  1. I wondered the same too - while I can’t check the 90-degree turn, at the very least, if I torque the manual ratchet back to 25 Nm, I can go round the bolts to make sure they’re at least matching that torque value. I’ll give it a go next weekend when the weather is hopefully a bit better. That said, I’d like to think I’d know by now if anything were amiss after such a long trip today. Fingers crossed! 🤞
  2. Thanks Pete. I settled on the 25nm and 90 degree turn given, as you've pointed out, it did feel as though one or two bolts were slipping at the heads when I attempted any tighter of an angle which made me fearful of rounding. (Coincidentally I was aiming for 180 degree angle after torquing to 25nm). I did a 180 mile round trip today and didn't feel as though I noted any issues in driveability. Would it be worth rechecking the bolts at a later date for tightness? Or would you guys suggest to leaving it be? As I appreciate I could simply be overthinking. PS. I appreciate the link. As I had to resort to using a number of extender bars on my torque wrench for the drivers side inner CV joint. Kind regards,
  3. Thank you for the reassurance Alasdair. The flange bolts on my MK3 are M8 x 48. I did have initial confusion as some of the MK3 Fabia's are equipped with M10 bolts. I clarified with a Skoda dealer, who suggested that (for reasons unknown to me) the TDI engine has M8 whilst the TSI engine has M10. Kind regards,
  4. Thanks Thanks both for the responses. I had a nightmare replacing the driver side drive shaft afterwards as I was sent the wrong part. I also believe I found the incorrect torque spec as I snapped one bolt for the inner cv joint (ultimately ended up re using one old bolt). I've tightened the inner cv drive shaft bolts as best as I can in a crisis cross fashion, ultimately settling on maxing it out at 25nm plus a sturdy 90 degree turn afterward. I would've ideally liked higher nm and in hindsight would've used loctite for peace of mind, but the resistance I faced, coupled with the one bolt already snapped, had me thinking otherwise for any further nm, and loctite hadn't even occured to me. Fingers crossed this will hold without issue. 🤞As whilst the car is driving without issue now, it does play on my mind (likely paranoia more than anything). PS. No gearbox leakage as you guys stated. Thanks again!
  5. Hi all, Can anyone please give advice on the torque spec for the X6 bolts on the inner cv joint (drive shaft) that attaches to the transmission? For reference: 2015, Fabia MK3 Thank you!
  6. Hello all, I intend to replace the front drive shafts on my Fabia (MK3, 2015). Could I ask if anyone is aware of the filler hole location for topping up the gearbox oil afterwards? I want to pre empt any possibility of gearbox oil loss. That being said, would I be correct in assuming that replacing the inner and outter cv joint will not cause any gearbox oil leakage or loss? As my understanding is the inner cv joint bolts to a drive flange that comes out of the gearbox / diff. And so, you'd only lose oil if you remove the flange/stub shaft itself from the gearbox. For reference I've attached a picture of what is being replaced. Also, any other tips when replacing the drive shaft is greatly welcomed. Thank you.
  7. Oddly enough, since my last post: I've shuffled the AC compressor and alternator forward, in order to remove the belt tensioner, as I noticed that it had a hairline crack in the metal, where the plastic wheel sits on the tensioner itself! Fortunately a brand new tensioner is only £30 or thereabouts, but it's a nightmare that on the MK3 you got to shuffle the compressor and alternator forward to gain access. It took me ages. I will put up a step by step on this forum in the coming week, providing I get a moment, as I don't feel the process of replacing the tensioner is straightforward on these if I'm honest. And so I hope it will help others in the same predicament. PS. Tensioner Pulley part number is 04B903315 Thanks, Martin
  8. I answered my own question guys. I wrongly re routed the drive belt like an idiot. So those two part numbers I've referenced are interchageable. Please see my crude drawing below - hope this helps anyone stuck in a similar pickle in future! Regards,
  9. Hi all, Has anyone come into an issue when replacing the drive (serpentine) belt? I have a 2015 Fabia and the belt itself is 6pk1078 though everywhere is selling 6pk1080. I have tried using the latter today, and it's squealing terribly. Just wanted to get other people's thoughts on this predicament? As I wouldn't have thought 2mm would make such a difference.
