  1. Ah nice one! I have a Superb 3T CR140 and I think they suffer from a similar problem with the door wiring. I suppose it could be an earthing issue anywhere though so could be a challenge to find. Thanks for updating the thread! I'll do the same if I get to the bottom of it.
  2. @Jamesotaylor I have just started experiencing this issue, intermittently it seems but same behaviour. Idle goes to 1k and the power steering is juddering / cutting out. Switching off ignition and restarting goes back to normal. Battery seems healthy and alternator is working OK based on running voltage of 14.2V Did you make any progress or solve it yet?
  3. Yeah local independent, always worth ringing round a few (reputable) places for quotes. Door wiring, I think there's a classic issue where the loom is too tight near the hinges and it frays, not a fun job having looked at a car that issue then looking at some fix threads! good luck.
  4. Hi, yeah it was bang on the money, I think I paid about £160 including original skoda part plus they cleaned my throttle body and checked my timing belt. It heats up quickly now at sits at the correct temperature
  5. I've booked mine in for main thermostat replacement next week, when I was first chatting with the guy on the phone he asked about the cabin temperature and said the matrix was a common issue with VAG. Could be worth a look then. For me the cabin heating is fine, if anything it seems to heat up pretty quickly, maybe because the thermostat is stuck open? Not sure if it controls flow through the matrix... I will update once the job is done, hoping it fixes it as it's an educated stab in the dark really
  6. Even on the motorway I'm finding the first hour the oil temp struggles to hit 80C with coolant needle quite low, then after an hour oil temp seems to happily sit just over 80 but the coolant needle occasionally dips below 90 still. I have a old diesel Panda and that is up and down like a yoyo, I guess diesels just don't run so hit. Whereas my V6 is up to temp in about three minutes!
  7. Did you get this sorted? I've just experienced a very similar outcome after changing the DSG regulator, the previous part was less than a year old and seemed fine when I blew into it. But the problem went away and assumed I was done. But it's playing up again already.
  8. According to the Febi website it's 75C https://partsfinder.bilsteingroup.com/en/article/febi/172376 I fitted this exact part yesterday and it's sorted the issue, sadly the previous one (different brand) didn't even last a year!
  9. I was going to say it was such an easy job, and then I realised you're replacing the sidelights not the DLRs I had to replace the ballasts before, now that is a fun job...
  10. I think they're the same bulbs as the sidelights? They were added after the EU regulations came in but before the 2013 facelift of the Superb which added proper DLR. They're in the fog light housing.
  11. Can you recommend the DLR LEDs? I need to replace one and might as well go LED.
  12. Yeah the Panda is redundant other than the MPG (and fun factor in the snow). I reckon keep the Golf and flog the Karoq and Dispatch and get a passenger van or MPV. Maybe a nice Vito splitter? I think eventually we'll get a van, for taking the Grandparents with us on trips etc,
  13. Thanks Davie, the angel on my shoulder. I think you're right. I've also got a Panda 169 Cross which the daily replaced and I can't bear to get rid of it, no room on the drive though 😢
  14. This is helpful, thanks!! There's a CR170 manual 4x4 2010 with 120k on the clock near me listed for £2k, bit tatty but I reckon it'd go for £1500, seems like a good deal to me. £300 tax so not a massive saving and MPG might not be a lot better...
  15. Help me make up my mind 😵 My Superb (2013 L&K Estate) has become our second car since buying a LEAF. We recently bought a caravan and I dropped a wedge on fitting a very nice removable tow bar to the Superb. Since it's going to be used mostly for long distance drives and towing (plus maybe some local journeys too) I'm looking at the £600+ tax and ~25MPG and thinking, should I get rid? I love the car, 4x4 is great in Aberdeenshire winters and for towing. I'm looking at another Superb II or a Passat B8, ranging from the 1.6 ~100HP to the CR170, 2 and 4 wheel drive. The 1.6 MPG seems very tempting and I think I can live without the grunt. Am I mad to consider this? I also know I've serviced my V6 like a baby and it's been faultless.
  16. What kind of MPG do you get on long trips and if/when you tow a caravan? I'm considering getting rid of my V6 as it's purely a towing & long distance car now. Do you have the FSH?
  17. Since I'm now a Skoda owner I thought I best join a community... Hello all! I'm a sucker for estates and just about to start a family so diving in at the deep end of practicality ;) I can't just have a normal version of a car though and needed a worthy successor to my E39 540 manual sport touring.... So I'm now the proud owner of a Mk2 Superb Estate, V6 L&K Look forward to getting some insight and tips and probably some help along the way! Cheers, Tom
