  1. Yes, if you already have the front camera, for lane assist or TSR. Many retrofitters can do this for you remotely, if you can access a VAS5054 dongle. I wrote about my experience of having this done here:
  2. Hello, I've sent you a DM, but for the benefit of anyone else looking at this thread: - I used a guy called VAGRetrofit (telegram @vagretrofit), but you can find other remote retrofitters by searching online. - Yes, this works fine in the UK, and you can also upgrade to pACC if you have a front camera. - Your retrofitter will be able to check compatibility if you send them an Autoscan of your car's modules. This can be done using VCDS - check elsewhere on this site for a map of members who own a VCDS cable - or by using an OBDeleven dongle. I think you may need a pro license for OBDeleven to do an autoscan (not sure though), but you can at least get info about the individual modules without needing a license, which may be enough for this purpose.
  3. @pab567can i just check this with you please - I am looking at second hand Columbus units (565035021x) and there are some differences in prices being charged for A,B,C,D versions. Can I just buy the cheapest version? Is there any advantage at all to getting a 'D' version, like more software updates available or something? Thanks.
  4. Thanks, this helped. It still opens when I'm driving though! I'll keep trying.
  5. Sounds like you're all set - good luck! I've found pACC to be very poor around London. It keeps picking up badly placed signs on sliproads while I'm driving on the dual carriageway, and then braking from 50+ down to 30 in heavy traffic. The mapping data is also rubbish. For example, if I'm driving on a flyover that goes over a junction, the car behaves as if I'm approaching the junction - and again tries to brake hard. None of this is really the car's fault, but it does mean that I no longer use pACC on my commute.

  7. @Jsilva_2 @phdelia Any hints on how to get the upper glove box to close??
  8. I was told by a retrofitter that the 'C' version was only compatible with cars from 2020 onwards, due to a different immobiliser. I don't know if he meant MY20 or MY21, but sounds like your car is MY19 anyway, so I wouldn't expect it to work (if he's right). Might be good to contact a local retrofitter to make sure though.

  10. I recently had a VC retrofitted in my Kodiaq, and decided to keep my columbus MIB2 instead of upgrading to 2.5. MIB2 cannot send maps to the VC - I knew this and I don't mind. However I also cannot get the VC settings screen on the infotainment, so there are some VC settings that I can't change. Everything else works, so it's ok.
  11. I can confirm that this is an easy swap, with no coding required. I followed a guide on here with no problems. You will need a T25 screwdriver. I got the button from Skoda-Parts.com last year for 46 euro including delivery, but if I was doing it now I would first send a message to https://www.coverdalecarparts.co.uk to see what price he could give me.
  12. Yeah, I talked to Pawel about this last year, but I actually really like my current screen, with knobs and direct shortcut buttons for everything. It's working fine with the VC otherwise, sending media info, changing ambient colour etc. If I could just customise the settings for the side panels on the VC in the way I wanted, I would be very happy! Oh well...!
  13. Thanks @langers2k, that's interesting about the changes to the VC. It also suggests that the new steering wheel is never going to be fully compatible with my older model VC, in terms of button functionality, so I will abandon that route. My headunit is a MIB2 Columbus (on a Kodiaq, not Octavia - I have just wandered over to this forum for advice...), running the latest software available. I knew that the MIB2 wasn't going to be able to send maps to the VC, and I was fine with that. But I didn't realise I also wouldn't be able to have the VC settings menu on the infotainment, so that has been disappointing. The VC install isn't fully completed yet - still waiting on a fibre optic splitter because I have Canton. I can post an autoscan and adaptation map afterwards though, thanks.
  14. Thanks @Krosta, really interesting! I have the 3Q0 gateway, but the adaptation channels needed are not available in the infotainment module, so I can't activate the VC settings screen. It's really frustrating. Good luck with the LIN translation unit!
