If you have no joy in matching the paint you could consider some of that "Carbon Fibre" wrap for both door mirrors.

They are usually fairly economical to buy from carparts4less (£66, with code, for electric heated) or eurocarparts (£82, same), brand new! The drawback is getting the cover painted but the shells can be quite cheap from eBay, new and painted, depending on finding a seller. (£30--ish quid as most garages want at least that just to paint the cover).

Thanks for that. I've managed to find a better looking one off the same model for £52 so I think I'll go with that.

    Thanks again.

  2. Hi, just a quickie.

My N/S door mirror off my 2012 Fabia Monte Carlo has gone walkies, I need a complete new one. Does anyone know if there are any other Skoda models with identical mirrors? There's one on ebay but I'd like a better condition one.

    Cheers

Sorry mate, I have one left, £15 posted?!

Cheers Rob but I'll leave it thanks. Might have been tempted to try it for a tenner, on my new black Fabia   but I've got 3 Autoglym packs sat in the shed so I might as well stick with them. Cheers for replying anyway.

  4. still for sale

    looking online this a bargain

    £1850 ono

Hi roberto - long time no see :) I had your Edition 100 back in 2007 if you remember.

I have a friend who starts a crash driving course this weekend, so if she passes (hopefully) she could well be interested in this in a couple of weeks if it's still available.

  5. My 2009 Superb Elegance 170 had recently started doing this regularly. It's only the driver's seat and it seems to do it under braking and when turning a LH corner. The seat slides forward and the backrest goes forward as well. If I intervene with the switch it stops but it's very unnerving, especially as it's when you are busy negotiating a turn.

What are the criteria for a recall in cases of potentially dangerous faults?

  6. You'll need to get the fault codes read, the controls work via Canbus signalling direct to the columbus, so something has gone funny with the databus. If you have the radio code, or the headunit is original you could try disconnecting and reconnecting the battery after 20 mins to see if a reboot of the whole car fixes it.

Sorry mannyo, I've been really busy.

I thinks it's original - so I won't need the code it I disconnect for a while?  Also, I did the battery drain FW fix last week (dunno if it's fixed yet, it hasn't been long since I charged battery), although I can't remember if the wheel has worked since then. Could that have affected it?

  7. Regarding Voice Control, I'm sorry you're finding it annoying.

There are many options for it, long and short prompts etc. so it's worth reading the Columbus manual and persevering - I call her Mildred and find it very useful but sometimes she chooses not to understand what I want and so I just say 'Cancel' and she shuts up.

The Columbus problem is largely resolved now. My problem with voice tags was that the option to add a voice tag is not in the head unit screen but in the MFD, but I couldn't get my phonebook to load. After a little further research I installed the My Bluetooth Phonebook app. Straight away I was able to copy my phonebook over (it had been failing every time at 135 entries and cutting the bluetooth connection). It also stopped the issue I was having where every time I got in the car, the phone would connect but then after about 30 seconds it would disconnect then reconnect again. Now it comes on and stays on. Best £1.19 I've spent in a while.
