MkIV Octavia VRS Audio upgrade - disappointing
Yes, however your DSP will need to be retuned as it's no longer the same signal going in.

MkIV Octavia VRS Audio upgrade - disappointing
For the Octavia 3 (i assume similiarly octavia 4 as it's all MQB), you can use VCDS and modify the speaker output type in 5F infotainment. Once you set it to external booster, it will switch the speaker output to low level and flatten the signal. (there is still a slight roll off at full blast). You can then remove the brown connector from the radio plug and insert your own.

MkIV Octavia VRS Audio upgrade - disappointing
A good tip for anyone else doing these type of installs, make sure you have the MIB reporgrammed to external Booster or DSP. This disables most of the factory EQ's & rolloffs. Without that modification, you'll get a very distorted signal that even DSP's struggle with.

Police car video input
Hi, i notice on allot of VAG cars including skoda, police versions have a way of using the factory display & touchscreen to show their own computer. I was wondering if anyone knew how this worked. I know most VAG police cars have a special module underneath the rightside seat that allows them to interact with the car (making the brights flash, etc) However as for video feed, i was curious how this worked. Do they use a display intercept module? Thank you kindly

Custom car audio installation
Late to this post, but it's worth nothing that if you set the MIB to external amplifier vcds). It will flatten the EQ and change the output to low line.

Quadlock speakers-only T loom
Hey folks, just wanted to share this for those who ever plan on adding an external Amplifier or subwoofer. We all know about the big T loom's for the quad lock connector, which works fine for most. But i'm a bit of a perfectionist and i don't like a couple of things about the big T loom. No shielding on any of the mic or camera wire, this will introduce noise No twisted pairs on the speaker / CAN wiring, this will introduce noise Big and bulky, making it a tight fit behind the MIB. So i wanna do it a bit differently. Inside the factory connector, there is a brown plug. Which handles the speakers. I removed this part from the connector and built a T harness for the speaker part alone. This greatly reduces the size of the harness, and doesn't disturb the rest of the factory loom. Looks neater and is completely removable. Some companies also make premade looms as this same connector is used in Mercedes Benz and other VAG vehicles. some notable examples: https://www.caraudio.nl/artikel/luidsprekerverloop-ql-iso-8-polig-voor-vag-en-mb-ailvqlv_iso There are some UK dealers too: https://www.audiotec-fischer.de/en/dealer (select Great Britain) I hope this helps people in the future make cleaner speaker output looms. And please DO NOT CUT INTO FACTORY LOOMS. The future car owner will thank you.

Infotainment retrofitting
I'm quite interested in the 6 channel driven from unit mode, any way of doing this with a simple VCDS? Thanks mate.

Police cars - Video input
Heya folks! I had a bit of a curiosity about this for a while. On most of the Dutch & Belgian police vehicles that drive with VAG vehicles have a function where they can display video on the OEM infotainment that their onboard camera has recorded. Most of these are just ordinary Amundsen of Columbus units that don't look any different than consumers get. I'm curious how this is done? wiring diagrams show no video inputs for these radio's, except for a simple reverse camera. The police cars are able to display video when driving too. Is this a separate emergency vehicle only module somewhere?

wheel size coding?
Morning folk', I bought a set of 18" Gemini's to replace the 17" on my 1.8TSI prefacelift. I was wondering if any coding is required, the wheel size should be very similar but I read somewhere that vcds had a correction feature for it. With the current set of 17" OEM, my Speedo is off about 2.5mph Many thanks! Does anyone have picture or Gemini's fitted on normal octy's? Thanks

panoramic sunroof replacement
Hello, sadly my panoramic sunroof has failed. It started clicking heavily for months now and even after greasing it sounded quite horrible. Last week it failed catastrophically, the glass is now crooked and the mechanism has jammed. My local dealer quoted me 1066 quid for a new sunroof without fitment. I found a used one from a burned wreck (interior didn't burn but had soot damage), my question is...Which seals do you recommend replacing? Does anyone know what kind of weight i can expect? Thank you kindly

O3 PTC heater retrofit
Yeah i tried searching the relay names in the wiring schematics, but i only find them on diesel ECU's. Quite the shame! I could probably just hook it up to a manual switch, but i'm not sure if that's a safe thing to do.

O3 PTC heater retrofit
Hmm it seems i may have to put this retrofit aside, i just noticed there's no pins for the ECU on petrol models. 😞
