  1. As for Seb, I never really liked him much until I saw a candid interview with him after Ferrari announced they were dumping him. I’m not going to jump on the bandwagon and say he was treated harshly as a four-time world champion and I get the red team’s vision with Charles and Carlos, but it could have been handled a little more sensitively (albeit in the cut-throat world of Formula One). I’ll never forget Brundle commentating while Seb was driving for Red Bull that it was monotonous seeing him qualify P1 every Saturday then scampering away in the race so nobody could catch him. That was when I decided I wasn’t Vettel’s biggest fan but, in hindsight, this is exactly what Lewis is doing now and we all know the Mercedes are poor at overtaking midfield cars which in itself is a rare circumstance that we pine to see. So, as far as I’m concerned, I’ll be waving a little British Moss Green flag this season with a hopefully rejuvenated Seb sitting in what can only be an improved car on last year’s Racing Point. Thoughts?
  2. I was thinking along the same lines, expecting a splash of sponsors’ colours here and there but upon reflection considering it’s Aston Martin’s return after so long, I wonder if Stroll Sr. wanted to go full on-on bold green.
  3. Was particularly looking forward to this launch and seeing Seb in a different pair of overalls. Bit anti-climatic as I expected the obligatory Aston Martin green but it is rather… dull?
  4. All of the above… I think.
  5. So I’m very pleased with my 2007 Superb, had it three weeks and thought I’d give it a full service. Probably glutton for punishment as it will be pointed out what the faults are with a 13 year old diesel with 85,000 on the clock. In this particular model, what should I expect?
  6. Possibly, be good to see. I always forget how young Max is!
  7. This screams at me that Lewis will be leaving Mercedes at the end of this year. Another team? I think he’ll take his 8 titles and do whatever else he feels is important… as no one will ever beat that figure.
  8. Would you mind elaborating on this? I don’t know anything about that!
  9. Totally agree, can only see positives for this race. I notice that Vietnam is off the calendar and is likely to never host a race in the near future. Shame, as I love new tracks testing drivers; I’ve played the venue online and it’s fast, tight and challenging with some beautiful (but deadly) chicanes in it. Imagine Baku with less acute angles.
  10. Just rewatched the 2020 Eifel race and I enjoyed it; made me think of that dedicated F1 forum where they’re really up themselves and because they’ve done a bit of karting they think they can bad-mouth the likes of Lewis and co. - and even Schumi. Ah well. By the way, anyone play F1 2020 online on Xbox?
  11. Found the standard VW 6 CD changer in my boot last weekend with a case thingy too. Free to any member who will pay postage or collect from West Midlands. No gimmicks or catches, I’ll never use it… don’t even know if it works. I’ll post pictures if there’s any interest in it. First come, first served!
  12. Thanks for the clarification. So, for me, next year will be the biggest shake up of the sport in a long time; unless the 2025 power unit change is that big?
  13. I’m looking forwards to next year’s overhaul of the cars (is 2025 the engine reg changes?) but I don’t think it will level the playing field as they hope.
  14. Totally agree, especially the last paragraph. Like him or loathe him, you have to respect Lewis’s speed.
  15. That’s a very interesting angle that didn’t get my attention. There’s a very big F1 forum on the net that’s very opinionated and negative, but I absolutely love Formula One. The sprint race thing I suppose they have to trial. It’s about evolving, not taking away from the sport IMO That’ll sting in the morning. Ouch!
  16. Ah - I actually do know what those things are 😂 Very helpful, thank you!
  17. It’s basically a “shake-up” of the format to show F1 cares for its fans. Bluntly put, it’s still a speed contest. So the fastest will start P1. So no difference. The reverse grid would be cool, as the Mercedes cars have trouble passing traffic, but it would take away the ethos and purity of F1 racing which is meant to be the pinnacle of motorsport.
  18. Yes, I think so. It’s theoretically better than a reverse grid but I can’t see what outcome it would have.
  19. Traditional quali on a Friday. Yep, I know.
  20. What do people think of the potential Saturday sprint race for grid positions to be trialled in 3(?) race weekends this year? A no from me.
  21. Just bought a 2007 Superb and guess what? My interior lights don’t work. I’m not one to mess with cars (I just make them worse) so the idea of ripping up my rear carpet horrifies me. The area in question isn’t damp or contain moisture as such; it’s just a little cold. Considering the very cold weather in the UK this week, I really haven’t had a proper chance to go round my new purchase (which I adore) with a fine tooth comb. My question, however, is a simple one and please forgive me for the banality of it: where are the scuttle holes located? I’ve googled it and looked at this thread but it’s not very clear. Are they either side underneath of that big plastic cover beneath the windshield which also houses the battery? I don’t want to go pulling unnecessary bits off my new motor, but I’m savvy enough to understand that it is very important to keep these drainage holes clear of debris. Any help, and nice pictures, would be greatly appreciated.
  22. Hi, great forum here! I wanted a Superb since 2013 but wasn’t prepared to go all out on finance for one. Over the past few years I’ve bought some right dodgy cars just to “get me by” and the option of buying a 2007 Mk1 for a very affordable price came up as an option very recently. I checked on this forum for the model’s regular faults and decided to take a chance on it. Yeah, I know about the water ingress issue and the potential of the PD engine failing via the oil pump; for such a lovely car that’s 14 years old I can live with it. What a beast! What quality! I could go on all day, but, as the section implies… Hello!
