  1. I’m now on 1896 but my ACC still thinks I’m driving on the other side of the road. Is anyone else with 1896 still experiencing this problem?
  2. Interesting news re the fix, thanks for the update. Also good to know they've accepted there is a problem, hopefully this will now filter down to my dealer who seemed unaware of the issue (which given the number of complaints on Skoda, VW and Seat forums seems surprising). It's always nice to spend time in something a little less 'good' to appreciate the car better. I've also got the petrol vRS estate and, when I took it in before Christmas, they gave me a boggo Fabia. My vRS felt soooo good when I got back into it.
  3. @sneal - I blame Bill Gates. I'd be interested to know how the ACC decides which side of the road it thinks it's on. Is it something local in the car? Or is there data sent to it to say it's in a country that drives on the right? I had assumed it was GPS related given my experience in the Passat but that seamlessly knew when it was in either France or the UK and set the ACC accordingly.
  4. Does Newport have an underground moules and frites scene? Interesting that both our cars had ACC wobbles yesterday. It’s probably unlikely that there’s some central VAG server screwing with everyone’s ACC at the same time but mine was misbehaving at approx 5:30pm.
  5. I had my Mk4 vRS delivered in November '21 and have been lucky so far not to have experienced many of the problems flagged on this forum. The one that has affected me though is the ACC thinking it's driving on the other side of the road and braking when overtaking traffic. It's particularly frustrating because it's such an enjoyable car to drive otherwise. Before Christmas I took it into Garland Aldershot, they took a look and declared a) that they'd not seen the issue on any other cars and b) it was now fixed. Since then it's happened a number of times so it's definitely not resolved but something a bit odd happened today... Within 10 mins on a stretch of the M25 near where it meets the M23, the ACC went from working correctly, to thinking it was on the other side of the road, to working correctly again. I didn't change any settings, it did it all by itself. I don't know whether anyone else has seen this kind of behaviour but it's making me think it might be related to location services of some sort. I recently hired a new Passat for a trip to France and that automatically set the ACC to drive on the right - I assume this was done via GPS. Is it possible there's something similar on the Octavia but it's somehow getting confused and suddenly thinks Sussex = France? The next test would be to find location services in the menus somewhere and disable them to see whether that has any impact but I'm curious whether anyone has already tried this.
  6. Hi Bob, I emailed [email protected]. They weren't able to give me any more info about delivery times but they did help out with the hire car and they had a customer service rep assigned to the case who followed up and made sure it was all sorted to my satisfaction.
  7. I ordered my VRS TSi DSG back in Feburary. It was due to be built w/c 15th August but was then delayed with no information available re when it might actually be complete. Skoda live chat didn't know and the dealer had no further information but they've just confirmed the car is built and is on the way to the port for shipping to the UK. Bit of a surprise because I've been so used to no info being available but despite theories about diesel and iV being the priority, there's clearly hope for anyone who ordered the petrol engine. I'm now just praying that it doesn't turn up with the litany of tech issues that so many others have experienced. Also, as a side note, I complained to Skoda Customer Relations and they've been very helpful. That help included providing a hire car for a month for a family holiday so, although the wait has been frustrating, I wanted to share that positive experience.
  8. I ordered an Octavia vRS TSI DSG estate at the end of February and have had to chase Customer Services repeatedly to get any information about it. Apparently it went into production in August but they reckon it'll be another 8-10 weeks until production is completed due to the chip shortage. That said, apparently a Customer Services Manager is due to call me today (they told me that this morning and I've not heard anything yet) so not sure what news they're intending to pass on. Hopefully not a wait until next year!
