  1. The screens you can see on the right are the Driver display unit and the Train control monitoring system. One gives you all the information on the engine/loco and the other provides information on the whole train as a set with the coaches attached. We still have the paper diagrams on us. Drivers release doors on these sets and the guard closes them.
  2. Yes virtually identical except there’s no direct brake handle (the handle the furthest left in the pic) and the addition of CCTV monitors in the DT end.
  3. They make a rather good noise too. Me leaving Huddersfield yesterday. C457DA56-AE35-4E88-AF20-9ED8A2D07FED.mp4
  4. Very spacious compared to the class 185’s. Also sat high and central in these.
  5. I’m pretty lucky being allowed to drive such a powerful beasts across the country. Crew are currently undergoing traction training on them. And what about that for a name?.....😀
  6. So much choice out there and endless performance tweaks. This is my fun/weekend car. A little Abarth 595 Competizone. It’s 180Bhp with Brembo brakes, Koni Shocks, Monza exhaust, Bmc air filter all as standard spec. My Superb 280 would destroy it down a runway but I’ve not had so much fun round twisty Yorkshire roads in any car more than this, ever. Its an amazing little thing and sounds unbelievable.
  7. Hi all thought I’d share a story with you all that’s relevant to some degree here and it certainly put a little smile on mine and the kids faces. Yesterday, I was out and about with the wife and our two young girls when my wife asked if I’d stop off at Tesco whilst she ran and and picked up a couple of things. Naturally I obliged and we stopped outside and I waited in the car with the girls whilst she went in. At at the same time another Skoda Superb, same year, spec and colour parked up in front of me and I smiled to myself thinking ‘nice car pal’, as you do. The same thing with this Skoda. The driver waited in his car and his front passenger got out and went into Tesco. I then said to my girls, ‘I bet mummy gets in the wrong car...’. The girls laughed and nodded. A couple of minutes later my wife appears. In her own world as usual and not even aware there’s now two almost identical cars in front of her. Guess what happened next? She approached the strangers car, opened the door, got in, sat down, closed the door and I could see her going for the seat belt. At this point I was in too much of a fit of laughter to go and intervene and knew any moment she’d appear. Next thing the door opened and a very red faced wife appeared repeatedly saying ‘I’m really sorry!’ My wife got in my car saying ‘oh my god’ and we all carried on laughing. Wondered whether the driver was on here. Apparently he was laughing too and said to my wife ‘oh hello’ as she got in Not often I see a car that looks identical to mine. But to see one then it stop next to mine and then my wife get in it just made me laugh. Cheers for listening folks.
  8. Personally not had a single issue with any Skoda I’ve owned. The count is now up to five. Did someone mention French cars? Ive had a Citroen Saxo VTS, Peugeot 207GT and a Renault 19 16v (remember them?). All the french stuff went bad on me. Electrical gremlins and really badly timed breakdowns. The pug was the worst by far. Became good friends with the service department and eventually had my own parking space at the dealership. As long as there’s a hole in my @r5e I’d never buy another French machine.
  9. Good drills Ste. Youll love the car mate. I cant stop looking at mine and every journey is something to look forward to. Best wishes pal
  10. Correct Also don’t forget any vehicle driven by a 17yr old apprentice tradesman...
  11. I’ve been fortunate enough to own both and they are completely different animals. Apples and Oranges as Penguin said. The 245 was quick but the 280 is quicker and certainly feels like it has more pace than the 5.6s 0-60 would suggest. Down a runway the Superb would blitz the Octavia but around a track I’m not so sure. The 245 would let you throw it around much more and felt a lot tighter around corners letting you enter them with much more speed and confidence. The 280 is more of a executive express and certainly no track toy. But it would take you home in comfort and get you up to licence losing speeds in the blink of an eye. Christ knows what a remapped 280 would be like. Probably kill most things off the line.
