't know that it will only be 5 seconds which is why I don't like it. No way around that conundrum unfortunately. It doesn't take a genius to work out that using the starter motor and battery maybe 20 times in a 10 mile journey is going to cost me a fortune in few years down the line. There you go...... Back to the normal moaning.. Didn't take long 🔫🔫😔
  4. Karoq 1.5tsi dsg... Took it out for a good run today. Up and down hill and dale. Its a real joy to drive compared to my old 2009 tiguan 2.0tdi sport 4motion. Lovely and smooth over the rubbish UK roads, responsive engine and in over 100 fun miles.... Not a creak or squeak from the cabin plastics or suspension. Sometimes I can be guilty of looking for problems where none exist. Fallen in love again 😍
  5. Agreed. Only used it as an interim as next service due soon. I will ask them to tell me the exact oil used at the service and get some of that 🙂
  6. ..... and yes I used VW.504 as it states its okay in the manual and it happens to be what I has on the shelf from my previous car (which was a bit of luck). I will check what they put in at the service of course. I am going over to fixed time and distance at the first service / 1 year anniversary as at the moment its on Variable long life regime but hat is not suitable for my as I only do 6000-8000 miles per year. I assume vw.504 is best for fixed annual services anyway but I did see the extensive post on that 🙂
  7. ??? I never said anything about customer services invalidating anything ???
  8. I've done 1200 miles (1931km) since I had the car. the manual states: "Depending on the driving style and operating conditions, the engine uses some oil (up to 0.5 l / 1 000 km). Consumption may be slightly higher than this during the first 5 000 km". I am assuming the volume of oil between min and 1/2 way on dipstick is approx 500ml so 1000ml approx from min to max. If it was exactly 1/2 way at collection then 500mls in 1931kms would seem to be perfectly normal (in fact somewhat less than the manual states)? Unless I am missing something??
  9. Good point. I "assume" they topped it up as part of their "ahem" extensive pre-sales checks of approved used cars. Maybe they just checked it (if indeed they did) and as it was above minimum so left it. I now know the level myself having checked it and topped it up so I will check again just before its serviced and if its moved I will mention it to them at the service. Its due for its 1st oil change in a month 🙂 Ill be sure to check it immediately after the service (as from memory they always seem to only put in the bare minimum) and then check it again a month later too. Thanks for the heads up on that one. I could have easily forgotten.
  10. just FYI - they would not let me go out with the technician - not allowed at my dealership group at the moment. Even if we were both masked up and so forth. He had to go alone so if you have an issue where you feel it needs the technician in the car with you then its not going to happen just now. Not at least with the Marshall's group of dealerships. Even though I was told by the (less than impressive) service desk personnel that I was. It was quite funny actually - I had to sit there and wait for about 2 hours and I had one customer come in and have a bit of a barney about a £500+ quote for a spark plug and oil change on a V6 Golf. He said it was a F*****g rip-off and made quite a song and dance about it. I did chuckle. He has a point though - how can these dealership service departments justify the nearly twice the price of servicing compared to independent VAG specialist garages. To pay for all the shiny showrooms I guess. It certainly doesn't seem to go into training for service reception front desk people. Wouldn't you expect this group (the ones that have to interact with (sometimes) anxious/confused/exasperated customers to be the ones that really know there stuff on pricing, service regimes for each model and the differences between long life and regular service regimes, the offers that are on the Skoda Website (e.g. fixed price servicing offers) etc. etc. It seems its up to the customer to tell them and then get "Oh yea" - "I didn't know that" or similar. Fair enough - charge twice the price per hour but be twice as good if you are going to 🙂
  11. So it went in and the sound was definitely picked up when the master tech took it out for a test drive. He also listened to my sound recording and he heard it on that too. They said it ddd not sound especially abnormal or in any way terminal but keep an eye on it. They also hooked it up to check for any faults with gearbox/engine (and there were none) and checked that any "fixes" that might be needed (aka Kangarooing") was all up-to-date (and it was they told me). I'm happy with that - at least its been acknowledged so I have some comeback later if it develops. Oh - and they didn't charge me so happy there too. Cheers, Paul
  12. Thanks Wino. Maybe I should postpone the visit 2mo if it all sounds normal. Only seem to have noticed it last week or so but as it's pretty rare circumstance when it kicks in maybe I just missed it during the miles driven so far (only around 1000). I don't mind the sound - just wanted to be sure it was not a terminal type of sound (knowing how much turbo repairs an dq200 Repairs can cost). Probably worrying over nothing. I will most likely look like a right tit when the tech goes out for a drive with me.
