Skoda Owner's Manuals
Now you are trying to make Skoda UK act logically and in the Customers best interests. Best laugh I've had all day Skoda UK just seem to be there to say "This has never been reported before" and "we have closed your case as it is a "normal characterisitic" and to try and shield the VAG group as a whole so they can wriggle out of anything that is not clearly 110% their responsibility. "Manual to operate your car sir" - "Pah - we don't provide those any more" - "You didn't you purchase the optional £599 telepathy module so you shouldn't expect to be able to operate the infotainment system that you paid dearly for" . "enter a postcode Sir - Pah - get the grid coordiantes like everyone else Sir" - "It's operating as intended". Oooh I am cynical today but its true right?

Bosch AeroTwins
It might also be that cleaning with a scouring pad or anything else like that might be taking off the lighter grey coloured carbon / teflon / PTFE type of coating those new blades have. I suspect thats the stuff that makes them glide so smoothly when new. I now only ever clean mine with a slightly damp tissue with water only because of that. I also found the Heyner Hybrid blades very good but watch out for the kit of 3 (rear is 1" too small for Karoq even though its their kit for the model) - just get the front kit if you want to try something different :-) https://heynershop.co.uk/wiper-blades/612-hybrid-windscreen-wiper-blades-2618-st.html £19 for a pair and they were better than 2 sets of Bosch that I tried - the bosch left a little smear in the drivers feild of view but these didn't (and still don't - fitted October 2020).

Drivers seat
Hi Clap005, "Have you got another dealer near you?" Sadly only a Seat dealer which is an hour round drive (who is authorised to service the Skoda - and did so last year for me) but I am not sure where they would sit with warranty claims and dealing with Skoda UK being Seat. The other nearest Skoda dealer is 3 hours round trip - even then they may not want to help if the other garage has already talked / emailed "Skoda Technical Services" and they have told me that they were told by "Skoda Technical Services" its not a fault. All very annoying - I will wait to see what Skoda UK CS have to say once the dealer has called them 1st and given me a "case number". I insisted on this so the ends all tied up together in the hope that it might speed up the process. I won't hold my breath :-( I will also ask them to sign a letter confirming that a drivers seat back that moves on its own and in this manner is not a "safety risk" and that if the seat were to fail catastophically in an accident they would be personally liable. I expect they will politely decline that request. Cheers, Paul

Boot liner question
Fair point. My use scenario was to stop the sliding. If I had liquids I agree that a "cupped" liner is best :-)

Karoq MY19 Driver/Passenger Seat Recline Issue
Hi Guys, I'm having a nightmare with this problem. My seat does exactly this and its been in the garage for 1 week so far. They say they can't replicate and went to technical for advice. Technical have told them that this is not and issue / they have not had this reported. Told the dealer I am not happy. The only reason I am not happy is really from a safety perspective - I just don't know how the seat will react in an accident and whether it is safe. Added to this (of course) it is a pain to have to adust it every day (but if it was only that I could live with it). The garage tell me that they are in a tricky situation - I have been advised that the they "can't replicate it" and "its never been seen by us before". They can test it properly because they are unable to drive it for an hour or more (to see it happen) as they are not able to claim the costs back from the warranty side of things.. I sat in the car with them observing and "simulated" a drive by bouncing around on the seat and wiggling and the dial moved probably 1cm - so for me that was demonstrated. I'm not sure where I can go next. I have asked the garage to escalate it to Skoda UK and give me a case reference number. I can then talk to them about it but I feel this is not going to go the way it should be going. I am so fed up with this - I really want my car back. I am pretty rural so going to another garage is going to be quite difficult. The only other garage in sensible driving distance is a Seat garage - What can I do with Skoda UK that is going to make them sit up and listen? I said that I might be able to get some other people to give me their case reference numbers (where they have had the frame replaced) but I fear Skoda UK will not accept these as they will likely be done on a case-by-case basis. Grrrrrrrr. Thanks Paul

Boot liner question
Me too CJJE . Its a bit of a chore to cut and fit nicely (initailly) compared to a custom fit one but its been faultless since - all for less than £10 Doesn't smell once its gassed (a few days). I found I needed a few strips of velcro attached to the mat and the floor of the boot to make it really snug and I also cut a small slot for the boot floor handle. Completely stopped things sliding around in the boot (which I found to be a real problem).

Skoda "All-in-one" Package
Might be worth comparing to a 3rd party extended warranty. I used Warrantydirect for my old Tiguan for years 4-7 and it was a good price and quite good cover too. I made a claim for a new propshaft and they paid out £1200 with no fuss when I found propshaft oil drips on the floor.

Infotainment system and Android data load
:-) john999boy Sure I know... I spend around £30-£40 per year at the moment on PAYG in total but even the cheapest deals come in at 12*£5 = £60pa I have one of the "gold dust" o2 3-2-1 PAYG SIM's that just cant be bettered at the moment for a low use user like myself...

Infotainment system and Android data load
I downloaded the whole of the UK in 5 parts to my phone and keep them updated once every 3 months (as they expire). I also make sure I put "data saver" on my android phone when on 4G to stop the phone from downloading unecessary junk when out and about. I was on a 5 day vacation the other week from the west country to Wales (I am on PAYG) and noticed that it used about 250Mb over the whole 5 days (at 1p/Mb it cost me about £2.50). I guess that was mainly traffic info when in google maps(and also a bit of google to get reviews of restaurants etc.). Also, If you ask the Google assistant a question, that uses some data (depending on what you ask it to do of course). I expect if I did not have the offline maps it would have been more like £25... :-)

