  1. I used a cheap OBD2 and carscanner software to disable stop/start. Best £20 I've spent.
  2. Hi, I've been advised to get a pair of rear shocks for my MK3 Estate 2.0 Diesel 150hp. Does anyone know the OEM part number, or how I can find them from the VIN? Many thanks
  3. Thanks all. I've managed to find some eBay specials, 16" with tyres. The calculator shows they are almost identical overall size. The offset is higher but clearance appears good. Being a total novice to this it's been an eye-opener, but hope I've got it right😬
  4. Visiting the Highlands in February. It's about 10 hour drive for me and don't fancy doing that on Summer tyres.
  5. Sorry to ask, but I'm really struggling. I need some all weather or winter tyre for a holiday. I currently have 235/40/19 8J ET45 XL (96V) I have seen for sale 235/45/17 7.5J ET44 but not XL (97V) They are Audi wheels. Can anyone confirm if these are ok? I have looked on "will they fit" website but still unsure. Does the XL matter? Thanks in advance.
  6. Hi all, sun's out, fan has broken ☹️ I'm guessing it is the motor as it sometimes works but makes a nasty grinding noise. Has anyone else replaced the blower motor? It looks like the glove box will have to come out. If there is a guide anywhere I'd appreciate a link. I did a search and only found other Skoda models and not the MK3. Thanks in advance.
  7. So it appears that all my glow plug warnings, occasional sluggish start, were down to the battery only having 49% capacity. Diagnostic test, new Yuasa battery and coding, £204. Wasn't expecting a battery, so happy that the glow plugs all seem ok. Here's to the next 100,000 miles.
  8. I've had starting issues, on and off, for a couple of months but it has been ok for the last two weeks. Today the flashing glow plug symbol on the dashboard. Spoke to the garage and they said its more than likely to be the Control Unit, but cannot tell without diagnostics. Is this located in the engine bay? How do you tell from the fuse box layout, is it marked as it's not obvious to me. Thanks
  9. Two stones came from cars coming the other way. Third not sure, maybe.
  10. Had a stone inpact that caused a crack about 18 months ago and had a new replacement. 4 weeks ago had another stone chip and massive crack. Whilst waiting for the new screen had another huge crack from another impact! Today, 2 week old screen got hit by nothing more than a grain of sand and I'm now booked in for a repair! Are these screens pathetically weak, am I unlucky, or is it the shape of the car? 8 years in a Ford Galaxy and never had a new screen, and had plenty of stones just bounce of that.
  11. Sorry to revive an old thread but, I've finally got round to replacing my gear knob with an LED one from China for £37. All seems very good, but one observation is that the button doesnt fully "pop" out when in reverse, it retains a mid position. I'm jow wondering if the original also did this and i never noticed! Could it be a feature so you can tell you're in R by feel? Thanks ps if you decide to do this youself do not press the button without the gear knob on the shaft. I learnt the hard way.
  12. I know who I'll believe. Over the past 35 years Powerdown has developed the most comprehensive range of truck, trailer & bus shock absorbers designed specifically for “Excellence in Performance, Safety & Value”
  13. Wow, you're a credit to the forum. Thanks for sharing.
