  1. I ended up part ex’ing my Octavia in the end I was just getting constant problems so I didn’t bother trying to solder the lights.

  3. It was on the Octavia I just got rid of for my Superb, not sure about the Superb though.
  4. Hi all, I thought after getting my turbo actuator position adjusted I had resolved the big issues with my car but now the infotainment system has started not coming on with the ignition and switching itself off randomly if it has come on. It is not seeing the ignition on when I am driving and it goes off, same as the AC when I switch that on? Is it something simple I could do or does it mean an auto electrician visit? I'm losing the will to live with the car and looking at trading it in rather than spending anything substantial on it as I've ploughed a couple of grand into it since I bought it in October. Car is a 64 plate Octavia estate 1.6tdi Greenline. Any help or advice would be much appreciated or local experts in the North East wanting some pocket money that could sort it would be even better. 5. Thanks for the prompt reply mate, much appreciated. I'll have to investigate further when I get back on dry land then if that's how they are when they are working...... I assume they have a motor for them, i'll see if there's a fuse for that that may have blown.
  6. Morning everyone, Quick question, on the 64 plate Octavia estate I have, the headlight level switch has no effect on the headlight position, I was thinking about starting cheap with a second hand switch so I was wondering if anyone could tell me if there switch has any resistance when adjusting or clicks at each interval / level setting ( my Ford Ranger clicks into each adjustment setting so you can feel it) as mine almost 'free wheels' which makes me think the switch might be faulty? Thanks in advance
  7. I got a quote on Breakersyard for £222!!!!!!! Found cheaper elsewhere but I'll have to see about getting to the rockerswitch when I get back on dry land before buying a full replacement unit if i can get away with soldering.
  8. Thats a good idea DHM. I'll keep an eye out for a second hand bit too but I'd like it if someone could do a video showing how to repair the existing bit of kit.
  9. Just a quick intro. I have spent hours trawling through the Octavia MkIII forum looking at existing posts which cover some of the problems I have and have had. Brilliant resource this forum. Once I am back on dry land and I've seen whether there are any more issues I will start relevant topics to pick brains.
  10. Any more info on this troops as I have the same problem on my 64 plate Octavia Greenline estate
  11. Good afternoon, great forum from what I have seen when searching previous posts from queries I have had with my Octavia. I done a deal a few months ago with the C class estate I had for a 64 plate Octavia estate Greenline and have had no end of trouble with it, as I had with the Merc! Bought the car and had it a week, put it in for a service, belt and water pump and the brakes done so I thought it would be good for a good number of years with regular servicing. Drove to Aberdeen from Durham and it never missed a beat, parked for a week and when I got back to it it fired up first turn of the key which was a relief, 20 minutes in and the 'Check Coolant' message came up.... down to the next petrol station to fill up with diesel andcheck coolant reservoir which was almost empty. Topped that up and off on the road, 30 minutes later... 'Coolant level low' and upon topping up found black oil in the coolant! Thought the worst, trudged home topping up every half hour and luckily got it into a garage the following day or so and had cooler replaced and other bits done. Had various problems since with the car going into limp mode, drivers side air vents jammed so I only get hot air out (not bad this time of year but needs sorting if I keep the car), turbo actuator replaced ( 3 weeks in between getting this done and the car going into fault again), infotainment system switching itself off or not coming and not seeing ignition on even though the car is driving??? Amongst other things...... one more chance then it's going in for a Superb Estate!! Love the car mind, 70+mpg which is ideal for the miles I do.
