changing battery
I had a local chap do it with his device, took a while sorting through and checking then re-checking but all done and now seems fine. I think at the moment everything is working fine. Thanks all for info, tips, advice and general interest, very helpful and reassuring. Not so sure I trust the Skoda franchises to give such useful and pertinent honest advise - but then I just a cinical curmudgeon!

changing battery
I have just replaced my battery as close to 'like-for-like' as I could get and it still shows the engine light illuminated as the battery management thingy needs to be updated. Initially every light and 'Bong' was going but once I'd switched it on and off a couple of times things settled down with just the one light showing. I think (BUT I DON'T KNOW) it can be done with a VCDS. But I honestly have no idea, someone is sorting it out for me. The battery was an 'EFB' for 'EFB' if I'd have bought a 'AGM' battery it would deffinately need to be coded apparently. Acyually not sure if this is helpful.......

Crikey 😳😳 Good point - how do I do that 😐🫤🫤😕

Start/stop system not kicking in
Sooo……. The short story is; no matter what the CTEK showed indicator light 4 or 5 - it stuck there whichever ‘mode’ it was in. I cycled through the modes and tried normal car charge. After 24 hrs no change. Measured the voltage across the battery and all it could muster was 9 volts. So I’ve declared it ‘dead’ !! My question now - and just to confirm - if I buy a like-for-like EFB battery will I need to code the car (or whatever it is I have to do with an AGM Battery) ???

Cheers, good bit of advice and worth remembering. Thanks.👍🏻

Start/stop system not kicking in
Hi, Thanks again. Yep, all hooked up as described and illustarted in the manual - Positive on the battery and negative on the cars 'earth point' which I scrubbed-up clean beforehand. As you say the CTEK might just be doing its thing. It's coming up to 30 something hours since attaching it. I don't think the battery would have had any charge other than when it's running so maybe it needs it or it's to 'tired' to go on ! I'll wait to see if the display ligths change anytime soon. I've borrowed this charger but will be getting a 'normal one' for future battery health as described 👍🏻

Start/stop system not kicking in
Update: Heres a thing, battery charger shows its charging the battery 'CTEK' "recond mode" now showing light No.6. Its been hooked up two days now. I went to unlock the car today and the indicator lights on the wing mirrors flashed - not the indicators - but the wing mirrors didn't unfold. I check the charger - results as above - and then pressed the remote to lock the car. Once again the wing mirror lights flashed but nothing else. The car doesn't lock. So is there a fault with the battery or an electrical fault elsewhere? I tried the boot opening button with the remote, it clicked and unlocked but didn't open. Which uggests to me that there is no power in the electrics. I'm happy to go buy a new battery but don't want to waste money if thats not tyhe problem. What would be the next step?? Getting the electrics/battery/system checked? I'm not happy with the Skoda garage I took it to last week fro a service and MOT so would a decent local garage be able to sort this kind of issue? Really not sure why it's all gone to rat sh!t this week .

Thank you, new to Skoda and new to forums so appreciate your responce. I've borrowed a 'CTEK' charger and I'm happy to leave as long as it needs - so fingers crossed it should get 100% charge (If it is still capable!). Or should I try the "Reond" setting? 🤷♂️ I shall sit and read the attachment - thank you - with a cuppa. What's really frustrating is that it's just had a (50K)Oil/pollen service & MOT!!! Not so sure they checked the battery. I think - according to the Skoda website - battery check should have been done. Anyway not at all happy, but given that it's 6 years old and I haven't treated it 'correctly' I may just have to bite the bullet and buy new - and start a proper regular charge regime !!!! Fingers crossed. I may even update later if all goes well. 🤞🏻 Cheers nta16 👍🏻

Start/stop system not kicking in
Wow 😮 this gets very technical. I started searching about battery problems and found this. It appears my battery is flat. Should I remove it from the car to charge it? Or at least remove all connections and charge it or is there some sort of ‘re-set’ I’d have to do? Is it possible to whip one out and drop a new one in?? If so any experienced advice on which one? 2020 superb est sportline plus (TSI S-A) 190PS. Is an ‘AGM’ worth the extra money for stop start feature? Thanks

Crawley Down Skoda - Copthorne..
Yeah, shoddy to say the least. What compounded it for me was the next day, trying to put the navigation updates in and the display shows ‘battery low’ !!!! Despite driving it for an hour it was dead flat the next morning. I have written (email) asking for an explanation but yet to hear. I had all this dealership stuff (lies etc) with Harwoods landrover Crawley years ago! Thought skoda would be better. Very dissatisfied. Waiting for the “How did we do email” ……….

Crawley Down Skoda - Copthorne..
Wow, nothing written for a while here. I'm not sure I'd recommend this plce either, took my superb sportline etsate there for a oil/pollen service and MOT - heard nothing all day only that the rear tyres were showing cord on the inside so it failed the MOT !! I thought they were suposed to do a visual inspection as part of the service. Does anyone know where I might find a comprehensive list of what is involved which each service? The Soda site quotes video inspections and all sorts. When I did get it back it looked like it had been 'cleaned' with a quick rub from a wet rag, insides were vacuumed but still had mud on the lower door trim from clumbsey feet exiting! I'm not sure they're doing all they could for my money.

What does WLAN do?
Been searching this site and others for ages. I have 2020 Superb with SIM Slot. I inserted ‘data only SIM card’ and managed to connect my phone (iPhone 14) to “Skoda_WLAN_1219” and was able to access the internet, this showed up in my WiFi settings and others in the car could connect their phones to this ‘WiFi’. I did not need to have Bluetooth or a cable attached. But recently it has stopped working. The SIM has plenty of data available and 4G/5G give good signals here. However after initially connecting my phone it now says ‘no internet connection’ in red under the skoda_WLAN_1219. Have I changed a setting accidentally? Can I reset anything to make it work? Does anyone have an idea why this might have happened. ? It’s driving me nuts !!!!!

Could you use a very soft clay bar? I’m not sure myself, maybe try posting/asking on the detailing forum?
