  1. yeah I didnt even have a whistle for 9 months. nada Zip Zilch. the whistle was after Mr Muscle number one and i knew that meant it was getting better. I do not understand your Last sentence - what do you mean relatively well? And my brothers newer VW Golf DSG 2016 at 181bhp is certainly more of a puller but yeah i LOVE MY SKODA MK1 and plan on keeping it on the road as long as possible as the veg oil conversion/ twin tank wasnt a simple process and I reckon this is the last of the engines really that will do it without spending a packet converting a PD
  2. yipeeeeee Just drove it. Fab. Was getting 40-44 mpg without the turbo working for the past 9 months Now is getting 61mpg on the straight B roads and 52mpg going up scottish hils and windy roads and 30mph villages
  3. What happened to Lofty I cannot thank him as he seems rto have disappeared off the forum. Anyway I had low pressure boost on my 110 ASV Octy 1 (see my thread) So this is not just for limp mode and Overboost. I never had a single light come on nor went into limp mode - I just has no power and on Scottish hills it sucked. Motorway not so bad - could get up to speed but MPG only around 42-45mpg. Now all the vacuum lines are replaced, the wiring checked, the MAF , MAP and intercooler pressure sensor cleaned and a couple of tiny holes in intercooler were epoxyed. After one Mr Muscle treatment things seemed a wee bit better. Second treatment the next day and we heard the tubo whine ...it has been silent and dead as a dodo since i got the car 6 months ago. Today Mr Muscle three and we have lift off!! Turbo spooliNg and actuator moving as it should. Then my mechanic installed an 130 BPH ECU that I got for £100 and now I have a fab car. Anyone in need of a hardworking , thouroughly decent mobile mechanic in or around Ayrshire , drop me a line- I told him about MR Muscle and he was willing to try and do the rest of the work. I am 100% certain that a garage would have charged £1000 plus to install anew turbo and that would be without the cleaning of the other componenet and finding the tiny holes in the intercooler. I can now return the new oem trubo I bought (a Garrett from Catsand Carbs) for £225 I will report back on the mpg next week once i have clocked some miles avec turbo
  4. Anyone know what happened to Lofty79? Want to thank him for his Mr Muscle thread. So despote this being an underboost, the actuator was stiff and there was a lot of carbon. brian spent upwards of 10 hrs changing all the vacuum lines , cleaning MAF, MAp and intercooler pressure sensor. There were a couple of holes (tiny ) in the intercooler [pipe now epoxyed. N75 ok. Did Mr Muscle once and the turbo whined which is forst sign of life from it since I bought the car. Today Mr muscle again and BINGO we have power! BOOST Then Brian installed a 130bph ECU that had been in a freinds old ASV octavia and now it all seems to be working fine. Many thanks to all who chipped in and I am off to add to Loftys old Mr Muscle thread First time I have had a properly working vehicle since i bought it!
  5. battery new alternator changed and good N75 seems ok but wait there is a control for that N75?- photo of wher please? I guess Brian wanted to know the psi (or inHg for each component so he could put the mikki on and not have to change every single bloody pipe
  6. here is the report from yesterday- gobbldygook to me and is giving me palpitations! I suppose that it is the 17964 code which on googling is 17964/P1556 - Charge Pressure Control: Negative Deviation Boost Pressure too Low. Hoses/Pipes incorrect connected, disconnected or leaking. Charger Pressure Control defective. VNT (variable nozzle turbo): nozzles stuck. Solenoid Valve for Boost Pressure Control (N75) defective. N75 just changed but couldstill be faulty . Still looking for any hoses or pipes that are an issue -most have been changed now and Mr Muscle being tried asap Thursday,03,June,2021,19:44:22:64069 VCDS -- Windows Based VAG/VAS Emulator Running on Windows 10 x64 VCDS Version: 21.3.0.0 (x64) HEX-NET2 CB: 0.4543.4 Data version: 20210226 DS325.0 Chassis Type: 1U (1U - Skoda Octavia (1997 > 2011)) Scan: 01 02 03 08 15 16 17 19 22 29 35 36 37 39 46 56 76 VIN: TMBBP21UX32676885 Mileage: 160700km-99854miles ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Address 01: Engine Labels: Redir Fail! 7. yes we had a VW diagnosis guy yesterday and it threw up the same fault code as on the OBD. I was told it said 'low boost pressure' - do you need an exact code number?
  8. Having trouble - turbo not kicking in. Low boost pressure is the code. Works fine (seemingly or better ) when hardwired turbo through Mitty Vac. My mechanic has never worked on this engine and he is leaning towards it not being the turbo itself although it could be just sticky vanes so he has asked me to ask a few questions. 1) Is the pressure for the vacuum pump meant to be 15-21psi? This is what he gets. 2) can anyone tell us the vacuum operating pressures for the EGR, the N75 valve and the turbo itself as Brian the mechanic cannot find that info? 3) can anyone show us a photo from the engine bay/ bulkhead of how it all connects just incase someone has been under there previously and done something wrong? He has hardwired the turbo to his Mitti Vac and driven and it all works fine . He is googling Mr Muscle tomorrow but not convinced it is sticky vanes. I got a new Garret turbo for £250 for him to put in but he does not want to spend all that time if the current turbo is ok and it is a pipe or hose or connection or something simples many many thanks in advance
  9. will do. Hopefully this latewrnator will work as it is a ****** getting them out - werdly going back in was easy. This has more do do with my veg oil set up than Skoda design. Next week replacing turbo- decided on a new one with warranty rather than a used one . £240 before paying for it to be fitted. Sigh.
  10. Looks ok to me. old one not off yet but photo of the two ends side by side and photo of bioth ends of the 'new ' one
  11. Yes it does go under battery but also as you said comes up to the battery terminal. Mechanic here now. I got in the end an exact copy of the cable from a Seat Leon mk1 for £20. Took me days to figure out what other cars had that cable as new they are £60-80. By any chance do you know what the 3 plugs are for? One must be for air conditioning but all of the diagrams I found have them numbered as 7,8,9 and 11 but no corresponding ledger
  12. ok thanks. i will show all this to my mechanic when he changes the alternator next week
