  1. I’m still waiting for a fix. I’d been told Q3 this year, so potentially 15 months after I took delivery of the car, but recently the dealer told me a factory fix was coming by the end of June. It’s really disappointing, but just one of a few glitches I’m experiencing with my mark 4 Octavia.
  2. I’ve had my 21 plate Octavia for two months now and the sat nav is driving me crazy. I keep saving my home address but every time I turn the ignition off it disappears. The system is overall very good, and as an SE L model the map that appears in the instrument binnacle is excellent, but why won’t it save my home address or indeed any favourites that I save? It’s maddening.
  3. It’s these lashing eyes that my car is missing. As inspectorman has suggested above there may be the holes for the lashing eye fittings under the roof lining. I’ve had a feel along that part of the car but can’t trace anything obvious. I might just swing by the dealer next time I’m passing by & see if they can help or advise. If there’s a way of sorting it then I’d like to do it. If it’s too much trouble… Anyone want a luggage partition next from a Mark III Octavia estate?!
  4. I think the saloon/hatch must use a different system. When I look at the configurator for the estate the partition net looks identical to the one from my Mark III Octavia. It’s just that my new car is missing the fixing points in the roof, as per this picture. It’s all very frustrating! I think my bet bet is to call the dealer & ask if there’s a retro fit.
  5. I’ve just swapped my Octavia estate Mk III for a Mk IV estate. When I ordered the Mk IV the luggage net wasn’t available as an option, but I notice that on the configurator it now can be selected. Having this on the Mk III I took the liberty of taking out the net & unscrewing the mounts, as it seems the barrels for the screws are there beneath the fabric on the back of the rear seats of the Mk IV. I had moments to do this while both cars were next to each other before my Mark III was whisked away by the delivery driver. Consulting briefly with him he agreed with my logic. All seemed fine & I was impressed with my own ingenuity, but…! Sitting in my new Mk IV I looked back & saw there are no mounting points inside on the roof of the car for the net pull up and attach/fix to. Question: Are these only fitted when selecting the partition net at the order stage? Or can they be fitted by the dealer? Have I made a mess by taking the partition net out of my old Octavia and expecting it to fit the new model? I’m annoyed at the thought of depriving the owner of my used Mark III if I can’t anyway use it in my new Mk IV. The first image is of me having removed the mounts for the partition net from my old Mark III and the second shows there are no hooking points for the net to lift up to and fix into.
  6. Just in on Monday. A straight swap for my race blue mark 3 model. First impressions? I’m pretty impressed & the mark 4 seems more premium than the 3.
  7. Hi, Joss. My new Octavia estate has arrived a couple of days ago and I’m slowly getting to know it. On the subject of the spare wheel as stated before mine has the larger spare which, if I’ve understood it correctly, is strictly speaking very marginally smaller than the wheels & tyres on the car. The spare is a 205/60 R16 and the four tyres on the car are 205/55 R17. Realistically I think there’s very little in it. I said I’d share a couple of pictures so here you go. Certainly with the larger spare it pretty much fills the well, and the floor sits right on top. With my last car, a mark 3 model, I had the mini spare, and could fit various bits & pieces around the outside of the wheel between it and the walls of the tyre well in the boot floor, but aside from some thin gloves and emergency plastic bags I can’t fit much in between. I hope this gives you some useful guidance but if I can help any more just let me know. Cheers.
  8. Hi, Joss. I can’t give you a definitive answer other than to say I would expect so, yes. The spare wheel I’ve opted for in my order is almost the size of a full-size wheel, it’s as near as damn it! I’ve had an indication that my car should be with me in three weeks, so if it would help I can post a picture & send you any relevant measurements. Regards.
  9. Mine’s a company car, so will be going back to the lease supplier. It does look nice, being the SEL model in Race Blue, and has a load of options: sunroof, LED light pack, silver roof rails, load partition net, multi digital display... though it has had a few glitches including a stressful breakdown so I won’t be entirely disappointed to see it go. It’s a shame as it’s lovely to drive and a really comfortable place to be when on a long journey. The interior definitely helps. The colour of the steering whell has never crossed my mind, but now that it has... I think all black is fine!
  10. I had a boot divider net fitted as an option on my 18 plate Octavia estate but it doesn’t appear to be available on the new model. I’ve ordered a new Octavia estate & have wondered about sliding the divider net out of my existing car & hoping it fits the new one, but I don’t want to then be lumbered with it if it doesn’t fit, & to also deny the next owner of this useful extra feature (especially if it doesn’t fit my new Octavia). It’s annoying that it doesn’t seem to be available on the new model. But if anyone can advise whetherI can transfer the divider from my current Octavia to the new one I’d be very grateful.
  11. I drive an 18 plate Skoda Octavia with beige seats (black carpet, of course) and I’ve really enjoyed the lighter interior & more airy feel that comes with it. So much so I’ve ordered a new Octavia & have opted for beige again. My 18 plate car, an estate, also had the panoramic roof, but my new one won’t. I do think the fact I won’t have the sunroof this time means the lighter interior will work even better. I think you’ve made he right choice.
  12. I thought this was going to be straightforward but far from it! I’ll just have to order the new Octavia with the larger spare & see what happens. Hopefully it’s all academic & I never need to use it anyway. Thanks.
  13. Thanks for your comments. When I order my new Octavia I will select this larger space-saver spare, as it’s still preferable to the “skinny” space-saver in my 2018 Octavia, but I appreciate it’s still not a full spare so as you state the same speed restrictions will apply.

  15. Thanks for your reply. But the 205/60 R16 is actually a full size wheel, isn’t it? It’s just odd how on the Skoda configurator it’s stated as being a “Temporary Space Saver Spare Wheel” and yet it’s actually a full size spare, albeit the wheel is an inch smaller, and the tyre profile higher, and it’s clearly not an alloy wheel the same as the other four on the car. But it’s a proper wheel, so therefore can be driven on at normal speeds, unlike the T125/70 R18 in my current car. Okay, that’s cleared it up. It was the description on the configurator that confused me. In which case, I’d always rather have a proper spare, and not a space-saver spare, so when ordering my new Octavia I’ll select the optional 205/60 R16 wheel. Thanks. I felt I was asking something obvious but needed to put it out there to make sure I wasn’t on the wrong track!
  16. I’m getting a bit confused by space-saver wheel sizes, in particular the difference between the space-saver in the boot of my 2018 Octavia estate and the space-saver Skoda now offers as an option in the new, latest model Octavia estate. My space-save is a T125/70/R18 but the new Octavia space-saver option seems to be a 205/60/R16 which, unless I’m very much mistaken, is a full-size wheel, isn’t it? The latest Octavia brochure shows this wheel/tyre as being an option, along with a 125/70/R18 tyre, though this is shown as not available for the 1.5 TSI engine. I want to know if I can take the space wheel out of my 2018 car and put it in the boot floor of a brand new Octavia estate I’m about to order as a replacement company car. I assume the T125/70/R18 I have will fit the new Octavia, should the need arise, but can anyone confirm? If so I’ll avoid ticking the box for a spare wheel on the new car options list and just retain the space-saver from my current 2018 car. I had to pay extra for it when taking my current car almost 3 years ago hence I want to keep it if it can be used on the new Octavia. Pictures attached. Any guidance on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
