Just saw Matt Watson review on the facelift, he did sub 6 seconds to 60 on a really crappy road, so Skoda being relaxex with their figures again...

after a couple of weeks behind the wheel, some more personal observations it feels more dynamic from the get go then the previous model, there is obviously a small power hike, but the gearbox in normal mode just feels quicker, throttle response in normal feels quicker. so it feels like it always just wants to go..it feels fast all of the time, it feels like its just ready to go at it straight away. and anybody else whos got velvet red...it looks amazing when the sun catches it, its got a flake in it that really pops, like a little golden sheen

my last vrs was my first ever auto after 30+ years driving..I got used to it after 3 days and now 3 years later and onto to my second auto I would never go back! its pretty fool proof, you cant accidently pick reverse while moving forward or anything like that..its all electronic and it just wont let you, I personally dont use auto hold as I find it an irritant in stop start traffic

They are a bit fiddly , and not very chunky, on a cold day I could see an arm snapping off, mine are just going into the loft Wheels are actually nicer than the previous 19's

so annoyingly in the uk the nut cover packet for the glossy grey doesnt include locking wheelnut size caps the only ones I can find in the uk are matt grey, so I may have to source form czech side I think!

First impressions then, it's very refined. The lack of extra artificial sound makes it just a nicer place to sit. Gearbox in normal mode feels a bit quicker to respond It's still easy to turn of the lane assist, but now there's a speed warning as well, it's in the same place so you just knock them both off at the same time. Velvet red looks lush Pics on Friday as detail and gtechniq getting done today and tomorrow

I suspect the garage will be keen just register the car...I am lazy and live in a coastal town with a tyrannical seagull population, the gtechniq has been great on my last 3 cars

And I ordered the glossy grey wheel but caps and centre caps from the parts department while I was there last night, they will just leave them in the car, I will be getting a full gtechniq treatment at some point in the next few weeks, so will leave the aero covers off when that gets done

This is only for the facelift RS, it hasn't been out long enough to need service yet has it

Yeah I think it's not in the menu as it doesn't have one anymore, so the menu option isn't needed either

well mines built and at some point will set off on a train for germany and then onto me across the north sea!

Surely the exhaust isnt a part they are going to swap out for different markets, sound actuator I just always switched to individual so I got sport with no sound

For me my boat comes into the Tyne..I see them from my house! Big heugh one in at the minute they come in from Emden, which is a crazy looking place on Google maps, just acres of cars

Seen a couple of vids now , looks like there is mild dsg farting and some pops and burbles in sport

agreed, Timroadie is a sound bloke and I think the advantage of the octavia over the golf is the screen sits a bit lower so its never blocks the dash like the large screen does on the golf

also I had no real problems with ordering one unseen this will be be my fifth one..you know roughly what you are getting , then dont mess with the formula much it it was a car I was new too then yes I would want a good look, I had 4 golf gtis as well and the first time I moved to one was one I test drove..after that...no need, they dont change that much either

as above I think they are staging builds and reviews a few weeks ago we had loads of chinese/taiwanese only reviews then last week ALL the germans reviews dropped onto you tube in a day so at some point I would expect the uk journalists have already driven them and their will be a set date when all the reviews will pop up it certainly seem that uk orders have seemed to hit their build weeks in late october and early to mid november I can see why they would do them in batches with ours being right hand steering, and probably a different base spec
