Start Stop Error, ECP and Engine Light after not using a car for a bit
Reply from Skoda this morning. If I had a misfire the engine light would come on and it didn't Hope you are well. It is unfortunate that the replacement coil didn’t fix your issue and the EPC light came back on. The start stop system won’t cause the issue you are describing so I think it is important to separate this from the root cause investigation. We see many variations of issues on the range of cars we look after however, your issue doesn’t relate to any historic technical information. The only way to find out what is going on is to book your vehicle in for something along the lines of ‘investigate misfire symptoms, EPC light comes on and car judders’. Start stop will always error and become unavailable when there is a fault on the car so this is potential a pseudo fault. A complicating factor may be that you keep connecting your diagnosis tool and this can cause us issues identifying what is going on especially if you carry out a clearance of codes as this will erase all code history and it may be that your reader just can’t see something that it then subsequently erases. This may not be the case however, to identify what is going on we need all the information we can possibly get, particularly in cases where the fault isn’t present all the time. I would recommend do not modify the car at all as this will introduce new faults that will mask anything going on. When the EPC light comes on and the symptoms happen again, do not connect anything to the car. Call us up and make a booking to get the investigation booked in as above. You will need to make a booking and not just visit us as we are normally at capacity on any given day. Please be aware that we will not be able to investigate this fault without charge as the time this may consume. We can offer the initial investigation time at £60, if the fault then requires more time this will be requested on the day of the visit. Therefore it is important that if you decide to use us to investigate this matter further, the car is in a state of error when you book it in, EPC light on and fault occurred. I would also recommend booking it in for a number of days, 3-4 day period so that it gives the technician the flexibility to test the car and identify what is going on.

Exmoor is North Devon, I live on the edge of Dartmoor and yes I have driven the B3212 many times

Start Stop Error, ECP and Engine Light after not using a car for a bit
I have a service plan with Skoda and it had a full service about 4 months ago. Probably best I take it on Dartmoor, More opportunity for long straight road with not much traffic. Won't accelerate hard in Sport 1 or Sport 2

Because we were told to use E10 and Momentum was E5. I am going back to Momentum. I am not sure about my mechanic But I have used them for years with no problem. Skoda are useless

OK, I'll try to get it between 3000-5000 RPM. Is there an additive that can help?

I'll put it in 2nd ion manual shift and go from there. I've also never used sports

I check my oil temp every time I drive and it is always on 90c. So when it get to 90 put it in neutral and rev it up to between 3000-5000rpm

Is that the case for an automatic? Would it be the same if I was stationary, in Neutral and rev it ?

You may have a point about the Petrol. I always used to use Tesco Momentum but since the grades have changed and Momentum is E5 I use regular E10. Think I will return to Momentum. What are Italian tune up's?

My car is Automatic. I will give it a good run on Sunday. The point I made about the turbo and carbon build up any observations?

Start Stop Error, ECP and Engine Light after not using a car for a bit
The coil was changed by the garage I usually use not Skoda as they told me to take it back when the engine light came on and stayed on. You can imagine the Choice words I had with the after sales manager on the phone, he said it was cross communication. Anyway the garage I usually use picked up the exact same error that my reader found on the day I took it to them. They said my Sparkplug was OK and the wiring looked OK. I put down that my wife said the engine light came on, I think she probably saw the engine light stay on a bit longer when the engine was switched on. I checked for a code but there wasn't one. If the engine light had come on signalling a fault it would be stored. I have reconnected the cable to the battery and will use the on/off A button each time we drive it. Some people on the thread are talking about Carbon build up in the turbo and also actuator rod getting stuck and something about westgate or wastegate not working properly

Start Stop Error, ECP and Engine Light after not using a car for a bit
Same problem here with the EPC light coming on and eventually the engine light. Been to the local Skoda garage twice when only the EPC light stayed on. They found nothing. The engine light came on about 2 weeks ago. My code reader found P2309 "ignition coil D Primary control Circuit Low" I took it to my go to garage who Checked and replaced the coil on Cylinder 4. Ok for a couple of days. Thought it too good to be true. Wife at work starts the car and the engine light comes on. Nothing she can do so she turns the engine off and then on again and the engine light stays off. She gets home I put the reader on and nothing, no codes historical or otherwise. Today I was driving and the EPC light came on and the car started to vibrate. Not far from home so I managed to get home and look at vehicle status which says No Entries Available, so I press the Info button and it says "STOP START SYSTEM STATUS". ERROR START - STOP SYSTEM. Connect my reader no error codes showing so I press the clear codes button to see if anything happens and low and behold the EPC light goes out. I have disconnected the cable that goes to my Battery turning off the start stop system, took it for a drive, No problems. Will have to contact Skoda again tomorrow. Any advice would be welcomed. Mike

The Skoda garage told me that codes are re-set when you turn the engine off. Yes they did swap coils over, they also did a compression test. Let's hope this is the end of this now

No more problems until the day I took the car into my normal garage. On the morning I took the car to my garage I wasn't expecting much. I didn't think thei diagnostic machine would pick up anything because I believed the car had reset codes when it was turned off. Luckily for me when i started the car up on that morning the engine light came on. I left it on and drove to the garage. I go them to connect the diagnostic machine up while it was still running. Low and behold they brought up the exact same error I did Coil 4. They replaced the coil (plugs were fine) with an original, reset the codes. Now we wait to see what happens

I will Thanks

The reason I won't leave it with Skoda is that as it is intermittent it could be there for weeks and weeks. My usual garage is far better than Skoda. I will change around the coils 3&4. If there is no fault I will change them back next Sunday before going to the garage on the 20th

Would that fault bring up the EPC light?

Engine Control Module - There can be some engine performance issues due to faulty engine control module. If the ECM fails or has any problems it can lead to performance issues with the vehicle like misfires, hesitation, loss of power, and sometimes even decreased fuel economy. Powertrain Control Module - PCM stands for powertrain control module. It is a car part, a control unit which is utilized on motor vehicles. It is generally a combined control unit, consisting of the engine control unit (ECU) and the transmission control unit (TCU). Fuel Tank Pressure Sensor - The pressure sensor is important component that informs the PCM about the optimal fuel pressures and helps in managing the air to fuel ratios for maximum performance and fuel efficiency. Thus, buy new pressure sensor now! Fuel Injector - Faulty fuel injector, it will cause rough idles and difficulty in starting. Also, it will affect the fuel economy and engine performance. Fuel injector can also crack or break leading to leakages and should be replaced immediately. Electronic Control Unit - If your automobile's check engine light remains on constantly, and never goes off, there's a good chance that your vehicle has a damaged electronic control unit. There are a lot of reasons why a car's check engine light will remain on. The most common reason is a defective ECU. Maybe there are no historic codes that's why nothing shows up