  15. @Krosta You've been busy! I have a Kodiaq, but I'd be interested to hear about how you did some of these retrofits: · Heated steering wheel with touch sensor and paddles under the steering wheel (from Octavia IV) This wheel is now on the Kodiaq also from MY21, and I really like the look of it. Did you need a new gateway? Do the buttons work ok with your virtual cockpit, or is the virtual cockpit also from Octavia IV? There seems to be some changes in how the VC settings are controlled - I think in Octavia IV all the view options (including the side displays) can be changed from the steering wheel, not needing the settings screen on the infotainment. Not sure if this means the virtual cockpit is also different? ( @SashaGrace - do you know anything about this? I have recently had a VC retrofitted (by Tyrone), but I can't enable the VC settings screen on my radio, as two of the adaptation channels are missing from my MIB 2.0 Columbus. I don't suppose the new Octavia IV steering wheel would be a way to get around this? Or do you know of any other possible ways to customise the side views, beyond the defaults available by holding the view button?) · Heated rear seats Did you have to change the whole rear bench for this, or just insert heating pads somehow? · Additional independent heating Do you mean auxiliary heating, or tri-zone climatronic? I am interested in retrofitting tri-zone if possible. · Media Command and SportHMI functions in infotainment · 230 V socket including two USB backs · rSAP function for LTE signal reception, including the possibility of inserting a SIM card I would love to hear about these also - especially the sim and rSAP retrofit. My Kodiaq (MY17) was one of only a few that got fitted with the old MIB2 Columbus that doesn't have a SIM slot. Most got the MIB2.5 with SIM. Also Media Command - did this need a SWaP code? My list of available FECs is blank, so I'm guessing this also isn't available on MIB2. Thanks!
  16. @New2018 did you ever find any workaround for this? I can't activate the Virtual cockpit settings screen on my MIB2, as I'm missing adaptation channels.
  17. Fantastic, thank you :-)
  18. Hi @linni, do you know if this will work on MIB2.0?
  19. @silver1011 do you have any hints or tips for doing this little mudflap 'alteration'? I ordered my mudflaps 6 months ago and the front set have been riding around in the boot since then, while I worked up the nerve to melt a hole in them . Did you find a good way of marking the area to be cut, and what sort of tool would you recommend? (for fitting over running boards, just to be clear!) Thanks :-)
  20. Yes, you need a VAS5054a dongle - I bought a clone online. You need to connect the dongle via USB to a windows laptop, with Teamviewer and Flexihub apps installed. Do not get a VAS6154. In terms of functionality, you just get two extra options in the ACC settings menu (see photo in my original post). One setting allows the car to adjust the maximum speed in ACC based on the current speed limit. If you activate this, then the maximum speed in ACC will automatically adjust up or down as the speed limit changes. The other setting will allow the car to temporarily reduce the speed in response to the road layout (e.g, a bend), before accelerating back up to the speed limit (or to the speed you have manually set in ACC). At the moment I am not using the speed limit setting. There are a few places on my commute where the system sees slower speed signs on exit ramps, and incorrectly uses this slower speed. Very annoying, and potentially dangerous (my car tried to suddenly slow from 50 to 30mph on a dual-carriageway in heavy traffic).
  21. I was on erWin earlier today, and I saw that they have updated the documentation about performing MIB software updates, to reflect the fact that some cars will now be doing this vis USB-C rather than SD card. They don't seem to have updated the guidance regarding map updates in the same way though. I think it probably is just a temporary oversight. Having read what @Scot5 has posted above from the user manual, it might be interesting to set a route destination in continental europe or somewhere further afield, to see if that prompts an auto-update.
  22. I'm a bit surprised about the heated rear seats to be honest, because it does seem that a lot of the options (as opposed to market-dependent features) are wired up. For instance, the heated steering wheel fuse position is wired in my car (i.e., the position is live, but it's not wired through to the steering wheel), which is handy, as that's a retrofit I'm considering!
  23. Position 46 and 51 are not wired on my MY17 Edition. There are two wired and empty positions related to the tow-bar (which I don't have fitted), but they seem to be constantly powered. I'd like to do the same as you're planning, so I might do some more investigating over the holidays.
  24. I thought you needed HEX-V2 (or HEX-NET) for anything after MY18, but someone else may be able to say for sure?
