Skoda want £498 for the kit inc coolant SAF local car parts dealer want about £150 for a BGA one but it doesn’t come with the housing but I can get one from eBay says INA so Schaeffler product for £200 and mechanic can do the job for £150 I just need guidance of where to get the kit from that’s not Skoda seeing as my mechanic can do it for less than half the price

Hi Dave yeah I know it’s a chain on these but I really need guidance on what I actually need to do the job as in what do I need in the kit. I have seen a few different kits and I am not sure what’s needed.

I’m not suggesting for one minute that I am going to attempt it myself changing the alternator was bad enough for me! I know how much room there isn’t in there and the amount of hours it will take to do it I wanted clarification of what I need and where the pump was and what I need to fix it for example do I buy a pump separately for £80 or do I need thermostat, pump housing and belt and maybe more or even timing belt kit like I have seen online in the kits? That’s the part I have no idea about!

Hi all I have a 2016 Octavia VRS 2ltr petrol that has a little coolant leak from roughly the front middle of the engine my mechanic said it’s the water pump but I have been told the water pump is to the left under the alternator. Can someone clarify this please and also if it is the pump what I actually need? Again same mechanic said it comes as a kit with pump thermostat belt etc but what do I need to replace? I know it’s the housing that fails so do the kits have everything? Sorry if this is long winded I just have no idea Thanks

Hi everyone I have a 2016 Octavia VRS petrol and was wondering if the height of the clutch pedal can be adjusted? The height of mine is about half inch higher than the brake pedal and it’s not comfy if you know what I mean? I know on older cars they could be adjusted And info would be appreciated Thanks

Hi guys just got my first Skoda a 2016 octavia VRS 2.0 TSI (maybe not sure as it said TFSI but engine cover says TSI) and wondered what were the best tires to use for grip as mine are terrible in 1st 2nd and 3rd for spinning under hard acceleration. They are an unknown manufacture to me that’s on now. I have the extreme 19” alloys and manual gearbox. thanks

Thanks urban bodged another repair on it for now but it’s still spluttering on idle even when warm but seems to pull better!

Where is the oil going then? She only uses it for the school run and work so maybe 8 miles a day and it needs topping up every 3-4 weeks!

Also after changing the Denso spark plugs that have been in for just over 12 months and roughly 6k miles they look like this! Is this from fuel air mix or temp? Thanks

Hi guys just trying to change the wife’s spark plugs in her VRS and noticed a bodged repair on a breather hose that had electrical tape around it. I’m no technician so have no idea what it’s called to find a replacement so here are a few pics. If anyone can help me I would be grateful.

G13 is waterless!

It’s sorted fuse blown for coil packs and one had split! Now radiator change is it right these are waterless coolant systems and is it G13? Thanks

No but it was missing/stuttering it went to the garage to see about the water leak and to make sure it wasn’t head gasket I don’t think they have TBH now at all!

Also the water leak wasn’t the water pump that we spent £100 on but was the radiator so I have a new one ready to fit if and when we get the bloody bag if **** back.

Quick update garage said at 90 odd thousand miles and no history of the chain being replaced to get it done straight away so seeing as the wife took it down and the option was £100 plus fitting for chain or £200 for chain and VVT pulley she chose the cheap one! Got car back last week and started spluttering again EML light on with fault cam/crank position correlation so looked like timing was out so garage had it back and said until the VVT gets done there is no way the timing will be set right! so VVT pulley was fitted on Thursday and I got a call just after 5 saying the fault had come back on and was spluttering again! Now we have a Skoda specialist coming down next week to solve the issues. Can anyone please offer anything to what they think is wrong? The garage said they did think the best option was a £5 can of petrol and a box of matches lol

been in just over 10,000 miles son said number 1 was worst and 2 coil packs if that’s what you call them were split so he fixed those took it for a drive no miss fire and seemed smoother also upgraded air filter so it breathes better. In at garage tomorrow for head gasket test and chain looked at but pretty pleased so far fingers crossed there’s a split pipe or airlock but as long as it’s right for the wife that’s most important and it only stands me at £1500 atm well apart from plate and plugs lol thanks for all your replies and does anyone have email address for Skoda CS? These are the plugs just removed 1-4 left to right VW AG NGK ones to me they just look like old plugs! Also it’s drank a bit more water since yesterday so might be a head gasket going doesn’t seem to be any oil/water mix in the engine or header but the sons Corsa VXR never had any either just a miss fire. Booked in with my engine friend tomorrow so he can check the timing chain and head gasket but the water pump and supercharger bit got done last year.

just called the local Skoda and got told the engine was replaced in 2012 for the oil issue, i asked for the print out of history and details but its Skoda's property but he told me to call Mitchell Skoda where the work as done. not sure of the number of past owners atm as i am at work. i did have to fill the header tank last night though as, as the wife said it binged at her and this funny red light was on! header was almost dry but not sure of how long it hadn't been checked!

Only on start up for a second if that then super quiet until this morning but typical woman it only happens to her lol

I can’t see anything in there Just put her private plate on it VR51 BEC but didn’t think it would have changed so quick

Thanks for the reply Roottoot i am not sure if the water pump has ever been replaced or what recalls have ever been done on it. no codes were stored the first time it happened but not sure about this time my son scans them for us but he’s at work till later today. the guy that did the clutch said the chain needs replacing and advised us not to drive it too far or hard until it had been done but apart from the slight rattle on cold start up the engine is as quiet as a mouse when stopping at traffic lights it’s as if it has start stop as you can’t hear the engine at all.

Morning all the wife recently acquired a 60 plate VRS with 90k on the clock for £900 needing a new clutch managed to get this done for £600 so all in car was a bargain so we thought the first day she drove it the EML started flashing on and off and there was a judder as she called it. she switched it off and on and it went away i researched it on here and saw the spark plug issue which we are fitting new Denso ones this evening but this morning she had more issues same stretch of road tootling along at 30 same judder flashing EML etc so switched it off and on and then she said the engine rattled like mad on idle. i presume it would be ideal to get the timing chain replaced so have been quoted £250 for this to be done but what else could it be? She has said this is the last thing she is doing if it doesn’t work then she’s getting rid! Anyone had the same issues or any more info re this for guidance would be great thanks and sorry for the long story!