  10. It's a quirk for the model. I'm approaching 70 thousand mileage, and it's still going strong and without issue. The noise is there but it's a waste of money to chase a "repair" that isn't causing any issue.
  11. Hello, I subsequently replaced my front brake calipers. However, I would caution this did little - the stopping power are not good on the Fabia MK3's and drove four other variations with the same results. I have subsequently switched to slotted / drilled brake rotors which have had better results. Not being as heavy footed and applying progressive brake effort as opposed to instant has also helped drastically. My car has never failed an MOT on brake related matters, so I wonder in hindsight if my complaint was having too high expectations. Kind regards,
  12. Hello all, I have the mirror link feature on my Fabia (2015) but, sadly, the headunit never recognises any of the various phones I've had over the years, in order to use any feature other than standard Bluetooth. I've had the car since 2021. Anyone else have this issue? And know of a fix? Thanks!
  13. Has anyone had any luck on here removing /replacing the steering rack, without dropping the subframe? FYI: Vehicle is a 2015 Mk3 Thanks!
  14. Hello, Can anyone point me in the direction of the steering rack preload adjustment screw/nut? Is it even an option on the MK3 Fabia's (2015)? I have a clunk in the rack and want to exhaust this option prior to considering replacing the rack itself. Thanks.
  15. Hi all, I've attached this video. Please accept my apologies for it not being better. The droning noise in the video is x10 in person and very irritating (a quite obvious "hnnnnn" noise) on initial startup of the engine from cold. That said, you can clearly heat it from inside the car but I wouldn't say it is to the extent you would hear it outside. YouCut_20250104_161818190.mp4
  16. Hello, Thank you for this reply. The only thing I would say to you in response is that the single flywheel was installed 3yrs or so ago. And the noises I'm hearing now are fairly recent. This is why I'm concerned with the noise. The car drives as per usual though. And it's only on initial startup and from cold (engine) that I hear these noises - once it's been ran for a bit, the noise ceases. It also does not make any noise when in Motion. It only makes the noise when moving off from 0mph.

  18. Yes that's correct. Doesn't do it when in Motion.
  19. Thanks for your input. I was suspecting a worn thrust bearing oddly enough. The issue I have is that it's intermittent and that the clutch is working A-okay and engaging gears as usual. It's whether or not to throw money at it or to monitor closely going forward.
  20. Hello, thanks for the reply. It happens only on startup, and when I lift my foot off the clutch to the biting point whilst in gear (the point where the car starts to move a few mph without revs). It is rather intermittent though and not noticeable from outside the vehicle itself. And as said, it doesn't do it in neutral or really in any other gears. Though, I have tested the waters by pulling off in 2nd and it's done the noise in the same fashion. Oddly enough, once driven a bit the noise isn't there at all (even on startup). I'll get a video uploaded when I have a moment.
  21. Hello, thanks for the reply. It's a 5 speed manual gearbox, with a solid flywheel conversion (dual mass flywheel was a common fault on these cars - hence why dealers do the conversion).
  22. Hi all, I've got a 2015 fabia mk3 with 67k on the clock. It had a new clutch and flywheel at 20k miles in 2021 due to a factory fault. However, I've noticed the following issue lately: Taking off in 1st gear, if I lift my foot off the clutch, at the midway/biting point I hear what's best described as a "whine" or deep pitched horn sound from the transmission area. It isn't always present. I've noticed once the car is warm and been driven a bit, the noise isn't there either. I also haven't noticed it present in all gears, though I took off in 2nd when the car was cold and heard the noise in that gear too. The noise isn't enough for someone to notice outside the car, but you can clearly hear it from the inside when it is present. The clutch itself feels smooth still and I've no issue changing gears. Would appreciate any advice on the issue though. The garage I took it to are hesitant to go changing parts as they feel they would simply be guessing at this point until the issue becomes more noticeable or permanent for that matter as it is currently intermittent. Thanks!
  23. Hi all, Is replacing the starter motor straightforward? As in, no 'programming' required? Appears easily accessible and a fairly priced part (new), and so I plan to replace mine as part of preventative maintenance as my Fabia is getting older. Thanks!
  24. I agree. Very poorly made. I already hear the 'crumbling noise in my front passenger regulatory. Fortunately I've not heard any squealing as of yet though!
