Unresponsive headunit - touch not working
Hi all, Jumped in the car this morning and the touch ain't working on my headunit... sound and selection is fine using buttons though. Any way to rectify this or reset the headunit? If worst case scenario it's broke can I swap with another Mk3 (2015, 1.4 tdi) headunit (and are the headunits interchangeable and a case of plug and play?)? Also I noticed I can scroll to the factory reset settings using the buttons but cannot select 'yes' or 'not which is annoying and defies the point of having buttons. Any help is appreciated cheers.

3rd gear whining within certain rpm range
Hi all, Left the car with gearbox specialist. They appear to feel its the gears "winding down" and feel they can notice it in all gears to varying degrees. They feel though it's not a bearing issue nor any issue at all and state it to be normal. They report the gears to be smooth and everything as to be expected. They advised me to continue with the car and not worry about it in the slightest. For them not to want to take my hard earned money I guess they're honest in their feedback.

3rd gear whining within certain rpm range
Hi guys, honestly was hoping I'd never be back here complaining about problems. 😂 So.... I have a 1.4 tdi, MK3, 2015, just under 30k on the clock. When driving in 3rd gear, I hear a whining at the 1500rpm range but only when my foot is off the accelerator. If I go higher into the rpm range this whine disappears. If I let my speed go down the whine will reduce until being non existent below 22mph. This whining ain't there in other gears... it's driving me up the wall. Car drives fine though and feels good. Am I just being picky or is this a worn bearing in the gearbox? Don't wanna be throwing money for the sakes of it if I'm just fixating on problems that aren't really problems. This noise is frustrating though and does play on my mind. What's everyone else's experiences? Would record the noise but engine and environmental noise would likely block it out tbh. PS. Clutch is newish so not clutch related.

Crush washer size? Doing oil/oil filter change..
Pretty much what you say. The top image is the design of the bolt on my vehicle. I dislike using two washers but it certainly has worked. So for reference it's the top bolt and the lower crush washer in the image you've attached. I let the engine run for 10 mins before doing the oil change and discovered the seepage. I've had a long drive since and checked the sump plug for seepage on two seperate occasions. It's definitely held up and done the job which is the main thing.

Crush washer size? Doing oil/oil filter change..
The existing washer is built into the nut and cannot be removed from above the bolt thread. Interestingly the bolt thread is bigger than the washer and that's why it cannot be removed. So I placed a copper crush washer over the washer that's built into the nut and it appears to have done the job. No more seepage! Just means the copper crush washer will undoubtedly need replacing each oil change but for a washer that costs pennies I am not complaining. I also never reuse washers given past experience anyhow. PS. I inspected the bolt and thread before hand; it's flawless.

Crush washer size? Doing oil/oil filter change..
I'll give a new washer a try. For me to call it even seepage is extreme. It definitely appears to be some build up however. Though it may be possible the previous owners or garage they used were careless to clean up after themselves and left residue. Or maybe they didn't bother leaving the oil drain properly and done the sump up with oil still dribbling out. The only reason I say this is because the oil filter had oil residue on it yet the seals all around it are bone dry (I inspected close up umpteen times). I've not changed a sump plug before. I'll inspect it but ideally like to keep the original. Fingers crossed a new washer will do the job. And I'll go from there.

I also found a copper crushable washer from Euro Carparts for less than £0.80, inner diameter 14mm and outer diameter 20mm. I did try to find 22mm outer diameter but I'm hoping 20mm should do the job. I've never been fussed on the flat style washers. I've always preferred the round crushable ones (like shown in this pic) that shape themselves with tightening.

Crush washer size? Doing oil/oil filter change..
I suspect ever so slight seepage and from experience sorting out the misses' car I'm assuming the washer has been reused instead of replaced by the previous owner.

Crush washer size? Doing oil/oil filter change..
Thank you for this I appreciate it. Just visually inspected and noticed as you say no copper crush washer. However there is an aluminium looking (shiny) flat surfaced thick ring around the sump plug, sat between the sump and pan. Is this what you meant? I find it odd there's no crush washer mind. I struggle to see how flat surfaced rings truly act as sealants.

Crush washer size? Doing oil/oil filter change..
Thanks buddy. Not done an oil change yet on the Fabia. So just a case of oil and filter change, reuse the old sump and whatever is attached?

