  1. I have the 1.6 CAYB with a DSG, put a towbar on myself and used it moving rubbish and what not and was entirely fine. Decided to go a bit further and rented a car trailer 500kg & towed a Skoda Pickup 1000kg, car trailer alone was like driving the car power wise, once the car was on you could feel it, but it still wasn't as slow as say a mk1 Fabia 1.4 auto (cough). Driving was entirely fine, cruise control at 50/60 just keep it in manual mode since it'll upshift and kill your momentum, I kept it in 5th and used my retrofitted paddle shifters. Hill starts were painful, there's a steep bridge near me where I had to hill start and I could smell clutch. Otherwise just acknowledge you'll take a bit longer to get started and position yourself accordingly. Total economy around 8.5L/100m over 400 miles round trip, 200 towing full load. All in all I'd do it again but plan my route properly, no detours, as few stops as possible, and pray they don't put roadworks on steep as hell bridges! Towbar I used was just an eBay special, had proper certificates and cost ~£150, easy enough to install you just need to find and peel off some blanking stickers on your frame rails. I didn't have electrics installed because it's only a £100 fpn & I only tow in the daytime. I plan on making my own box that interfaces with OBD and use a few relays in the future.
  2. 1.45mm pitch, not worried about it being weaker. Only want them to see what Mr.MOT rates the rust before getting started.
  3. Friend checked bolt on his Felicia, M10 25mm. Grabbing these and installing over the weekend https://www.screwfix.com/p/easyfix-a2-stainless-steel-set-screws-m10-x-25mm-10-pack/9373t
  4. It's closer to M10, need to dig my calipers out and measure it all up
  5. Hi mate, exactly this part - the comparisons only show newer cars so wasn't sure if it'd fit on the felicias. I have some bolts in M14x1.5, will see if they fit & order. cheers :)
  6. I'm trying to find the caliper carrier bolt which attaches the carrier to the hub, I can only find bolts that attach the caliper to the carrier, anyone know the size or P/N of these bolts? Thank you
  7. What was the exact issue? Mind posting the invoice from Skoda?
  8. Hey, just though I'd share some pictures of my Spaceback with projectors fitted, got them fitted by a garage for ~£60 during the MOT. Replaced the existing Xenon D5S bulb with LED ones - super bright yet not dazzling. No need to code with VCDS either as discussed in other threads, I presume that's due to these LED units drawing less current than the stock D5S's, not sure. Way better vision at night though, 10/10 upgrade, just need to replace the sidelight bulbs to remove the yellow hue.
  9. You can put basically any steering wheel you want on from the VAG group, airbag would need a bit of wiring though.
  10. I believe all the controls from the steering wheel area go through LINBUS then out to CANBUS through another module - OP can you tell us which warning lights come on? Do you notice your steering feel slightly heavier when the lights come on? This would incidcate there's some sort of issue on your CAN BUS as the EPS module goes into a failsafe mode.
  11. You can get Carista or OBD 11, if you intend to stick with VAG cars get VCDS.
  12. Ding ding ding, winner. This sorted it. Tail lights now on. Not sure why the left side lights didn't get flagged in the MOT, saying that I missed it too... Last job is to get a new plug and switch for the electric windows. Hopefully she'll be right. will update when I get around to doing it.
  13. Looks like the brown and white+blue cable were shorting in the window switch. Cabin lights now function, will order a new switch and probe out the connector to determine where the fault lies. Harness from what I can see is basically flawless. Only issue is tail lights not illuminating. Correction for original post, the fuse is 36, not 15.
  14. Yeah fair enough, I'll get the door card out and have a look. I ripped the boot while trying to take it off
  15. Hiya, I've got a 59 plate Fabia mk2, there's a few electrical issues on it, it's got a severe case of the sads... Here's the symptoms Electric windows don't work with interior buttons but does when using key Numberplate light & cabin lights (the dome works) not working Fuse 16 had popped so I replaced it with another one, switched the lights on and the drivers door card was smoking & the passenger window was moving up and down. I've seen it mentioned that the harnesses to the door tend to fray and cause connection issues. I unplugged the doors harness, replaced the fuse & no fire but also no rear number plate light :/ Next steps Remove door card and check harness Identify smoking component - Note: central locking & window still function, speaker? Isolate smoking component and replace. Repair harness if required. Has anybody seen this? It's not really a major deal because I can wire the tail lights to the brake cluster but it'd be nice to get it all working.
  16. Parking module (13 on chart below) is quite close to the boot hatch on the left hand side of the boot, it's got term-inal 15 running to it.
  17. I know it's a bit late for you, but for anyone in the future, you'll want H15 for the rear.
  18. Hi all Has anyone on here got a rapid fitted with a front assist radar? Looking to retrofit one, anyone got an autoscan? cheers
  19. Do your parking sensors work? How long does it take to switch on? I've had a few of the cheap chinese ones and they all take ages to boot compared to stock :/
  20. That looks like a better option! Saves having to look into retrofitting the newer glove box, radio electronics and screen if that's even possible without spending a bunch of cash and pulling modules.. I presume having one of these would need coding into the car to enable the parking sensors, etc?
  21. Ahh lame, any way to retrofit them? Had a look in the glovebox and there wasn't one of the units I've seen in other cars either. 😕
  22. Hiya, Looking at the forum there's chatter about retrofitting newer radios into older cars, from what I understand the screen and buttons are just that, everything goes to a unit in the glovebox which has the brains. How would I fit something like the MIB 2.5 with the bigger screen? Would something like the eBay link below fit? Does it have to be Skoda branded? Once it's installed do I need VCDS to code it to keep my parking sensors? This is my current head unit, I can't find any way to use CarPlay and the UI looks fairly dated. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/9-2-Display-Discover-Pro-MIB2-5-Sat-Nav-DAB-VW-Golf-VII-Tiguan-II-Passat-B8/283664118628
  23. Honestly driving the rapid home last night was some of the best fun I've had driving, I've only had basic 1.4's in the past (2 mk1 fabs, 1 rover and a peugeot) the DSG box changes gears quicker than I ever could, there's enough pull to not get embarrassed speeding up on country lanes. Dealer I got it from had a suspect hill which I was worried about bottoming out on, but nope. Cruise control set to "70" MPH on the M6 didn't at all feel like I was going quick.
  24. Hiya Dan, just left you a message with my details not got any insurance in place as of yet.
