  1. Right all, I've taken the free insurance and I can clear up a few things now that I have. My dealer said no as well because of the 0% PCP Deal; It seems however, that the Skoda insurers (actually Allianz insurance) aren't aware of any of this. I called and said I'd like to take the year of free insurance and they said no problem. They just ask for the dealer ID and your reg number (as well as running through the usual T&C's and some exclusion clauses); You cannot claim the 5 days complimentary insurance AND the free year; The link claims you can have only one extra named driver, as it happens you can have two!; As for your NCB protection.... In my case, I have my existing car still insured therefore I can't port my NCB over anyway as it exists on another policy (I'm sure this applies to most). Therefore, start this new policy at 0 years of NCB so you have nothing to lose NCB wise. When I eventually sell my other Fabia, then I will have to terminate my insurance which has 9 years of NCB attached. When it comes to my new Skoda renewal next year, I'll just sign up with a 3rd party and port my old NCB over. Note that NCB will only last for 2 years, after which it expires. I should say that I was perfectly transparent with Skoda insurance, and told them that my other car had my NCB and that I'd like to start this one fresh at 0. They were absolutely fine with it. I also realise that if I did crash this Fabia, on renewal despite retaining my years of NCB my premium would still rise, so I would not be dodging anything in particular. However this method for me does allow me to secure my 9 years with the free insurance if the worst was to happen.... but it won't... I'm an eternal optimist Hope that makes sense!
  2. Great and thanks! I've done it, and am now insured for free! I was honest and I said I have another policy on another car with 9 years NCB, to which they said no problem and have put 0 on the new policy! I will do exactly as you said Pat, and transfer the NCB next year. Much appreciated to all who contributed!
  3. Wow, I didn't know that it worked like that! So just for clarity if I've understood you correctly.... this is what I'm going to do. My old Fabia will be for sale on Wednesday, I have no intention of keeping 2 cars (or 2 policies for that matter). So I'm going to call Skoda tomorrow, arrange my year of free insurance quoting 0 years of NCB. Which is legit anyway because I still have 6 months left on the other car. I will not contact GoGirl, unless I sell the car before April in which case I'll cancel the policy and ask for my 9 years NCB certificate. When it comes to Sept '16 I will cancel the free insurance, go back to one of the many online brokers, and reuse my 9 years NCB that I attained from GoGirl. Sound about right? 1 question though, if I did crash the new Fabia, obviously with 0 years of NCB on that policy, little happens. But, would I still be allowed in the future to use my other 9 years of NCB on the renewal, or does that become null because I crashed under a different policy? Sorry if this all sounds stupid, but I don't want to c*ck up and end up taking a free deal and losing all those lovely years of NCB. I do really appreciate the impartial advice!!!
  4. Well that first one's definitely an option! So wait a second, as my NCB can only be used on one policy (ie the one already in place on my old Fabia), then do I just say to Skoda for the free year that I have 0 NCB? Thus in a years time, I can use the 9 years from my then to be expired policy? Or will that expire in itself and revert to 0? I'm so confused! :/
  5. Hi all, I'm getting in a bit of a muddle with my insurance and need to know what to do. I've just bought a new Fabia and am collecting it on Wednesday. The following represents my current insurance position: I own a Skoda Fabia MKI which is insured with GoGirl (yea, I know....); I currently have 9 years protected NCB on this policy; It doesn't expire until April next year; Now, I have a new car as mentioned before, but how the hell do I deal with the switching of policies/NCB yada yada yada..? There are some options (I think) I have, but I don't know what to do.... help! Call up GoGirl and ask them to switch vehicles on the existing policy? By doing this however, I know this may incur an inordinately large fee, and how can I sell my other car if I can't get in it to let potential purchasers test drive it?; Take up the Skoda (Ageas) free year of insurance? However on speaking to them, they say that I cannot protect my 9 years of NCB and should I claim and it's my fault I will automatically go back to 3 years regardless of how many I have. Seems very risky to me....?; Take out a brand new policy, and at a glance, I'm looking at around £180 for the year. However, if I do this, what happens to my NCB (this question applies to #2. as well). I'm insured on a car already, so how do I transfer my NCB if it exists elsewhere? Can it mirror over various policies? And, I guess I can't say I have 9 years and 6 months? I'm so confused and I need some sound advice! Thanks all
  6. If it helps, mine just arrived and I ordered it only 5.3 weeks ago! It was moved forward by weeks!
  7. I guess nothing particularly exciting yet, but it's arrived and they let me have a little peak before my Wednesday collection. So excited!
  8. I must admit, in my current Fabia MK1 I've changed my driving style. My average MPG on the car claimed around 35.6...after switching my driving style a year later it now claim 41.7. I know 6mpg isn't much but it's amazing what you can gain from not banging it around (in my case anyway!)
  9. Hey all, Quick question. I have to go and sign paperwork for my car tomorrow and they will try and sell me a service package (however much that costs). My PCP is 42 months, although I think I'll upgrade after 3 years. Is it worth paying a monthly fee, or should I just stump up the cash once a year? In anyone's experience, which is better value? Thanks
  10. I'm sure it takes some time for mpg to settle down. It's never accurate at first!?
  11. If you're using Android Auto, HOLD the voice button in. That'll definitely work (without any voice training)!
  12. I think you're probably right Rob. Glad I didn't plump for the diesel now (not that I needed it anyway). Madness though, that's an incredibly quick turnaround considering my build was started 15 days ago. Much emptier cargo ships from Germany as well I rekcon. With that, I would imagine yours may even arrive in the UK before the end of this month!
  13. Oh and one question - I'm going to keep the car for 3/3.5 years then most likely trade it in for another. In terms of the service, is it best to pay a monthly figure to cover services, or just pay at the time of servicing as and when? Cheers.
  14. It's arrived. What the hell.... 5½ weeks since the order. 15 days ago I got an email saying the build had started, and I just got a call saying it's here and will be ready for collection early next week!
  15. I wonder if one can just pay them a small fee to protect the no claims bonus.... I won't ring them until I have my car (which is still in production).
  16. Hey all, For those who've bought a Fabia MK3 recently on PCP, there was an offer for free insurance which expired 30th Sept. Good news! It's been extended to 31st December. You should be able to claim it via this web page. There are a few T&C's but shouldn't be a problem for most. Hope it saves someone some money!
  17. Yea I know, I considered that too (ie cornering fogs) but I guess you still need to change the bulbs and have someone do it! I just cba haha. Plus it's on PCP and I have no intention of keeping the car as I will shift to an Octavia in a few years!
  18. Sorry just seen this. Yes, I ordered about 80% of the additional options! I had another call from my dealer on Friday saying definitely the end of Oct!
  19. Just for clarity, is the phone going into mute, or the car infotainment system?
  20. Phew I thought it was just me being fussy! I will try and work out a way of rerouting it neatly!
  21. Hey all, I've been thinking (or wondering)....are there any other USB slots in the car or just the one down by the cupholders? The reason I ask is because I'm a bit of an obsessive about messy cables etc.....(I know I know, ridiculous right?) If the phone is inoperable why have it somewhere visible? Is there a secondary USB in the glovebox or maybe even in the central arm rest? My mate's 1 series BMW has it in the arm rest and it seems the perfect place for it! Failing that I wonder if I could route a secondary cable into it..... Just a thought! Cheers!
