  1. Oh harrumph. I forget to check. Questions though: If handbrake on but car in drive does this a. Cause any wear or mechanical harm and b. Does the handbrake release automatically when accelerator pressed? I think you will be getting used to the fact that I'm new to all these aids.
  2. Oh. I don't know! I shall check tonight.
  3. The B mode seems to peter out at about 5-10 mph requiring the foot brake for a complete stop. I've become quite a fan of the auto hold function. Saves blinding the following car at traffic lights. And being able to switch it off when easing into tight spaces is very helpful.
  4. With the gear lever in drive, tap it to the rear for B then again to reinstate D.
  5. So it looks like it might be wise, every now and then, to put the drive in D and give it a few good, hard brakings (assuming I haven't got Johnny Boyracer 6 inches away from the rear bumper).
  6. So would I be right in thinking that allowing the car to slow in B mode prevents brake pad wear because the brakes are only applied at very low speeds? For example if slowing from 60 to 40 for a bend B mode will use motor braking only, the discs coming in only if I need to apply the brake pedal for extra braking effect? I've been driving for nearly 50 years and it's taking me a while to adapt to almost one pedal driving!
  7. I know that D gives no regenerative braking whereas selecting B does. However, when the car is slowing in B, the braking effect being obvious, are the brakes applied or is the deceleration governed by the regenerative process?
  8. That would make sense. But, whatever the reason, it's unreliable.
  9. The MySkoda app - sometimes it works, sometimes not. I use the remote charging feature. Sometimes it works, sometimes not. It just seems to be a poorly conceived and executed piece of IT.
  10. That was me I think. It referred to an Audi A6 Avant collected a short while ago by a neighbour. I got all 3 keys with the iV on Monday.
  11. Didn't think I'd see it on the drive this year but arrived yesterday:
  12. Picked up the new iV from Gt Yarmouth today so enjoyed the 90 mile journey home. Proper printed handbook. Woo hoo. 3 keys. Now charging from the 3 pin socket in the garage. However, isn't it complicated? The ST I sold : jump in, hit the starter and blast off. In the iV? Still not used to the screen, no engine noise. Nice car, though and excellent service from the dealership.
  13. Bit of an update: V5 now arrived, car reg 30 sep. Going to dealers tomorrow to collect. ST sold back to Ford dealer yesterday for £16.2 as they agreed 3 weeks ago. Ford having similar issues with incomplete builds. Salesman has new Audi which was delivered last week but only one key - to save on microchips. 2nd key to arrive later. Will let you know if the Superb estate iV comes complete!
  14. Ooof. That's a long trip to a main dealer! We used to live in Elgin so sympathise with the distances involved in living in a wonderful part of the world. Hope you get sorted out.
  15. In UK Superb estate SEL iv (met paint and reversing camera only extras) ordered 5 May. Arrived in UK a couple of weeks ago and at the dealer last Friday. Paperwork all done online and car registered today. In fact the V5 arrived in this morning's post. Collection 11 Oct (Mon week) because that's the earliest I can get there. As an aside, I was offered £12.5k for my trade in which was a very fair valuation at the time. However, used car prices have gone a bit silly and the dealer I originally bought the car from (Focus ST Estate, 66 plate, 38k miles) is giving me £16.2 for it. I have no idea why my car has come through so quickly compared the others who have been waiting longer.
  16. I have a travall guard in my focus estate and find it excellent. So much so that I have a new one sitting ready to fit to my new Superb estate which I collect next week. The advantage, to me anyway, is being able to easily remove and refit the guard if I need to carry a large item with the seats down.
  17. Of course, the main use of hazard warning lights is to permit parking in prohibited areas. At least it seems that way judging by the number of times its done.
  18. Agree with the above. £12.5 k offered for mine back at the start of May which was a reasonable offer at the time. New car being picked up 11 Oct so shopped around for a better price for mine. Best was £16.2 k from the Ford dealer I bought the car from. Skoda dealer couldn't match so ST going to the Ford dealer. Good used cars are making excellent money and dealers seem desperate for stock.
  19. My Superb estate iV has now arrived in UK. Will be registered this month although I will be away and unable to collect until 11 Oct. Ordered early may for week 23 build and delivery in July. So about 2 months later than first stated. I'm fine with that - get a 71 plate!
  20. Just been informed my Superb iV has completed production (ordered start May, original delivery estimate July) and will be about 4 weeks until ready for collection. Are they prioritising evs and phevs?
  21. I'm getting a phone call every 2 weeks from the dealer. Although there's no real updates it's reassuring that they haven't forgotten me.
  22. Mine too. The dealer explained that stage 8 is the vehicle complete and ready for shipping but lack of a critical component has stalled the build at stage 7. Ordered early may, scheduled for late July delivery, now? - who knows?
  23. Ordered Superb Estate SE L iV on 5 May, given build week 23 (7 June). Now at build stage 7 of 8. Got call yesterday to say that car is incomplete because of a "missing vital component". Initial delivery to be mid-July will not be before mid-August and likely to be later than that.
  24. OK. 2 Questions: 1. What does "a tethered one" comprise. 2. I will charge in the garage, the cable won't be outside. Good tips, though.
  25. Thanks for that. It's curiously difficult, if not impossible, to get that information from Skoda. Seems a simple question but neither the dealership nor Skoda UK could give me an answer.
