  1. I'm eagerly awaiting the delivery of the cable so I will update asap. Yes indeed, and I was impressed by the range of VCDS supported OS versions.. I think for this little netbook anything more than Windows XP would be a bit sluggish tho and not needed since i only need to run one program. Whilst clean installing XP it was also nice to reminisce about how this installer is only ~500mb and used to fit on a single CD! Windows 10 in comparison is ~5gb!
  2. Oh Windows XP how i've missed you. VCDS Lite ready and waiting for the cable to arrive. Hopefully we'll have an answer to this one by the end of the week.
  3. Ooo Nice, looks like a fun little mod, will give this a go ๐Ÿ‘Œ
  4. Yeah I did think, in general I can see why it's this way around. I'll have a look at this and get a photo of the fuses posted, I was hoping that there might be a simple solution like this tho.. shifting a fuse in to a different route or something.
  5. Nice thanks, I've ordered one of these ๐ŸŽ‰ Will have to wait till next week for it to arrive and try it out. That gives me the weekend to resurrect an old Windows laptop ๐Ÿ˜ฌ See you on the other side ๐Ÿ‘‹
  6. I'm very interested in this as I have an 07 mk2 that I want to do a small amount of coding on, I've not found any local garages willing to do this. Happy to help test this on my vehicle If i've understood correctly that it falls in to your test bracket. just direct me to suitably cheap cable + links to the software. That said, I'm a newbie here so I don't fully understand all the different coding protocols yet.
  7. We have a Fabia mk2 1.4 2007. We recently plugged in a basic 2 port Anker USB car charger for charging phones and the like. Also to enable some basic music playback via bluetooth we added a UGREEN Bluetooth aux adapter which uses one of the usb ports and plugs directly in to the audio aux next to it. This setup is working great, really pleased with it, the quibble I have is: The auxiliary power port seems to be always on. Im not hugely concerned about this from a power consumption point of view. Because the bluetooth adapter is always on it seems to have connection issues with our phones if we leave the car and come back to it. We often pull the usb adapter out and plug it back in to power cycle the bluetooth adapter which forces it to reconnect to our devices. The ideal scenario here would be that the auxiliary power port was linked to the ignition. To that end I return you to the original question in the title of this thread. Can I switch the auxiliary power port to only come on when there is ignition?
  8. Point of interest: I've been calling around garages for quotes on cambelt + waterpump change as it's overdue and slightly out of my toolkit to complete. I've been asking the same garages about making the small coding change to enable cruise.. they all seem to get a little flustered like it's not allowed? the last one said 'thats not something I've ever been asked to do before'. @mushtafa I think you're my closest VCDS owner, do you still posses the kit and do you need some beer money? ๐Ÿ˜† ๐Ÿ™
  9. Think I've traced where these can be connected at the ECU & Brake/Clutch pedal. B441 -> T52a/24 (52-pin connector, at engine control unit) B279 -> T4d/2 & T4h/2 (4-pin connector, at brake & clutch pedal switch) The B279 node is a little confusing tho, Would make sense if it's just a shared power rail? Maybe thats why it's "Positive connection 3 (15a) in main wiring harness" Are these nodes easy to find under the bonnet, or would it be easier to make the connections at the pin connectors i've traced?
  10. Thanks for all the pointers, this is really helpful ๐Ÿ™Œ I have found some more switches that look like the ticket for your approval: https://www.autopartspro.co.uk/valeo-9382437 I've only found a loom for a mk1 so far, if it's similar I may be able to mod it tho it might be simple enough to just make one anyway. Does that mean it needs to be spliced in to the loom? Do you have a link to any guides you know of or exact splicing locations? Any tips for where to look for looms to buy? Thanks again.
  11. Looks like there are a few connections i need from the 41-pin connector at the steering column switch to the main wiring harness: T41a/28 -> B279 (For Petrol Engines) (blue/red) T41a/26 -> B441 (white) T41a/29 -> B441 (white) Then there are three back to the 6-pin connector at the onboard supply control unit, one with a diode. T41a/27 -> T6y/2 (blue/white) T41a/30 -> T6y/6 (blue/yellow) T41a/31 (blue/green) -> J29 Diode -> T6y/5 (black/red) Questions: Is this the correct diagram for my vehicle? and am I reading it correctly? Where do the three connections heading for the main wiring harness (B279 & B441) connect to?, I can't see any pin designations. At T41a/31 the diagram doesn't indicate what diode I need but should I just assume anything that can handle 12v? @Tech1e having done this before, is this accurate? Anything I'm missing?
  12. Just found this info on Ross-Techโ€™s wiki specifically about retro fitting cruise control with the different control module versions and what features they support. Nothing we didnโ€™t already know but nice as a reference.