  13. Since when did a farty noise ever get described as a whine. I don't get any farty noise. Sure there is lots of background noise and a general rumble. That's due to the amplification so the actual engine sound can be heard with my limited recording equipment. You can clearly hear the car accelerating and there is a distinct whirr / whine at the points I mentioned . If that's normal gearbox or turbo noise then great. All other noises, Roland or farty pants included are just unwanted sound recording defects. As are the click of the indicators and the occasional creak when the steering wheel moves.....
  14. Hi, The squeak was my per rat 🙂 Actually it was my slightly damp shoe on the accelerator/brake pedal I think but Roland can take the blame. So that's 1 - 1 on the "Never heard anything like that before/there is a problem" versus "It's normal". Anyway too late now - its booked in and if they charge me for wasting police time then I guess I'll have to take the hit. Maybe I should have just left it and let something blow-up - that way they would have a much higher warranty bill then but it would cost me nothing. I was a bit put off by the "I do need to inform you that if no warranty work is claimable then we will charge you £99" line the service lady took. She was obviously reading from a card. Does put one off rather.
  15. although I will print that off and take it with me 🙂
  16. Yes they are. I guess they are assuming it will take 49.5 minutes of effort hence the £99 threat if not a warranty job.
  17. Car booked in for a test drive with a Master Tech for tomorrow (9th) so keep fingers crossed for me. They say if nothing wrong then I may be hit with a 1 hour diagnostic bill of £99 - the thieving Bar Stewards!!! I used a stronger phrase but it was *******'d out 🙂
  18. OK Roottoot. Thanks for that - Anyone else listened?? Its been downloaded 5 times so someone else may have a view on it 🙂
  19. So I have done some more sound recordings with a different device (as the first one was useless) and I attach an example of the whine / whirr I am talking about. My guess is its just normal turbo whine in 1st/2nd which is emphasised when the car is under load and pulling off from a standstill/near standstill (e.g. on a hill). What do you guys think? The timeline is as follows: up to around 1 minute - normal noises, driving on flat occasional acceleration and slowing down then at about 1 minute 5 seconds I am on a 1 in 10 hill at a stop and accelerate briskly You can hear the noise at 1'05" I then slow until a stop again at 1'17" and then again accelerate briskly-ish and the sound is again at 1'18" ish. at 1'57 there is further brisk-ish acceleration, this time on the flat with no (or very little) of the whine i.e. not under extra load as not on incline. I have used a sound program to amplify the whole recording as its really difficult to pick up on a recording so don't worry about the apparent horrid ambient sounds - my car isn't that noisy normally 🙂 thanks Paul Karoq Sounds Amplified.mp3
  20. Well I tried to record sound but it doesn't really come out (well doesn't come out at all). It's not really that loud. I will have to ask the tech at the garage to come on a drive with me and then he can listen out for it. Its one of those quite subtle sounds that only the human ear can really pick up on (without professional sound recording equipment) 🙂 Hopefully they are allowed (with masks I guess). I'll try again in the next day or two to get a recording though and if it works out will def. post it here. Cheers, Paul
  21. Thanks Scot5 and MJI - I think I will try to capture it and pop it over to the garage.
  22. Hi, I will ask about taking out another when it does in - thanks for that - things are obviously changing quite fast with regards to demontrators and loan cars.
  23. I sure would if I could but for servicing in my part of the world courtesy cars are not being offered yet. I really wanted to hear from other folk with the 1.5DSG on here prior to that though to see if they hear the noises I describe. that will give me ammunition (confidence) to press the dealer with a little more authority. 🙂
  24. Hi, I'm totally happy with the oil level - this is a bit of a red herring and diversion from the post. I only topped it up to half way so I did not accidentally over top-up and also the fact that an oil change service is due in about 4 weeks. I only got the car in March this year and it was all checked and topped up etc by the selling dealer. I've had VAG cars for about 20 years and checked and topped up the oil for as long as I can remember 🙂 (I also check the tyre pressures monthly and TPMS is reset each time) It's really the "normality" or otherwise of the slight whine under the conditions described above that I am most interested in. cheers, Paul
