  1. While the gearbox is out check the clutch and plate to see if there any good. But if a lot of wear stick a new clutch kit in that save money down the line. Check the noise on the thrust bearing as well to make sure that's ok while the gear box is out.
  2. I checked the parts and the front 256mm discs are fine. The front pads are L 146mm H 54.65mm T 19.5mm. The tolerance Length 146mm Height 56mm Thickness 20mm max you able to fit. The brake pads make sure all 4 have the fitting clips that clip in the caliper piston and caliper housing. Just so other people looking at cross referencing different brand makes. just doing this I got the price from £90 to £52 every bit helps.
  3. Once the new gearbox is fitted some nice new gear oil and that should help the next gearbox last.
  4. I looked on gsf car parts found the front 256mm discs. The gsf car parts site shows sizes of pads but not for the discs sizes they fit. So I looked on euro car parts and there brake pads show what size discs they fit on so you can cross reference to gsf car parts same sizes. I've had prices of brakes on the front £90 in a lot of local motor factors for front discs and pads. Then to fit them anther £45 to £60. This is why I'm buying my own and fitting them for £50 easy job to do as well.
  5. I can seen the front discs options at 256mm. Just looked at the front brake pads any idea what size these are? I'm looking on gsf car parts. Thanks
  6. Hello I've got a skoda fabia 1.4 tdi 70bhp 2006 model. Just trying to find out the correct front vented discs and pads sizes to fit. There seems to be 239mm, 256mm and 288mm for front discs and pads options. Thanks
  7. The mpg on the fabia1.4 tdi mk1 compared to the mk2?
  8. I'm happy with my 306 hdi and skoda 1.4 tdi. Just looking at the future to see where things stand as I know things start to change with dpf, dmf and even add blue. These are the things I will stay clear of due to big problems I see regularly.
  9. The skoda fabia mk1 and mk2 1.4 tdi engines is there much difference in the next model to the old one? The mk2 is that still easy to work on and fix? When did the dpf and dual mass clutch start? I know the mk1 had 1.4 tdi 70 75 80bhp engines. Thanks
  10. It looks like my peugeot 306 hatchback boot but bigger. It's something I may add to my collection at some point when the next bargain comes along.
  11. That's interesting a good size difference. I will have to try and find some boot area pictures now might be something to look at next.
  12. Hello I'm looking to find out difference in size of the boot area from the hatchback to the estate. Thanks
  13. This is anther update since I fixed this wiring near the gearbox. The electric windows have been working fine as well so must be all linked to this problem.
  14. The front new coil springs I went for Lesjofors. I also replaced the top mounts and bearings. The old springs must have gone weak over time lower to the arches . The car sits much higher now from the arch bigger gap new springs. I can see a big difference in the handling now to.
  15. Hello one of my front coil springs broken at the top. So I'm looking to replace both front ones the same time. I'm looking to find decent coil springs which will last not the cheap rubbish that's out there poor metal. So I'm looking for brand makes and any reviews people have got from there own. Skoda fabia 1.4 tdi Thanks
  16. The price of engine oil cheap enough to change as well.
  17. Yes it does I've seen 3 or 4 gearboxes wrecked because the idea gearbox oil stays clean. It degrades over time and the company wont replace your gearbox with lifetime gearbox oil.
  18. The 3 or 4 gearboxes that went on me over 15 years ago the oil was thick black stinking. I still change gearbox oil never had a problem after. Oil no matter how clean something is inside it degrades over time hot and cold weather. The warm and cold engine makes a difference. The sake of spending £15 to £20 on gear box oil saves having to buy anther gearbox or have it fixed which costs far more. I always change fluids, oils no matter what when keeping the car long term nothing lasts a life time.
  19. I always change gearbox oil never had a gear box go in 15 years. The times before that 3 or 4 gear boxes gone problems changing gears all weathers, cold weather, reverse and certain gears. The linkage does need checking and looking at. But when I keep my cars long term gearbox oil always changed and I know it will last.
  20. I will post some pictures of the new alloy wheels fitted.
  21. The gearbox oil if that hasn't been changed in a long time well worth doing as well.
  22. The red battery light comes on when starting the car then goes of. It's working great now the battery charging good 14.5v no need for tiny rev when first started to make it charge properly. The car starts up much better when colder weather. Thanks for the help everybody.
  23. I will check this after to see if it lights up now the blue wiring fixed thanks.
  24. So which one on the panel doesn't display when the wiring broken just trying to see if it's showing now it's fixed.
