  1. Yeah I don't get it either. Start/stop has never been an issue, you get used to it just like everything else and adapt your driving style. And if you drive an automatic the car starts up before your foot reaches the accelerator... Saves fuel too.
  2. Some people reported that with the newest software update it finally does save some stuff. But start-stop is never going to save without external coding. It's for emissions.
  3. Pretty sure the new one is bigger?
  4. Engines do need a run in period. Looking at 0-100 times it's not slower, so maybe that is it.
  5. Even if they did support higher voltages which is unlikely, they would be power limited. A 12V socket usually has a 10A fuse for stuff you plug into it, USB-C spec allows 3A maximum. I would expect Škoda to be using traditional and reliable 5V ~2A ports.
  6. How can any USB put out 2 volts when the spec is 5 volts?
  7. It has usb ports and why wouldn't you want android auto?
  8. It's too far away to even ask, I'm going to wait a few months before asking, if they don't call me first.
  9. Interesting, so colours of MY21 won't be made anymore? Because mine is in Quartz Grey and that also isn't an option on MY22 cars. And my car isn't being built either as far as I know.
  10. Actually it's a perfectly reasonable answer when you don't actually know. The supply chain has many pieces that are all broken in all kinds of ways. You can blame Škoda for this, but every manufacturer is struggling the same.
  11. You have the answer, there is a massive parts shortage and they don't have a clue when what will be delivered.
  12. The cost depends on the output doesn't it? A big factory is obviously going to cost billions and if you want to build it fast you can expect to double that, that's exactly why the shortage isn't going to end any time soon. Wiki has a decent list of foundries available https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_semiconductor_fabrication_plants
  13. Car chips are usually built on older manufacturing process so they're cheaper and can be built quicker. Still takes years, like any factory.
  14. Rear pads wear out faster every time on our Renault Laguna's 2 and 3, because the pads are way smaller. Obviously they don't do more braking.
  15. Actually it is a similar shortage. So many chips are being manufactured on 7nm that they can't produce enough graphics cards AND there are miners buying out everything too, it's a multi-layered problem.
  16. There we go, they might have issues with some models too.
  17. It's not actually madness it's the world we live in. Only Kia/Hyundai/Toyota were prepared for something like this, everyone else is struggling.
  18. Lane assist and travel assist are different things, lane assist doesn't allow you to take your hands of the wheel because it doesn't keep in the middle of the lane, it will only try to catch you when you're crossing the line. ACC is separate too.
  19. My parents ordered a Tiguan and they had a 4 month delivery in the contract, dealer said to expect 3. So it looks like a Škoda/Octavia thing.
  20. I think the theory was that certain countries/dealerships have set amounts of cars they can order and if they go over the waiting time increases.
  21. I ordered RS combi in the first days of May and my manufacturing date is set to the last week of September according to the dealer. But I'm from Lithuania so a different region, might be different times.
  22. I think it has a lot to do with all industries, but especially cars, everyone is maximizing profits by making one type of product in different wrappers, all Toyota's have the same electronics, same with Hyundai/Kia, VW did too in every car from Polo to Passat. With Golf mk8 and the MQB Evo platform VAG switched to entirely new electronics that are supposed to be working with fossil cars, hybrids and even current EV's which is a huge leap and they clearly underestimated the time it would take to fix all the problems, felt pushed by declining sales and decided to release it half baked to maintain relevancy in the market. All that said their cars are still amazing value if you believe they can be fixed for the most part.
  23. Lane assist does exist on Bolero, I meant travel assist (self-driving), that requires Columbus, at least here. Confused the titles.
  24. afaik the new VAG ECU needs a connection to the servers to allow modifications, so it will never be as easy as it was for a simple tune. Even if a tune becomes available it will probably require you to mod something more and it will be more expensive too.
  25. Laura works with both, Bolero doesn't have maps, also if you get Bolero you miss out on lane keep assistant (self-driving stuff) and sign recognition.