Sound deadening
I suspect it is 50% down to the brand of tyre as much as the profile and size. I have the dreaded Bridgestone's and they are "pants". from a noise point of view. On my old Tiguan I had the same issue (it was the sport with the 18" low profiles) and swapped over to Khumo's KU39's and it was night and day (noise wise) and they were nice and grippy in both dry and wet but they did seem to wear a bit quicker. For me these were the best "budget" tyres if that is your thing at about £90 a corner several years ago. Sadly I don't think Khumo do the KU39's in the Karoq 18" size of 215/50 R18 :-( They do have a tyre called the ECOWING ES31 in that size though and one bloke on tyrereviews.com said this: "Had the new tyres for a year now, original tyres were bridgstone turanza. The first thing i noticed was how quiet the vehicle was with increased levels of comfort, especially when crossing speed humps, much more compliant. I undertake some long motorway journeys, monthly and recorded significant improvement to the fuel economy app 5/6mpg ( cruising around 65mph). Too early to comment on wear and tyre life but it's looks promising. i think they are good value for the money!" They are most likely not easy to find but may be worth a punt at under £100 a corner.

Thanks so much for that - staring me in the face if I could see the wood for the trees :-)

KAROQ SPEED CAMERA WARNING
If only it was possible to tell WAZE not to use single strack roads too. The classifications are all to pot on Waze (last time I looked) and the admins don't want to fix it. https://www.waze.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=293000

Karoq Workshop Manuals
Hi all, I have some annoying rattles on the drivers door around the window controls and the arm rest and the bit of fake wood. Does anyone know if there is a guide to removing these items so that I can pack them out with some cloth tape and put some silicone grease in strategic locations to ease my annoyance :-) There are so many excellent guides and manuals on this thread but I just can't seem to locate the one that says how to dismantle the interior door trim. thanks, Paul

Boot handle
I agree. An even film of dirt looks "kind of clean" until some muppet closes the boot with their fingers and leaves clean finder smudges/marks that make it look even dirtier that it is/looked. I'm a big fan of the handle!!

New car spec slightly changed from advertised.
There is a use for the paddles that I use all of the time though - allowing control without taking hands of wheel - when going downhill and braking a little bit, the gears change (say from D7 to D6 or D5) and, if I don't want to accelerate to tell the system its okay to change back to D7, the car stubbornly sits there in D5. I use the paddles to flick it back to M7 to get the revs down and then in about 20 seconds it reverts on its own to D7. I know you can use the stick to do the same so its no biggie but I find it more intuitive to use the paddles. :-)

Bosch aero twin wiper blades
I personally found that the Bosch blades on my Karoq left a little smear near the connector (middle) of the wiping area and went with the Heyner Hybrid blades after returning 2x sets of the bosch's. Got them at the beginning of October. They are smear free and have been wonderful!! HEYNER Germany HYBRID windscreen wiper blades 26" 18" ST (heynershop.co.uk)

First Stone Chip - 5 weeks old
I was told the same about he cocktail stick. I also mixed the Clear Coat with the base colour on my metallic black Tiguan (for the chips)and used some t-cut and then a good polish/wax afterwards (as the clearcoat painted on top of the basecoat looked awful). Seemed to give a better result. Self healing paint my a**e :-) Is that like self lowering emissions test results?

Climatronic odd behaviour on heating - inner centre vents don't blow hot air on Auto
Hi J.R. I see your point and agree about certain situations where it is useful to keep you more alert but... IMHO when its -10C in the morning and you have one hand near the hot side vent area (while holding the wheel) and one hand near the cold vent area (also holding the wheel) either being blasted by cold air (if open) or having no direct air flow on it at all (and so not getting warmed up as quickly as the other hand) it doesn't feel quite right. Its like that experiment where you put one hand in freezing water and the other hand in really hot water at the same time and the brain does weird things :-) e.g. Hand in Ice Water Experiment - Science Class | Study.com I have closed the centre vents in the winter and directed the side vents to the windows so the issue is minimised then at some point in the late spring I will open the centre vents and put the side vents to my body to get the cool AC :-) I too had climatronic on an older VAG car (my 2009 VW Tiguan) and it didn't behave like that? I had all vents open all of the time and the vents all put out hot or cold air depending on the cabin temperature. Maybe something changed in the design between 2009 and 2019. I just wish it was a bit more "set it and forget it" like my old Tiguan was. Cheers, Paul

Climatronic odd behaviour on heating - inner centre vents don't blow hot air on Auto
It could be a fault. If you happen to need to visit the garage for anything else you could ask them to look into that too. I am going to ask them at my next service but that's not 'till July :-) cheers Paul

Poll for water ingress into cabins
3rd option is leak into boot from "unknown cause"
-
Water Ingress - Passenger footwell
I think there is a "poll" tab under the options when you create a new topic. I don't know other than that :-)
-
Water Ingress - Passenger footwell
You could add a "Poll" and ask if people have had a leak or are leak free and if so which part of the interior was affected and if it was resolved You can then ask the admins to make it a sticky so all visitors see it and can vote That might get you the stats you want :-) cheers, Paul

keyfob battery failing with *no* warning
To further test if its locked the car when you touch the front door sensor you can try to open one of the back doors. These don't have the hand sensor fitted so if the car is locked the back door will not open. Personally I am (at the moment during the winter and bearing in mind the "smart alternator" only charging the battery to 80%) locking the door with the remote control then touching the sensor to disable Kessy in the "hope" that it might turn off the (car) battery sapping sensors in the front doors (which must be permenantly using power under normal Kessy enabled conditions). I only take the car out every week at the moment and wanted to minimise the battery drain. Probably snake oil but it makes me feel better :-). also - if you get into the habit then it eliminates the security concern with Kessy if that bothers you. Of course, I have to unlock the car with the fob but hey ho!!

Steering wheel creaking/grinding noise
No amount of sprays or gloop or tape would have sorted that fault - you did exactly the right thing. Glad its sorted.
