Anyone who owned MK2 previously - do I go for a MK3 or a good MK2?
I've driven a few MK3's, and material quality is worse than the MK2. Also, not all MK3 are IRS, whereas MK2 were. Reliability wise more issues on the MK3. Anyway, car was chosen and it wasn't a Skoda.

Need the cover for the rain sensor (VRS)
I need to source a replacement rain sensor cover as I managed to snap 2 clips when removing dashcam wiring. I can't find any on ebay. Does anyone happen to have a spare / part number? I'm at work and haven't fully taken the panel off to get a P/N yet. It's a VRS so plastics are black. Cheers

Octavia 2 1.9tdi juddering/stuttering at certain revs, no fault codes
Did you manage to solve this? I'm getting misfire around 2000rpm, on partial load (sometimes). I've changed the injector loom, which solved it. Then it's been warm here (30+ degrees), and the misfire is on/off back again.

Octavia Mk II 1.9 BXE knocking/ticking noise
Update - I haven't touched anything on the car and nothing has broken yet. Had a nightmare ordering a new tensioner. Aircon compressor is breaking so I'm replacing it next week, will rule that out

Octavia Mk II 1.9 BXE knocking/ticking noise
I just don't see this being anything else other than something to do with the climatronic stuff. Get it plugged in and see if anything comes up. I just ignore all the clicks mine make, it's never been worth worrying about, and this is clearly not coming from the engine. But I know others are different, you want it sorting, so get it plugged in.

Fitting later mirrors to 2007 Octavia
Found the answer It's a straight plug & play

Octavia Mk II 1.9 BXE knocking/ticking noise
You can quite easily see the actuators if you pull the glovebox off. There are a couple on that side. Have a play with the dials too to see if there's any difference in temperature anywhere

Octavia Mk II 1.9 BXE knocking/ticking noise
Come on. Are you seriously linking an electronic noise to the ENGINE? Conrods won't give you a warning, if they're going through they go through. And I'd be willing to put money on your TSI engine having more problems than BXE! OP, either ignore it, or get a VCDS scan done. I have a faulty actuator but I just ignore it because, largely, it doesn't affect me. I believe mine is the recirculation and also something on the left is faulty, as the left blowers only blow cold usually. Cycle through the options you get on your climatronic and see if you can isolate it. If not, scan.

Fit isofix to passenger seat
Didn't even think about this but with twins, don't think it'd be fair 😄

Fitting later mirrors to 2007 Octavia
Hi all Finding the original mirrors a bit small for some reason, either I've getting more wary or I'm just getting worse at driving! I'm willing to bet the later mirrors fit fine - am I going to be upset when they don't? My car has puddle mirrors, hoping I can just get a set of later ones, fit and they work as intended? Anything else fitting to facelift MK2 that's worth fitting (safety things, not cosmetic)? Thanks

1.9tdi Engine Rattle only when elevated idle
Both of the 1.9's I've had have shown same fault but I ignored it previously I'll keep ignoring now I'll pull off the belt next week and run the car and see if the noise goes away. If not, I'm inclined to think it's the drive belt tensioner, although hopefully not. Any other suggestions, open to them!

No, if there's one thing the car gets it's regular servicing!

This should be available to watch now. R.E. glow plugs, is this a common approach not to change them? Replied above

1.9tdi Engine Rattle only when elevated idle
Hi all Just wanted to garner some advice before I go spending money. Have a rattle on the left hand side of the engine. It sounds like a tensioner but will be next week I can look into it. It goes away once engine settles to normal idle. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1zoPVohAg5odqoGBE2uOPJTum_QsWVnr4/view?usp=drivesdk Timing belts & tensioner are 2 years old, the aux belt tensioner I haven't replaced. I plan to pull the aux belt off entirely to see if the noise goes away. Is there anything else it might likely be? I have 3 glowplug faults on VCDS but buying a set and a new loom to fit next week. Thanks

Anyone who owned MK2 previously - do I go for a MK3 or a good MK2?
Thanks for this very extensive summary. I've just got back from Australia and don't really think you seemed to get many diesel's, or not that I saw, anyway. I did see a few Octavia's, but pretty sure no MK4! I have seen a few 1.9 dsg, but not enough to have a comfortable frontrunner. Then they're pretty expensive for what they are, evidenced by how many don't sell on eBay. MK2 tdi 2.0pd I'd just avoid, I've never heard a good thing about them. 1.6 cr would be most likely or 1.9, same power but newer engine and obviously related to the cr engine in MK3 and the 2.0cr. Early 1.6 I've heard had problems so possibly only option is 1.9 in the MK2! I'll keep your comments in mind and keep looking, although it's possibly a Volvo might take the spot.

MK2 came out in 2004, so in development before that . You're comparing a car launched in 2013 to a car launched in 2004. Don't think fair comparison, considering your 2019 is 6 years on from release. Wouldn't be stretching to 2019 model, way too expensive.

Anyone who owned MK2 previously - do I go for a MK3 or a good MK2?
Hi all I currently have a 1.9 saloon mk2, and see no reason to switch cars for a while despite it getting a bit scabby. My partner however will be getting rid of their woeful MG ZS soon, and I'm left with the task of choosing a replacement. I think it'll be a Skoda estate. We can't afford any of the newer, taller cars (Karoq / Kodiaq). So I'm wanting to know 1.6 or 2.0 CR? Also, has to be DSG - are these showing to be pretty reliable? I think 100000 miles will be around the target. Appear to be a lack of MK2 estates in the spec I want, either they didn't make enough or they just don't exist anymore, hence why seem to be swaying towards MK3. And then I want to know electronic side wise. I've had very few electrical issues on the MK2 - rear washer motor, some HVAC actuators. Would like Android Auto / Carplay - is this as easy as fitting something like RCD330 in the MK2? Mechanically my 1.9 has been bulletproof, just needed a clutch, so service item. Ideally I want some kind of warranty as I don't want to have to work on her car. I'm ok working on mine, but just want any problems to be sorted easily. Any ideas? Cheers

Rear parking sensor intermittent fault after parked for 3 months
Car was parked for 3 months, now getting intermittent fault on left rear sensor. It sometimes works, other times not. Generally once car has warmed up for 1 hour + it seems ok. Where is the module located? I suspect there is moisture somewhere. It's the left rear sensor coming up as faulty, but don't want to waste money if it's something easy. I never had any problems before it was parked. Thanks!

Anyone whose fitted MFSW to a pre-fl, help please
Bump - could this be to do with the Lin version? Controller in use is 1.3, desired looks to be 2.0 for the RCD330?

Horn short to ground developed when removing retrofitted parts
Hi all, To summarise in a few words, my car is showing Horn "short to ground" through VCDS. I have pulled the fuse for now to stop it going off. I changed the steering controller over a year ago, to use a MSFW. Buttons never worked, I just accepted it, as the car continued to function safely. In preparing to sell the car, I removed the wheel, the steering controller to re-fit an old one, and changed the gateway module back as I've removed the RCD330. I got the car working, but when trying to use the horn, the cruise control would cut. I checked VCDS, changed a setting, then the horn was stuck on, hence having to remove the fuse. I've tried 2 airbags, I've tried 2 steering control modules. I haven't switched the gateway module. I'm swayed towards the clock spring becoming damaged somehow, I have ordered one. Is there *anything* else this could be? Are steering control modules known to go wrong easily? Thanks for any advice. I will be back with a Skoda, but I'm leaving the country, so no point having a car sat still. Taz