Crush washer size? Doing oil/oil filter change..
Really? I assumed you'd need one to be on the safe side and prevent leakage?

Crush washer size? Doing oil/oil filter change..
Hi, does anyone know the crush washer size for the oil sump plug on the Fabia MK3? Intend to do an oil/oil filter change but replace the crush washer at the same time. Not comfortable reusing the washers.

Delayed ignition cycle... start motor issue?
Night time as in 7pm. Went to bed around 3am lol (night owl). Elderly naleighbours kept peeking in the window. Must've thought I was breaking into someone's car at that time.

Delayed ignition cycle... start motor issue?
The other thing that puzzles me though, if the starter solenoid, why would it be restricting itself to first thing in the morning after an overnight park? Throughout the day it's fine. I charged my battery last night and plugged it in the car before going to bed.. woke up and started the car today and the delay was 1 to 2 secs, just a fraction more than fairly instant. Huge improvement over the 5 to 10 secs I experienced the day before.

Delayed ignition cycle... start motor issue?
I thought the same but highly doubted the solenoid and ignition, purely given the age and low mileage of the car. It did cross my mind regarding the clutch switch, however the car is stop-start and I've had zero issues when out and about in traffic. That's for the battery, the battery is 6 years old (I've not had the car from new and only discovered this yesterday), that's why I'm questioning of the battery.

I also checked all relays and fuses in relation to the starter today... they look unblemished and in perfect condition.

Delayed ignition cycle... start motor issue?
I purchased the wrong battery today so will be taking it back in the morning. Read online that the AGM battery needs coding once fitted! Surely this ain't the case? Coding for a f***ing battery. I wouldn't know where to start. Do you have any advice on this? I put up a new thread not long ago regarding this. Thought I'd try a new battery but upon reading this tonight I'm so stressed and cannot get my head around it.

Replacing car battery
Has anyone with an MK3 fabia installed a new battery? If so, is it plug and play as per usual? I've read online regarding AGM batteries and the stop to start technology. My old battery has a BEM code. Would a new battery needing inputting or coding to the car? I've came across this all online and it's confused the heck out of me. Anyone with experience of replacing the battery on an MK3 1.4 tdi Fabia? Thanks.

Delayed ignition cycle... start motor issue?
Hi, but did you hear the car trying to kick over? My point is that during the delay I experience there's no noise at all, indicating to me it's likely to be starter related.

Delayed ignition cycle... start motor issue?
Another note I have, stop-start works perfectly on my car. It's just first thing in the morning I have this silenced delay, so I am at odds and confused with it.

Delayed ignition cycle... start motor issue?
Hi, I'm sure I tested the voltage a few months ago which was normal just out of routine and curiosity. Have a tester/charger in the boot so will double check today and also charge to be on the safe side! Would you recommend changing the ignition switch relay whilst I'm at it? (May be a tenner in Eurocarparts so won't hurt). Mats are factory provided and slotted in (rubber hard mats), so these won't be an issue.

Delayed ignition cycle... start motor issue?
I've not heard of a dodgy battery making zero attempts at some sort of engine kick over. It's dead silence during this delay so surely starter related if not anything else
-
Delayed ignition cycle... start motor issue?
Hi guys, Could it honestly be a battery issue though? Forgive me if I sound stupid, but I thought a dodgy battery would struggle to start but still attempt some sort of kick over? The delay is dead silent. Oddly enough as if you're turning the switch without the clutch pressed down. Does that make sense? However I do believe I press the clutch down fully. It is worth me taking on board and just double checking my foot is down all the way. But yeah, it's only happening first thing in mornings when the car is left overnight.

Delayed ignition cycle... start motor issue?
By did nothing I mean no sound of car trying to turn over, no nothing for a long period with the switch turned. All symbols on the dash illuminate instantly mind so I believe the battery to be in good health.

Delayed ignition cycle... start motor issue?
Hi everyone, First thing in the morning the car has developed a delayed start when cold. This morning I cycled the switch and held it in and it did nothing for 5-10 secs. Car is a 15 plate, less than 30k on the clock. Is this a starter motor issue? Or could it be some faulty relay? I looked in the fuse box but can't see any relays under the hood, just fuses. Also after my car has started and been ran for couple of minutes the ignition cycles without delay and without issue. Anyone have any advice? Does the car have a starter relay and would anyone know the location of this? Thanks.
