Scala SE 110 DSG Day 1 Review
We swapped from a 2018 Fabia Monte Carlo DSG to a 2020 Scala SE DSG. Obviously the Scala is very familiar but this aside we are generally happy. We needed a bigger boot and more rear leg room to accommodate child seats but at the same not something too big that is a pain to park. I agree with some of the comments regarding the DSG up shifting too early but this will have been optimised for the cycle to obtain the best figures. It's not terrible and can be overcome by pressing into the pedal a bit more to push out the shift point (shift points are primary based on accelerator pedal angle). The company I work for has a colleague car scheme and two close friends of mine have had Scalas (they get exchanged every 6 months). Their feedback was very positive to the point they were urging me to get one. We all drive a variety of cars and the Scala does stand out in its class. We all work in the automotive industry so we are a bit more critical than most. My car has been back to the dealer a few times, once for a sticking seatbelt and other times for an SOS ECU replacement and various software updates to rectify problems with the MMI. For me it's not a big problem as the dealer is less than 10 minutes away and I can run home, but if I lived far away then this would have been a real inconvenience. I probably won't be taking out a service plan as there is a very good VW specialist I use and I've had a few insights into what happens in some main dealer workshops! The specialist uses genuine VW group parts to maintain the warranty and fills in the digital service book. They are also a lot cheaper so if there is a reduction in the value of the vehicle due it not having a "main dealer service history" then this will be offset my the money saved in servicing. I will also have the peace of mind that the car has been serviced correctly. If you have any questions let me know.

Engine Stop/Start Behaving Dangerously
Yeah its super risky stuff!

Engine Stop/Start Behaving Dangerously
I've installed one of these Start-stop harness as I have the DSG and find the intervention of start-stop too intrusive. I would definitely recommend it.

'SOS Emergency call restricted Workshop' What's it mean and is there a fix?
I had my control module replaced but the solution will depend on exactly what the problem is, do you have the ability to read the fault codes? I included the full details at the end of this thread: Brand new Scala SOS emergency call fault

Engine Stop/Start Behaving Dangerously
Have you tried turning off start stop to see whether the problem is with this function?

Infotainment screen rebooting and Freezing
I was told my problem was connected to the ecall failure I had (see post ). I'm hoping it's now fixed following a new ecall ECU and software update.

Brand new Scala SOS emergency call fault
Hi, I just though I'd update you. The MMI started going off together with the E-call warning so I took it to the dealer. This time they diagnosed a faulty control module. The ECU details (0x75) are now: SW-part number: 5WA035282 HW-part number: 5WA035282 SW version: 0092 BL-version: 0012 HW-version: H14 Hopefully this has fixed the problem!

Scala Row 1 Seat Issue (Manual Seats)
I know this is an old thread but what happened, did the new seat fix the problem? I also have a Scala where the seat gradually reclines over time, unfortunately it is 18 months old so I can't play the reject the car card (I'm not sure I'd be comfortable doing that anyway)!

Adding courtesy lights to the doors
I noticed that the Scala has no courtesy lights on the doors but there are recesses which look like they could accommodate lights, has anyone done this?

New Scala option question - is Blind Spot monitor a good choice?
Crikey!

New Scala option question - is Blind Spot monitor a good choice?
I would have loved this option, I wonder if it can be retro fitted...

Software Updates
How do you know it's updating/updated? Is it only limited to small infotainment system updates?
-
Scala,front tyre wear.
My Scala was supplied with Michelin and they are wearing well (i.e. not too fast). As above, I believe the Scala only has a passive the tyre pressure monitoring system in that it only alerts you to a loss of pressure compared to the other wheels. The system works by monitoring and comparing the number of rotations of each wheel. If a tyre starts to deflate then the rolling circumference reduces and hence there is a deviation in the rotation count compared with the other wheels. If all tyres gradually loose pressure together the system is quite blind. The system is not actively measuring tyre pressures.

Online website for obtaining scala part number?
That's perfect, thanks. They had just what I was looking for.

DSG remap?
I'm not sure I'd let anyone other than the manufacture alter things like clutch pressure or anything concerning synchronisation, unless you want a hefty bill later on down the line! I've been looking into changing the shift points on my Scala but I've not found any consistent information about reading the DQ200 or obtaining original bin files. If anyone could point me in the direction, I'd be very happy to share any work I do with the group. For me I would like to raise the low pedal drive and coast upshifts in Drive and raise the braking downshifts in Sport and maybe a few tweaks here and there (i.e prevent start-stop)!
