  1. Hi @greetham, I was wondering if you have had time to renew the panel. If you have, did it solve the problem?
  2. @greetham did you come to this conclusion after changing the panel, or did you figure it out because the other possible parts were working fine? The reason I am asking is that if you changed the panel and it finally started working properly, I will rush to order one too 😃
  3. Thanks a lot @pikpilot for your message 🙏
  4. Hi, I have exact the same problem. I took it to a few garages but could not make any progress. I am looking forward to any helpful responses especially the winter is coming 😞
  5. Hi, I will order the following: https://www.erisin.co.uk/products/erisin-es8526s-android-13-dab-car-stereo-gps-radio-for-octavia-yeti-rapid-roomster-superb-8-ips-bt-50-carplay-android-auto-wifi-dvr-8-core-4gb64gb I drive a 2010 L&K Octavia. Does anyone know if I will start receiving DAB radios automatically once the device is plugged-in or does it require an additional "antenna" to receive them so I order it too? TIA!
  6. @pikpilot Thank you for your answer. Do you mean coolant temperature sensor?
  7. Hi. In my car it is blowing cool (not AC cold) until 25 degrees and then hot hot on 25 degrees and above. Has anyone come across similar before? Would you suggest what type of mechanic I should take the car to? TIA!
  8. Hi. I have been looking for the reason of the humming noise appeared in my car a couple of days ago and I found this thread. Thanks to your posts I am now convinced that it is the wheel bearings. BUT I have a question if you can please help, how will I understand which one(s) of the 4 wheels should I get replaced? TIA!
  9. Hi everyone! I need to pick your brains please 🙂 I took my car to a garage for annual service. The guy told me that my thermostat housing is leaking. I had noticed coolant getting low so I think it makes sense. I was told that I should leave the car for two days for this to be replaced. What I would like to ask you is that since the car will stay in the garage for two days and I assume that they will open some deep parts under the bonnet which normally wouldn't be touched, would you recommend me to get anything else checked and/or changed? To give an example, based on service history that I could reach, no water pump or similar part ever been changed. The car is 2010 and it is at 76K. Any suggestions? Any comments on housing leaking is also welcome 😉 The mechanic is a nice guy but prefers to keep his nose clean, not guides me at all. TIA!
  10. @roottootforgot to mention in my previous message, the oil used is CASTROL EDGE 5W30 LL.
  11. @roottootthank you for the manual. I checked the oil on a flat surface in the morning. Please correct me If I am wrong, do you suggest me to check it once the engine reaches 80+ degrees temperature? By the way, yeah, It was yellow warning light. The light was gone after I closed the bonnet. It is probably because, as you wrote above, I opened the bonnet. we will see in 60 miles! @TheClient thank you for your answer. I took the car to a VAG specialist yesterday. He said there is no visible leak anywhere. He mentioned that there is a sensor(meter) looking after the oil level and in my car, it was covered with grease so he cleaned it as the first thing. Also 1 litre oil has been topped up. We will see how it goes. Fingers crossed!
  12. Hi. I drive a 2010 1.8 TSI Octavia. I bought it recently. 300 miles less on the clock, a month ago, it lit up Check Oil Level so I got the oil changed, just in case. It now lit it up again! So I checked the stick this morning. The car was on a flat surface. I checked it twice and it showed that there is oil around B level each time. I read the 1.8TSI and 2.0TSI engine failures topic already and booked an appointment with the garage for Monday however also would like to ask your opinion how it sounds that the stick shows there is oil up to B level but the warning still comes up. Thanks!
  13. So the car in question had two owners so far. I managed to talk to the latter. A very nice and helpful guy. He said he owned the car until a month ago. He bought it when it was on 15000 miles in 2015. The car has since been serviced at the same garage (VAG Group Specialists) every year, the stamps are there as you know. He told me that it is a very well looked after car so I wouldn't hesitate to go for it. When I asked about DSG whether he has had any issues, he said that when he first got it (2015 / 15K miles) it did do a 'shudder' at low revs in 1st/2nd. The garage replaced a part in it which helped this. He thinks though it does still do it but he thinks it's a lot better or he got used to it. Given that, if I would like to get it checked, what type of garage I should look for? Any suggestions is much appreciated.
  14. Thank you for sharing however I cannot afford it unfortunately.
  15. Just an update. I spoke to a Skoda retailer and they said that the reason for the reg number to show up on the system should be because the car was used with a private reg before. It makes sense...
  16. I spoke to Skoda UK Customer Services. They confirmed that the gear oil was changed back in 2014. However when they wanted to search for the car via the reg number, they could not find the car. They then could find the car via the chassis number. Should I get suspicious that the car did not show up via the reg number? I asked the lady on the phone to tell me what reg number shows up on her screen. She said she cannot do that and I have to contact a Skoda retailer for this/more information. I then asked them for the details of the full service history. She said that the was serviced only the first two years in their network. So it looks like it was then serviced in independent Skoda garages. Any ideas? Should I get suspicious that the car did not show up via the reg number? Thanks.
  17. Fair enough. I was just trying to avoid pasting a very long link on the page for you and others' convenience. BTW the link works 😉
  18. I will go and check the well tomorrow. It will be easy because the car doesn't have any spare tyre so the well is empty. Let's see. I really liked the car. Hope no bad surprise comes up and ruins the joy.
  19. Thank you for your replies. I have test driven the car an hour ago and it looks really in a very good condition. I also took a mechanic with me (ex Audi and Porsche worker). He checked the chassis, this and that and then connected the car to the machine for any permanent error codes. He then also confirmed that the car is in a very good condition. Thanks to you that you brought up TSI engine issues and dry clutch DSG issues. 1) How can I learn if the engine was touched for a fix? 2) How can I confirm that change from change from Synthetic Oil to Mineral & Software Update was already done? Any suggestions is much appreciated.
  20. Hi. This is my first message and I hope there will be many more if it all goes well with buying the car in the following link: https://bit.ly/3mP5XSG Can I please ask you to check the link and share your thoughts? I have a really tight budget also a must for an automatic/petrol combination so I am really interested in this car. Many thanks in advance for your time!