They are certainly likeable cars. Since we've had it, three other family members have been so impressed that they also bought mk2's of varying age and colour. When we all get together It's like rent a Skoda garage.
  14. Looks like i've got a 6Q1. So next steps are.. - Get some new switches and wiring for the ECU? - Find someone with VCDS to switch on cruise?
  15. Thanks for the pics, the one with wiper stalk attached deffo looks like the one in our car. I think i'd seen another thread somewhere that suggested this new style only came in on later models 2012 or 2015+ more incorrect info ๐Ÿ˜ซ I'll have a rummage under the dash soon to see what I can find on the control unit and let you know ๐Ÿ‘Œ
  16. Hey thanks, and sorry for the blind tag. I'm hoping to DIY this as much as possible. Am I able to check what unit I have currently and if it will support cruise? Are you able to link the correct part and or no. for a mk2? The listing does have the mk2 specified under 'suitable vehicles' but I know these are not always correct. Cheers, Wez.
  17. Amazing thanks, I've seen @Tech1e's work first hand on other similar threads. Hopefully I can entice them over to this one soon ๐Ÿฐ ๐Ÿบ

Many thanks to you also. I remember when we bought it there was another v. similar age & milage approved used mk2 but it was a dark blue or grey and ~ยฃ1k more! It's possible there was some other spec that I didn't notice but otherwise.. I'm not sure what their marketing dep. had against the orange but we love it ๐Ÿงก
  19. Hello, I've seen a few threads on this forum discussing retrofitting cruise control and I'm looking for some advise on doing the same to my Fabia mk2 2007 1.4L 16v. I watched a really helpful video of this being done to a 2006 Golf GTI: 1. VCDS was used to confirm the cruise control coding was accepted. 2. An aftermarket indicator stalk was fitted and then tested. I've found various indicator stalks that claim to be compatible with my car. I'm hoping all I need to do is: 1. Gain access to VCDS (I've seen your very helpful owners map ๐Ÿ™Œ) 2. Attempt to code the car for cruise control. 3. If this works, swap the indicator stalk for one with cruise control functions. - Does anyone see any problems with my master plan? - Is there anything I can check now without VCDS access to confirm this is possible on my vehicle? - Is this all a pipe dream? Any help greatly appreciated, Thanks, Wez.

Thanks both! @AnnoyingPentium My you've been busy, the red nugget is looking splendid, you've gained a new thread follower. We've become very fond of out 'ginger' mk2 in 7 years we've owned it - i've attached some pics from July 2014 when we found it, approved used from Westover Skoda in Bournemouth. All we've done since is add some roof bars for bikes and boards + keep up with the servicing.

Hello there! I thought it about time to register an account here as I have been reading your forums for a while now. What I've read so far has confirmed that I'm not alone in my grand plans for unnecessary modifications to our fabulous 07 Fabia mk2 1.4. I've maintained and serviced my own push bikes for a while now but only recently started taking on more car maintenance. I've already managed a few minor jobs with increasing difficulty myself like new plates, wipers, oil changes, front discs and pads. The aim is to keep this fab going as economically as we can and for as long as we can fit our growing family in to it.. When we do eventually outgrow it, a larger Skoda will still be top of our list.. so I hope to find solace in this forum for years to come. Many Thanks for all your unknowing contribution to date. Luke - aka Wez
