  1. What's realy annoying is the fact that this car was actually put on the market ,I thought they had to pass exhaustive testing regimes.I also am annoyed by the dealerships who although caught in the middle of this are all but useless in helping customers .Unless you kick off as I did they won't help and keep stating the political line " we are waiting for an update ".I understand that there are similar issues with other VW based models.
  2. Well it's too late for me I just didn't feel safe driving my Octavia.I hope this fix is the panacea for all the issues but I feel Skoda owe all the owners with cars that had issues some sort of compensation for selling them a vehicle that should have never been put on the road with the plethora of faults it had and were very reluctant to take responsibility or ever apologised .
  3. Having swapped my Octavia and gone back to a Superb I just wondered if they have sorted out all the software issues reported on this site ? I must say it's nice to drive the Suoerb without the fear of it braking randomly, mph instead of Kph, no more the car reading the speed limits and converting g them to Kph?
  4. I thought I read somewhere that its the whole infotainment system that needs replacing
  5. Go for a Superb mate
  6. Kick off big style mate ,I did and got mine sorted .They sold you the car so your contract is with them not Skoda .Good luck let us know hiw you go on.You can quote my case if you want My dealership was DM Keith in Wakefield .
  7. https://forms.dvsa.gov.uk/Vsdr/create Please use this form to complain about your car
  8. I know I'm sorted by exchanging my Octavia but is it about time there was legal action against Vw/Skoda group but who can you talk to? Maybe the motoring columnist in tje Mail ?
  9. My final call with Kate was to inform her that my local dealer had offered to exchange my Octavia for a Superb, but she said they had trialed a solution and there would be a decision about three weeks ago ,I wonder if its gone tits up or is too expensive to solve.Good luck folks but I would be planning Plan B which would be take my car back to the dealership where I bought it and sit outside making a noise about the problems with the car ,specifically on a Sat afternoon.Talking to a salesman at the dealership the issues are well known at Skoda ,maybe another route is to contact motoring journalist .
  10. Maybe the best route to get some action would be to contact Honest John for advice.
  11. Maybe the best route to get some action would be to contact Honest John for advice.
  12. The Superb is as it says on the boot lid, Superb but the Octavia First Edition should come with a health warning .
  13. I presume you have contacted Kate at Skoda UK although my local dealership were proactive in my exchange .Can you see the top banana at the dealership where you bought the car and kick off In the showroom.
  14. Well im pleased to say 8m the proud owner of a Skoda Superb Technology .Skoda in Wakefield approached me and asked if I would like to "get out of the Octavia " at no cost to me.I jumped at the chance to get rid of the nightmare car. There was a small payment to make but Skoda UK made a pleasant contribution. All I can say to you guys is kick up a fuss and get stuck in and you will get it sorted.
  15. Have you got a link for honest john?
  16. as I posted earlier I have had enough and reverted back to a Superb ,same year and spec at no extra cost to me as I have waited long enough for a solution.
  17. Well mines eventually gone back to the dealership for a fullnrefund so I've done a swap back to the reliable Superb 70 plate.
  18. Well guys what a pleasant surprise today when my local Skoda dealership contacted me and offered me the full value of my car purchase against a new Superb, I snatched their hand off as my previous car was a Superb and was a great motor .Keep complaining and you'll get the reward
  19. Kate promised to call me Monday with an update on the trials, no phone call. Called her yesterday , "ill call you back this afternoon when I've spoken to Skoda"....no phone call .Has there been an issue ? Well after so many months of waiting I guess I can wait a little longer .
  20. I'm getting giddy guys after Skida UK called me today to inform me that several Octavia owners are testing the new software ,well they've replaced the infotainment system with a new piece of hardware .All the issues revolve around the cruise control software ,so I'm told and they will call me next week to update me on the success of the trial .If it goes to plan they will instruct dealerships to order the new units and call you in for a refit of the system.
  21. Today I asked my local dealer to help me understand why my octavia started continuously beeping for no reason ,even when the ignition was off and the car was locked ......the answer was absolutely rubbish, where is it bleeping from ....Well its from the car ! Ah we don't know why ? I'm really getting ****ed off with both Skoda UK and my local dealer and the only loser is me .Where do we go from here ?
  22. Looks like Skoda now have a problem with the Kushaq and the EPC unit which results in the car stalling whilst moving ......hope this issue doesn't override our Octavia problems .
  23. Jumped in the first edition yesterday and it started beep, beep beep continuously. Turned the engine off ,got out the car and locked and but still the beeping continued.Checked out the xar status ,no issues or reports .After 10 mins I decided to just lock it and leave it at home and borrow the wife's car.Had one final try and opened the cat and the beeping stopped, anybody have any ideas what caused this problem or is another one to add to the list at the dealership. BYW all other seats were empty .
  24. My dealership denies there is even any problems with the Octavia so I asked them why there wasn't any in the showroom? Answer was inconclusive, even though Skoda UK admitted there were some issues. it's about time all these issues were sorted and it's the last Skoda I will own ...I'm going back to Ford's .
