  1. Well, I put the deposit down today to collect on 16th March. It's satin grey metallic, beige leather, sunset glass, solar s/r and f/r heated seats. Love the colour, I think it looks great.

Gonna be good to be back!

Is there a link to updating the Columbus firmware for 7 digit postcode? Dealer says he's updating to the latest maps for me.

    Thanks.

PS. As it's a long distance purchase (250 miles), I won't set eyes on it till I go to collect/pay for it. Is there anything particular that I should be checking for when examining it?

  2. High mileage, former company cars can be a good buy - if the previous owner respected them, but can be a bad buy if the driver razzed the car.

In general, a young high mileage car is probably a better investment than an old low mileage car.

I certainly know colleagues of mine who do in excess of 40K per year, with most of us doing at leas 25k miles.

Obviously I can't know but I somehow just can't see a young sales rep giving it the beans in this type of car. I'm gonna see what I can find out about it.

    Cheers.

  3. Coming back to the Superb, I still have your old wheels at my parents home in Hertfordshire.

I paid just under 19K 12 months ago for a just under over 1 year old 2.0PD140 DSG Elegance with a couple of extras and only 12K on the clock.

Lol @ wheels. I may buy them back for my Bora yet it I don't get a Superb :)

Anyway, the one I was looking at is 18 months old, has park assist, upgraded stereo, heated washers (is that an option?) and I'm really tempted. There's another one, same age, 20k miles but without the extras for £18. 5k. I may try and get the one I was looking at down to near that price. My feet are really starting to itch again :p

What does the upgraded stereo comprise?

Edit: found the stereo info now. Glad I don't have to decide, sounds a bit hit and miss.

  4. There was one on A/T last week for £16k iirc, might only be an SE though, think it was blue.

Superb's are being inflated by Skoda, they simply aren't worth the money right now, an 18 mth old car in that spec and miles should be about 15k now, do a test, ring in and ask for a rough px figure, I bet you they wanna give you £14k or less for their 19k car.

Thanks for that. I'll look some more. Btw, the Legend went a year ago, currently on a 55 plate Bora 1.9tdi.

    Thanks to everyone else.

  5. Hi all. I'm thinking about coming back to the fold after a 2 years break.

Superb 2.0 TDI CR 170 Elegance DSG.

    Sept 09/59

    Mileage 24k

    Park assist

    Burgundy/cream

    £19,900 main dealer

I've looked at the usual places but there's quite a variation in value.

    What do you reckon?

  6. Hello to everyone on here. Can't believe it is 2 years since I purchased my new Skoda Superb. Well it is now due for renewal and we are thinking of buying the new Skoda 170 elegance with dsg. Would love to here peoples views and experiences of this particular car, mpg etc. My old ? skoda elegance 1.9 (115) has done 23,000 miles and is on a 07 plate in near perfect condition. What could I expect to pay to change this car for the new 170bhp dsg elegance. As usual thanks for any advice and comments.

For peoples views and experiences, just read the very forum you have posted in!

With regards to PX, only the dealer will be able to tell you that. There really is no point in speculating.

Just be prepared to be disappointed!

  7. I did the same thing with my 106 deisel a couple of years ago. Fortunately I had only put a bit in, but I did drive it for a while before it passed out. I filled it all the way with deisel and it was fine.

I should imagine the petrol has to be syphoned/pumped out for a start. Get rid of as much as you can. Fill it all the way with deisel and I should imagine it will be ok.

    Good luck.

  8. checked for water ingress and found nothing. all electrics working fine.

51.5k on the clock with full fish-bro service history

Drove the car home (approx. 80miles) and it drove a treat. Early days i guess. The seller pretended it was a private sell however i sussed out he was auctually trade. no big deal though

It would have been a big deal for me. For a start there is the dealers profit that you have paid for over and above the value of your particular car. Then there is just the plain dishonesty of it. I'd have walked away the moment I twigged.

  9. You would sell them easily on here mate and you should advertise them in the classifieds, how much would you be looking for?

Not sure really. Was thinking around £250 from looking at other ads? What do you think? I'll take some pics tomorrow and get an ad up.

  10. Snow and ice has finally disappeared from the roads in south Finland...

This is what I finally got:

    Those are 17'' RS6-rims. Tires are 225/45. ET 35.

I think that those look guite nice...

Very nice. I just happen to have the same wheels (but 18") going begging. Was thinking about listing them here. Would anyone be interested?

    These are they.

18 months and 5k miles older than this but still in excellent nick with good tyres.

  11. After removing the undertray I've found evidence of an fluid (oil) leak around the area circled in red in the attched picture. The pic is from the Haynes manual for a passat but is representative.

The car has done 108k miles and the leak is more than seepage (if you know what I mean).

Any ideas what I am looking at? Is that part of the cooling system? Where could the leak be coming from?

    All help appreciated folks

Can't imagine David Bailey quaking in his boots! ;)
