Steering wheel creaking/grinding noise
I would caution against regular WD40 spray. It can cause all sorts of issues later down the line and it stinks (inside the cabin) which may be more annoying than the creak. Also avoid silicone spray. it works for a few days but soon wears off. Be veeeeeeery careful not to get anything at all on the actual wheel, stalks or, God forbid, the pedals (as Phil245 said). At a push you may want to try a little DRY ptfe spray (careful there is also a WET one which you should avoid). https://wd40.co.uk/product/anti-friction-dry-ptfe-lubricant-spray/ but.... be warned - it may release other parts that at the moment don't creak as they are pressed nicely together and they may start to creak. I would get the garage to sort it. I think they use a combination of Dry PTFE, fabric tape such as TESA ADHESIVE TAPE CLOTH for wires rubbing and to tighten up gaps , Einszett gummi pflege for the rubber seals if they creak/leak : https://www.amazon.co.uk/nextzett-91480615-Rubber-Stick-White/dp/B004B8GTQG I also used some silicone paste at strategic points (purchased in a toothpaste type container from RS supplies) to stop rattles in a couple of places. I had terrible troubles with my old tiguan and have spent many a day doing the rounds with the wife driving and me on the back seats dabbing abit of gummi here, a bit of ptfe there and plenty of Cloth tape wherever I could get it in. It works but takes much patience and perserverence :-) Good luck! Paul

Winter driving, a few observations.
You can if you only have the FWD version :-)

Stop/Start Delete
Maybe you are confusing yourself ? or out for mischief on a boring cold evening? This is a Karoq forum and the thread is concerning Karoq's - The chap was saying he did it on his Merc and I was asking the question whether his "downside" affected all marques with this type of technology or whether it was specific to the Mercedes.
-
Stop/Start Delete
Both really. I rely on the car holding when I stop, take my foot off the brake and am still in gear (DSG) - Autohold and I rely on the car not rolling forward when I'm on a slope, pop it in reverse and slowly squeeze the accelerator (to reverse up my drive - uphill) + rely on it not starting to try and move off until the revs are high enough to prevent the engine stalling (as I'm on the slope) - standard for the DSG gearbox as I understand and active whether or not Autohold is turned on). :-)

Stop/Start Delete
Firstly - sorry to ressurect such an old thread but it fits my circumaances well :-) Hi, I am thinking of doing this on my Karoq (1.5 Petrol DSG) as I nearly had a flat battery today after not driving the car for over a week (its cold outside too). My usual routine is to take the car out every 3-4 days and give it a good 15 minute run to top up the battery as much as possible in the given time. It annoys me that the smart alternator is working against me in this way and also annoys me that I most likely will only have an (at best) 80% charge on my battery just before laying the car to rest for a week. In the olden days I would make sure that I gave the car a good run without lights on and without other draining items on so at least I knew the battery was as charged up as possible. Also don't like stop/start (personal choice) and turn it off every time I start the car. The thing I do use a lot is the AutoHold function when I come to a stop in a queue (or when I start off my journey as my drive is on a slope). The autohold keeps the brakes on until the revs are appropriate for the car not to roll back etc. I was wondering if anyone with a skoda and Stop/Start (and smart Alternator) and DSG has tried this little hack yet and whether the AutoHold still functions? I know I can get a CTEK MXS 5.0 (or similar) but that is a faff - the removal of the plug is much more appealing if there are no other bad consequences. My battery will also have a longer life as will my starter motor and my alternator (most likely). I can still stop the engine in a traffic queue manually if I want (and I sometimes do). I could also get a jump starter gadget but.... Thanks Paul

KAROQ TPMS FAULT
and, as you are going to trade it in at some point fairly soon, also indemnify you against any loss in "trade-in" value as there is a known fault and the person you are selling it to might become aware ?!?

KAROQ TPMS FAULT
That's shameful. I don't blame your wife.

