  1. Any recommendations as to cleaning the retractable cover .? My efforts with a proprietory spray left streaky residue Thanks in advance
  2. Aye , it does that sometimes too- you tend to get a quick wipe of some sort of you don't use too much , but the other day was very bad . In nearly every layby there was a car or two cleaning their windscreen .Safe motoring.
  3. Thanks . Gonna give it one more try with stronger fluid before speaking to garage
  4. Journey yesterday starting in - 6C , jets didn't clear until I'd parked for about half an hour despite some windscreen anti freeze stuff . Have now doubled and hoping for tomorrow I see there's a heated option when new, but can this be retro fitted, thanks Otherwise enjoying 2.0 Tsi SEL petrol estate
  5. Many thanks , as you say , with wheel off ..Cheers
  6. Did you remove the arch liners yourself and if so how easy or difficult was it ? Thanks.
  7. Interesting re tyres. . I’m on 18” wheels with Bridgestone Potenzas which are very road surface noise variable, very quiet some roads , loud on certain rough grippy surfaces ( we call the stuff winter grip tarmac, get a fair bit of that road surface Aberdeenshire). what size wheels are you running ?
  8. Beyond my knowledge but generally better changed before failure
  9. Oct 2020 Superb 2.0TSI. Estate 23,000 miles having recently bought this second hand , I was dismayed to find a paper copy of the vehicle’s last service with a note about the front near side shock absorber starting to leak , and noted “check in 6 months “ . Clearly still under warranty , I’d be interested to hear thoughts about the chances of a replacement under warranty . Thanks yes,mid imagine it depends how bad it is now, but thoughts welcome
  10. It should go back up once you drive off but if it doesn't it looks like a trip to the garage unless you're a good DIY person and know how to get inside the door to check all connections
  11. Ye. I agree , it goes back up once you start driving forward
  12. Sorry if I clicked something and ended up in another users post or quote - new user ignorance , sorry
  13. I got an estate SE-L , lovely leather seats . 19s . Surprisingly economical yet great for overtaking . No problems so far . Just watch if it's got power opening hatch as it's easy to be impatient and bang your head
  14. Just found the more detailed instructions, sorry , ooops
  15. Reversing : passenger side mirror doesn’t automatically lower when reversing ( 2020 Superb estate 2.0 tsi petrol SE L ) Car electronic screen options suggest I should have that function) and it seems switched on ) thanks , otherwise enjoying the car
  16. Good luck phoning your insurance company , I reckon they'll say if Skoda says it's ok, then it's ok. Indeed , most will say any deviation from the manufacturers spec is unacceptable . Mind you my cynical view is from 40 + yrs in insurance employment.
  17. Haha , no but it sounds like you've had fun .
  18. Possibly , though I've looked at the bonnet position .v.wioers when open and it doesn't look like they'd foul on the Yeti though they might on other VW / seat/ Skid models using common catches etc
  19. The Answer :. Indeed the sensor at the bonnet catch had failed . Replaced today , all working as normal . Washing and wiping to my heart's content, whether stationery or moving . Strikes me as a totally pointless sensor , driving 48;years and never had a bonnet fly up or elude the catch Thanks to all that responded
  20. Thanks ! I'll give it a go . And let you know
  21. Yeah , that's what I did have , but it's gone . I'll post final resolution .
  22. When stationary , with engine on and running , the front windscreen wipers will not work on any setting , irrespective of choosing any fixed speed or variable speed setting, or one flick even. They're not auto wipers on this model. Also when not moving but engine running, front washers won't operate. But , the rear works . When you move off front wipers and jets work. Sounds related to what some suggest , a bonnet sensor or sorts. Had car years , thus is new. It's now booked in, and I'll post resolution due course
  23. I don't have auto wipers so cannot do the hose test . No lights warning. Wipers do work when moving. It's not really a wiper sweep interval that's the issue, it's no wipe or ' jets' to the front unless in motion. I had the car for near 4 years and most definitely have I used the washers and wipers when the car is stationery in the past . Have often had to start car and use wipers and washers to shift leaves, fine sand (blown off sea) or bird poo. And of course in our lovely Scottish winters , to shift snow after starting and before driving off . It's a Yeti 1.2 TSi Outdoor SE . I'll post final garage outcome. Suspect there's a link to the bonnet position sensor but we'll see.
  24. You're probably right. Trip to garage , I'll post outcome
