  1. EDITED If complete, including the sterling silver stamp replicas it might be worth something. See #524 here: http://www.auction-net.co.uk/viewAuction.php?id=2351&offset=500 Here's another from ebay: https://www.worthpoint.com/worthopedia/post-office-official-commemorative-512060776
  2. Re: mainstream media that deliberately omit uncomfortabel truths: Guess you've seen the photo of a woman wearing hijab that went viral after the Westminster Bridge attack? http://www.news.com.au/technology/online/social/what-was-really-going-on-when-this-photo-was-taken/news-story/c0e04f739dfd1312acd241cc770f4e07 Would it surprise you to hear that mainstream media omitted to report that she was in Stockholm last Friday? Amazing what can be done with photoshop software. But it makes me sick that there are people out there, full of self-righteousness and convinced that they are carriers of "real truth", that exploit killed and injured people. Another pic from Stockholm yesterday, pinched from mainstream media (Dagens Nyheter): What I see is compassion and community spirit. What I cannot see is people down on all fours, taking it up the Hershey Highway (as SkodaVRS1963 so beautifully put it).
  3. Robotic mowers are nice, but if there are hedgehogs about make sure it doesn't run at night. Quite a few hedgehogs injured/killed by them. An evironmental-friendly alternative:
  4. A brilliant example of "alternative facts", as can be expected if you merely look at Google/Youtube hits without considering the sender or trying to check facts using independent sources. Not surprised that you can't find any information from BBC - Swedish news media says little or nothing about crime in, say, Leeds, Bristol, Manchester. Try "Swedish Beeb": http://sverigesradio.se/sida/artikel.aspx?programid=2054&artikel=6630452 Rinkeby is definitvely a troubled suburb, marked by segregation and unemployment and, consequentally, crime (and criminal gangs). But NPT officers work in Rinkeby and it's not a "no-go zone". Nor is Rosengård in Malmö or Biskopsgården in Gothenburg, other areas of similar character.
  5. We have a Bosch Rotak 43 Li. No idea how big the lawn is after deductiong for house, garage, veg patch, but approximately 8,000-10,000 sq ft. It came with two batteries and I usually need to switch to a new battery halfway through - or after about 45 mins., just as V6TDI said. Half the weight of a petrol mower and less noise, I'm quite happy with it (as happy as you could be having to mow the lawn regularly)
  6. ...which here in Sweden means that we tuck into wheat buns filled with almond paste and whipped cream: Enjoy your pancakes!
  7. The self-image of a Beemer owner, or the almighty's obvious choice of car?
  8. We people of the Nordic countries have it in our veins: we give everyone (strangers included) a warm welcome... as long as we can count on them going back home (or elsewhere) soon Historically, Finland might not has been that open towards immigration, but they've definitely taken their share of asylum seekers lately. Compare with the UK in this diagram (if you dare):
  9. Wasn't there another PM some 80 years ago who held his nose and smiled while meeting a democratically elected leader of a large trading partner? (Godwin Warning)
  10. Had to replenish the stock and went for the Longmorn 16 yrs: Speysides are often interesting, and this one was quite nice. Slightly stronger (48%) than the ordinary, so a few drops of water don't do any harm.
  11. There's a (unofficial but functioning) workaround, though: http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/397671-windows-10-discussion-and-advice/#entry4730398
  12. That part about not having time sounds familiar... but since New Year's Day I'm a part time (50%) pensioner so can't make that excuse anymore. My fingers are not as quick as they once were, though :(
  13. Can't promise I can come the whole way in a year, but surely there's nothing wrong in having ambition? ;)
  14. :D Unfortunately I haven't got access to any recording equipment making justice to the sweet sound of my guitar. With a bit of practice it (and I) should sound like this within the next 353 days or so:
  15. It's a Frii, built by two brothers Frii who came to Sweden from Finland as child evacuees during WW2. Their father joined them after the war and they picked up the trade from him. Apparently they built no more than 500 guitars. And it's got a fully acoustic body, the floating pickup is an optional extra. Don't know if I've got the nerve to offer a demo, though. Will have to practice for a while :P
  16. bought by myself for myself: Made by a small and long since gone guitar maker in north Sweden, probably in the late 40's. It's outright stupid to buy a guitar on ebay, I know, but this time I was lucky - straight neck, no cracks/fissures and the sound is really good. All in all (with a little bit of polishing/adjustment by a local craftsman) it cost me less than £500. A bargain, I hope.
  17. Not sure about that. UK Copyright law allows for "Recording of broadcasts for the purposes of listening to or viewing at a more convenient time" (see para. 8, https://www.copyrightservice.co.uk/copyright/p01_uk_copyright_law). Privately downloading a programme available on, say, BBC iPlayer for later viewing is essentially the same thing as if you store a program on your set-top box' HDD or when you, in the good old days, made a VHS recording of a programme you wanted to view later. Trouble arises if you distribute your recording or if you try to crack a DRM encryption or some other device intended to block downloading.
  18. As long as we're speaking of whiskeys: When it comes to whiskies, though, count me into the Aberlour Brigade. A'bunadh when I can afford it, but the 12 yrs goes down brilliantly, too.
  19. My first not-so-mobile Storno Explorer, aka Motorola Associate: A bargain at £400 back in '92
  20. You nailed it - think I found the original pic, a Fiero Formula 1988
  21. I think there was some early devvelopment collaboration between NSU and Mazda, but as I understand it Mazda designed their own motors (and more reliable than NSU's). As to your pic, i'll need to think a bit...
  22. My guess is that Sanders' chances to win the election would've been the same as Corbyn's chances becoming the next PM. Had the Democrat moguls persuaded Michelle Obama, on the other hand... The logical sequel to Brexit and Trump is Marine Le Pen becoming next French president
  23. NSU Ro 80 it is... with a certain relationship to the Mazda Cosmo.