KAROQ TPMS FAULT
Also also, see this: https://www.tyresafe.org/tyre-pressure-monitoring-system/#:~:text=The Law,pressure monitoring system (TPMS).&text=In the UK on 1,result in an MOT failure. Now... this is only my "google" knowlege on the matter and we all know about fake news and the fact that Google is not infallible but....... My recieved understanding is that TMPS is a legal requirement It is safety related They should be compelled to fix it without delay at the next visit otherwise they are allowing you to drive a car that they knowingly know is not roadworthy as its an MOT failure if it is not operating correctly. A car has to be roadworthy at all times and not just when an MOT is done. That is the law. Telling you to ignore a TPMS warning light might be seen as somewhat illegal ??? Maybe you can report it to the authorities (or threaten to do so) and they "might" be compelled to issue a safety recall if they really can't fix it. That might spur them into some actual action rather than their "all too common" mindset of "lets fob the customer off" :-)

KAROQ TPMS FAULT
Also, If its going back with no fault showing (when they run a full computer diagnostic) and the light is physically on at the time then could it be a faulty light? I'm no expert but if the light is actually on and the light is controlled by the computer(s) in the car then there must be some record of what turned the light on / what is keeping the light on. If not it can only really be a wiring loom fault or a light switch fault I would have naively thought. Maybe im being too simplistic :-)

KAROQ TPMS FAULT
Dealer told you that... Hmmmm. Get it in writing mate. If you ever did have a slow puncture, say on the motorway at 70mph and you were told to ignore it then, if you had an accident then they might be laying themselves open to being liable for any damage and/or injury. I suspect they will not confirm it - in which case tell them to sort it. It is a safety feature that is there for your own safely not their inconvenience. If necesssary they can replace all the sensors and the wheels (and the tyres if the sensors can't cope with thier supplied tyres). Don't let them fob you off. You never know when you might be grateful for that sensor.

poor demisting
My wifes Fabia is the same - a thick mist on the inside of the rear window in the winter but luckily my Karoq is fine. On both however the rear heated screen is a POS (just like it was in my old Tiguan). Seems to take an age to demist on both cars. With the fabia it rarely has enough juice to do the job and takes at least 10 minutes. If you have extra moisture inside the car first thing in the morning then I suspect that the rear demister will be shown up as it is a weak point in all the VW's I have owned and/or driven. My Karoq rarely gets a mist issue on the inside but I do have the climate control (AC) on all the time and the windows closed most of the time. I also remember to turn off the recirculate as soon as I have finished with it (smelly car in front) so I suspect all this keeps things dry (so when I leave the car its starting its overnight rest from a nice dry point. In my old merc I had the issue and I used to use the microwavable bags of dessicant. Simply left a couple in the rear (on the parcel shelf and religiously remembered to re-prime them weekly (and properly following the instructions to regenrate them - which were quite detailed). This has nothing to do with those poor folk who have an actual leak though. The service folk at a lot of the franchises seem pretty poor at being able to find the causes of this (and a lot of other issues) from what I have read here and to my mind that is unnaceptable. From my experience that is pretty par for the course with the service and warranty side of the VAG garages that I have had dealings with in the last 12 years. No idea if they are any better or any worse than other marques but I nearly always leave the garage feeling very fobbed off and a bit angry in most interactions. :-(

Sound deadening
To my mind, a lot of the "slightly disappointing" noise intrusion seems to come from the noise of the road/roar of the tyres getting past the door seals which (in my opinion) are inferior to the Volkswagen Tiguan (old 2009 model) I used to have and (possibly) different (and inferior) to the new Tiguan/T-roc. I think this might be one (albeit small) part of the reason why the VW's are £1000's more expensive. The Tiguan seemed to have an extra set of seals on each door. It was the sports model with hard as nails suspension and low profile 18" wheels and I never noticed any road noise. I'm a bit surprised that the company above have not looked at that and provided some more seals or uprated seals as part of their solution. The mesh parcel shelf (to my mind) also has a major negative impact, allowing much more noise from the boot area to intrude into the cabin and I am also surprised they have not seen that and suggested (for those who are really bothered by the extra road noise) to replace the retractable shelf with a solid one. I suspect a few £100 spent addressing the shelf and uprating/modifying the seals might have much more impact over what they are selling. Just my humble opinion :-) Cheers, Paul

