  1. Had look with a mirror beforehand and true enough, it's not an Allen key hex head it's a normal bolt 🙄 which is what was puzzling me.
  2. Well, precisely. Haynes manual says remove protective rubber things, they're like a sleeve over the bolt head that goes right inside, hence my difficulty in getting them off. Sleeve over bolt head means can't get a socket on 🤔 2nd photo shows one partly out bit it ripped in the process 😎
  3. Having trouble with the 7zap website, not accepting my Vin this time 😒, are these the right ones for FSII calipers? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/281216735752?fits=Car+Make%3ASkoda|Cars+Type%3A1.2|Plat_Gen%3AMK+I|Cars+Year%3A2007|Model%3AFabia|Variant%3APetrol+Hatch|Engine%3A1198cc+47KW+64HP+AZQ%3BBME|BodyStyle%3AFWD+I+6Y2&hash=item4179d2da08:g:ebgAAOSwqglhl7a~&amdata=enc%3AAQAIAAABAO%2Fh%2BkKaiqBxny%2Fsg4pgsFZfHTX2o%2B%2F2xRmPiHyazjWdBxLCbuTaEp7N2sWMPcbCVLPbRukBkCZDmwJvThkt1FhbvCDI6OrdXIW9CKTB3hxlMkZk80H4EY%2Bc6fr7%2FZvQ3IJdWGYykbfZFhj2lrdoxddp126n2YMSaNdWwNEoamFXW%2FCwVa8zo6BGQDAzg3jItPECX8agT3O93p6mvLBmQSVgMUMgGI2KyC9yw%2Bg1sXa6BW0eOp%2BIqIAQHTb2cN4uxSrM5inCx5HXsy1NZgwJtE7d9DQdheJOOqtM8pgB7UzKQYmZxIF05Y6TqP7Qmh0Fd1n%2BELL9lzpTEV9AQKfWYJM%3D|tkp%3ABFBMrtKVrLJj Ideally if someone can give me the part number that would be awesome. And is there a trick to getting them off without ripping? They go down the bolt shaft a way?
  4. Maybe they just reused the old nut? The offside is well rusty compared to this. I'm not doubting that they changed it but it looks like the boot has slipped out of the groove in one place and off.
  5. Local garage popped this on while I was having a couple of tyres recently, has the rubber boot thing come adrift already? Looks different to the older one on the other side.
  6. I do like when a 5 minute job really does take 5 minutes 👍🏻
  7. Job for the weekend then but I'll keep the new belt and spanner with me. It's only got a thread or two adrift on one edge.
  8. All the pullies look accessible on my 1.2 but Haynes manual says remove wheel and inner arch? How doable is it, bearing in mind I'll be doing it on the drive at night after work? 😬
  9. Our 2007 1.2 has got 95k+ on the clock and it has just started rhythmically vibrating on acceleration going straight. More so with engine under load at lower revs, is ok once it picks up speed. Don't think it's the exhaust joiner, that was fixed recently, there's loads of clearance and there's no outer CV noise on lock. Doesn't feel engine related, if anything that's smoother than ever with the new vaccuum hose. Some days it randomly was ok but now it 'always' does it when cold but almost impossible to get it to do it when fully warmed up on a run. Had a feel of the inner CVs, very slight play when hot (in other words it was possible to feel a tiny bit of movement both sides rotationally and in/out) and checked when cold expecting it to be worse but if anything there was less/no play in them.
  10. When you first noticed the noise, was it more noticeable when the engine was cold? I have a rattle when accelerating although not a CV type clicking.
  11. Replacing the old hard plastic stuff which was barely attached with £5 worth of 10mm vaccuum hose seems to be an improvement. Time will tell if it sorts the intermittent problem.
  12. Awesome, thanks chaps, just got a bit dark outside to notice the numbers.
  13. Righto. Any idea what part number am I looking for? 1.2 BME engine.
  14. They're shot, at every join. Ebay or ECP for the parts? I can nip to ECP on the commute.
  15. Might as well resurrect this post as the limp mode intermittent fault came back after 2 years and approximately 35k miles of happy motoring. If memory serves, changing the camshaft sensor seemed to stop the limp mode at speed/accelerating away from roundabouts and replacing the damaged/cracked coil stopped it stalling when idling at junctions. The limp mode was intermittent so I suppose replacing either or both might have helped although I'm convinced changing a coil stopped the lumpy idle and stalling. Anyway I'll let you know how I get on this time 😊
  16. You could well be right 😁 So is that joiner standard for 1.2 engines?
  17. This is the blighter. Apparently they come off the production line in one piece but to replace the back box you have to cut the pipe, hence the join.
  18. At least one of the brackets has rusted through and what with the bloke at the garage doing something to the flexpipe section, it's all come loose and the joiner's knocking and rubbing on that cross member. Looking on eBay there's one for a 2006-2007 6Y5 1.2 estate, will that be ok on a hatchback?
  19. Rather tellingly, I couldn't even give it away on Freecycle. In the bin it goes 😁
  20. Any good and is it actually bad for the engine? Free gift in the post for a neighbour who didn't fancy it.

  22. Gosh, thanks Pete that's me more or less sorted. What does 1LB mean? The 'correct' pads on Eurocarparts are all 1LM?
  23. I'm thinking ATE type
