  1. You need to insert a radio removal tool, like the attached ones, in each hole that you see on the front of the unit
  2. You can definitely fix it, and you don't need to change the whole unit. Even if you change the unit in the glovebox with one from a car with mib 2.5, my understanding is that it will need coding. Better look for someone who is doing coding for VAG cars, and can restore the firmware, then they can update to MIB2.5 also. Maybe going on the Facebook groups for MIB 2 or MIB 2.5 you can find someone local to you.
  3. I got mine stuck also with the Skoda logo on bootloop, but nothing else was working. I got it fixed by someone, but I had to send the unit in the glovebox. If you are in the UK I can pass you his details
  4. An update for my f'up from above. I went with the unit to someone doing coding and stuff, and he said is dead. Then, I've sent the unit and 9.2' screen to another person in Ludlow , and behold, he recovered, updated to mib2.5 and is all back working now. So happy panick is over. Changed the trim above the radio also, with one from ebay, and it's all done now. Screen is way better on the 9.2', and it's not that bad without the physical buttons. 30min in the car with the new screen, and I don't miss the old one 😄
  5. So I managed to f'up somehow. I've put the firmware as on the guide, in the root of a fat32 formated card, modifying the metainfo2 file. When I've inserted the card, I was prompted with the 'update available ' message but nothing happened. I've left it like this for like 5min, nothing happened, so I went into the menu, and pressed the update menu. Nothing happened also. I've removed the card a few times(changing the adapter for it, as it was a microsd in an adapter, thinking that is the issue) but no luck. Then I noticed menus can't be accessed in the infotainment(radio was working, but couldn't see the menu), and after I've left the car off for like 15min, I get a boot loop with the Skoda logo(stays on a few minutes, and then resets and comes back), and can't go into the menus anymore. I've put the original firmware on the card, and hopped it will boot from it and go back to stock, but can't see anything after 10-15min of waiting. Is it bricked ? Anyone has any idea if I can salvage the unit ? or do I need a new mib2 unit (radio + glovebox thing) ?
  6. So you think that is because it might need a proper coding ?
  7. Good to hear. I can now buy the MIB 2.5 without issues then haha
  8. I have posted the wrong photo, and MIB-helper says that this is the latest version. Anyone knows how accurate that is ?
  9. Anyone can help me with some info of how to update the MIB2 to the latest version before I try and upgrade the unit to a MIB 2.5 ? The car has a Canton audio system, don't know if that makes any difference.
  10. Thanks. The link you gave me ( don't know why it didn't came back in my google search) gives me a lot of answers, as one towbar that I found has the letter A and one the letter D. Funnily enough, I did emailed these guys a while ago, to ask them about the lead time on one of the codes I've found on their website, and they said they can't confirm it will fit my car if the part wasn't on my car when it left the factory.
  11. I don't want the faff of putting the neck, remove the neck. I had that type of towbar on my previous Superb, an MK2, and it was stuck in there. No matter what I did, it didn't want to come out. Plus, I think on the MK3 it requires to trim the bumper a bit to put a swan neck towbar, and I want to avoid that.
  12. I am set on the OEM one if I do it, as I don't want to cut anything on the bumper, and I want it just to hide away when I am not using it. Looking on ebay( as I want to buy it second hand) I can find the same code for one that was on an estate or a hatch, the only difference would be the last letter of that code, but I think that only is saying that is a revised version or not. The code they have is 3V0803881. If you could share the catalogues for estate and hatch, that would be great. I know it will need coding and so all the electrics on the car won't go crazy when I connect a trailer, so don't think getting someone to code an original one will be way more expensive than an aftermarket one. Regarding the plate on the piller, yes, I got that, plus the V5 stated the maximum towing capacity, so it should be fine from the legal point of view.
  13. Hi all. I am looking to hit a towbar on my 280 hatch, and because I don't want it in plain sight all the time, I was looking at the OEM ones. Having searched for the code of the towbar that will fit on a hatch, I keep coming across the information that the same product fits on estate and hatch. Is this true ? Or the sites that sell these new don't have a clue ? Another question would be, how do I know if the car is equipped for towbar ? Do I just check the fusebox, and if there is a wire coming out that fuse, it means I got all the cables and modules ? Thanks
  14. Alex is well known and reputable, so you can buy with confidence.
  15. What error you got for the haldex ? When I had a Passat with haldex, and the system decided to die(I had to replace the diff and it's module), that would disable my traction control