Climatronic odd behaviour on heating - inner centre vents don't blow hot air on Auto
No the cold air was to demonstrate that in the summer the AC is working on all 4 vents. In my situation above there is no air at all coming from the centre 2 vents (hot or cold or otherwise) when the cabin is asking for heat. When its asking for cooling the centre two vents seem to work. I thought most folk used "Auto" on the climatronic. Isn't that why people pay several grand for a feature pack that has it (e.g. SEL). A big chunk of that package is the Climatronic and the whole point of it is to adjust the airflow and temperature automatically :-)

:-) At least its not just me then. It is an odd behavior though. I wonder what their thinking is.

Climatronic odd behaviour on heating - inner centre vents don't blow hot air on Auto
I have noticed an odd thing with the Climatronic on my car and was wondering if it is faulty or if it is a "Characrterisitic" of all the Karoq's with Climatronic. I have my climatronic on 22C and on Auto and all the vents are fully open (2x by the stereo and one on each outer side of the dash). I also have AirCare set to on and and everything else set to Auto. I have the temperature set to 22C and on a cold morning the car starts to warm up. I notice some nice warm air coming out of the two middle side vents but nothing out of the to vents next to the stereo. This means that I end up with one hand getting nicely warmed and the other hand left freezing cold. I have tried setting the vent controls to "centre" and then the warm air comes out of all 4 centre vents but in Auto, no matter how long I wait, or how warm the interior has got, the two vents by the stereo will never pass hot air. If I have cooling on in the summer etc then these vents do work normally and all 4 centre vents push out cold air. If I look at the graphic it is showing a hot arrow next to these vents thus indicating that it "should" come out of these vents and when I switch to screen or footwell these arrows dissapear. I suspect these are only "dumb graphics" and not actually telling you the actual state of the air coming out of the vents but, all the same, the graphic does indicate hot air should be available at the two centre "stereo" vents. Is this a feature/characterisitic or is my Climatronic faulty? Can someone else with Climatronic have a go on the next cold day?? If it is only mine then I will take it in but if everyone's Climatronic behaves in the same "very odd IMHO" way then I won't bother as I know it will not end well with the service department :-) Thanks Paul

- Karoq Boot liners
I got myself one of these. It needs to be cut to size but its really quite good. It also needs to be warmed up and flattened out before trying to fit as it comes up rolled up. What I did was flattened it out in a hot conservatory (summer) and then I fitted it dry in the boot, rammed it into the corners and used a stanley knife to trim (in-situ) just like a carpet fitter would. I then used some contact adhesive to glue on some strips of velcro (hooks side) to the underside of the mat that stick to the carpet nicely but allow it to be removed easily if required. It is a good solution for under a tenner and it stops all the boxes and shopping bags sliding around. I couldn't believe the difference it made to the noises and sliding around. Best £10 investement I ever made - it does require a bit of DIY skill though to get it lokking nice. cheers, Paul- Bodywork material
Not a saddo at all - many of us are the same. I refused to go to my brothers flat (that has the narrowest reserverd spaces on the planet) on the way back from collecting my new Karoq (200 miles away) and instead chose to pay for a hotel room for the night as their car park was nice and spatious. Hi tom, I did see some for the Karoq that are lower down. On my Tiguan the proud spot was 1/2 way up the door but these are lower down. Maybe they are better (if you get the arch protectors too ever better still). It also means they cant be pinched. Its on Superskoda?? At the end of the day you have to do what makes you feel happy and keeps the car safe from dings. Maybe someone else has these and can comment. http://www.superskoda.com/Skoda/KAROQ/Karoq-side-doors-bottom-stripes-glossy-black-4pcs-set-SPORT-LINE-look Cheers, Paul- Amundsen Mib2 Map Updates 2021
