  1. My 68 plate 272 is weird at coasting. I used to stick my 6 speed DSG Octavia VRS in Eco and it would coast by lifting your foot off the accelerator up to a certain speed, every single time. My 272 will coast sometimes (in Eco, ACC off) but not others and I cant seem to work out the pattern or requirements for it to cut in.
  2. As above, I think the mapping is also different between a Superb Sportline and the Octavia VRS which is designed to be a bit more hooligan. I found my Octavia VRS, albeit with the 6 speed box, to be a bit more responsive and raw. I think throttle response is the most annoying thing, but I reckon a TVS map (I dont have one but want to get one from the research Ive done) and a throttle box will transform the car. I dont think throwing more power at it is necessarily the right way at the moment, accessing the power in the right way is more of a priority.
  3. My 68 plate has drive mode based as I changed it to the same colour regardless of mode. Mine is a November car though. Not sure about MFD though, will have to check.
  4. Winter petrol, colder temps, more draw of electric... Many reasons. I recently got 39 MPG on a round trip at the end of October in my 272, 3 up, pootling up to Alton Towers from Plymouth and back although I have thought that its very warm for this time of year (10-12 degrees at 6am - in Plymouth anyway) and is only just starting to drop in temp. As above, check wheels for binding calipers, tyre pressures and decent fuel.
  5. I wouldnt disagree! Such a daft design. Despite not wanting to spend lots of money on this like its my own (not on stuff thats not easily removable/reversible, well, not yet) this makes alot of sense for peace of mind. My Octavia had 70 something thousand on the clock when I swapped that one out, but was thankfully ok. Always seems to be diesels that have more problems with them than petrols too from what I've seen on FB groups, not sure why.
  6. Ah its a pain though isnt it. I remember looking through Autodoc for discs and pads for my Octavia, that was bad enough for things that might fit but you always had to read the description and specifics.
  7. Yes buddy, it had 'Mit Silikat' on. I still have it, other than being a bit dirty and discoloured its fine though not sure what else to do with it. I've removed the silicone pouch. It looks basically the same.
  8. Another job ticked off the list, new coolant reservoir minus the silicone bag, bought from AW Tuning and supposedly a genuine bottle. Part number: 5Q0 121 407 M. After removing the old one and draining it I could see the silicone bag in the main body so would have been easily removed but I didnt know if it was double skinned and hidden. Easily fitted and some fresh G12 Evo to go with it too.
  9. So as an update, I went to collect the touch up paint today. The lady who served me wasnt the same who served me on Monday and its labeled as the correct one. She said she didnt know why he would say it was Glacier White as it obviously ordered the correct one, at least its sorted! Thanks to everyone, hopefully the TPS link will help some as well as Id imagine it works from some kind of VAG supplied database.
  10. That sounds like a nightmare, I hope you get it sorted!
  11. Thanks JR RS, I have checked the boot and its not there! Its normally on the left next to the wheel well isnt it? Thats where it was on my Octavia but Ive checked the Superb and it been taken out. Cant even see any signs of a sticker. Someone on Facebook did post this link: https://tps.trade/info/paint-lookup?utm_source=Magazine&utm_medium=Print&utm_campaign=Direct+Insider+Magazine&utm_id=Direct+Insider That link above shows it as Moon White Metallic so Ill go and challenge the dealer tomorrow 😆
  12. I didn't know it was there but I shall check it tomorrow. Thanks @Danoid
  13. Hi all, I recently bought a 2018 Skoda Superb Sportline. I remember asking what the colour was, Moon White Metallic I was told. This is confirmed by the paperwork I have telling me the specs of the car which the photo below is of. After a few months of owning the car and wanting to touch in some small chips here and there I went into my local dealer (car was bought from a dealer 4 hours away) and they say that based upon my reg its Glacier White. I have looked and cant find a sticker in the boot to confirm. How do I check this as I dont want to take the wrong touch up paint away as they will probably refuse to refund/replace. Is Glacier White and Moon White the same? Unfortunately on Google it doesnt look alot different. Thanks in advance, Doug
  14. Same VRM, same car. I know there has been some heavily tuned Superbs before this, it always amazes me that its so much power for basically bolt on parts and a map.
  15. Hey all, Sorry to revive again this old thread. Relatively new owner of a 2018 Superb Sportline 272, loving it so far (other than the creaky sunroof but thats another story) The car is on a 3 year PCP agreement with 2 year Skoda warranty (first time for PCP, normally buy outright but end up buying cars that I plow money into and sell for a loss when I get bored every 2-3 years) My last car was a Octavia VRS mk3 220 TSI which wasnt mapped. I can definitely tell the Superb is quicker, but I am still wanting more this early on into ownership. I physically can (although wont) remap as I dont want to have any issues with finance agreement (worse case scenario) or warranty (more likely) so I've been looking at the likes of the JB4, JB1, DTUK and RaceChip boxes. I've always been under the impression a remap is better, but the boxes sound a lot more sophisticated than the old ones that were little more than resistors for fueling and boost and come with the benefit of not worrying about car warranty. I'm leaning towards the JB4 based upon alot that I have read. A few questions: 1. Do people tend to remove theirs when the car goes into garages for work/services? Is that a faff to do? 2. Does the JB4 have to be plugged into the OBD2 port all the time or is this for adjustment? 3. Has anyone noticed any difference with the gearbox behaviour? Is a gearbox tune beneficial on top? 4. Any disadvantages? I am not racing around and redlining the car very often and one thing I enjoy is the mid range punch when on a B road, not so much racing away from the lights or track use. I know it wont be as individual to the car but it only has 45k on, so not worried about failing componentry or pushing big power. 5. Any issues with gearbox and slippage? I have the 7 speed DQ381. From reading I think Id be happy with Map 2 to start.
  16. I did that for an e46 330D coupe, felt great. But Id had a pedal box on a MK3 Clio 197 too, it was fly by wire but laggy and the pedal box transformed it.
  17. I a throttle controller didnt change the Idle RPM, that was referring to the point the gearbox wants to change in normal driving. I would be tempted by a TCU tune to change shift points, not sure how pointless it is without the power though.
  18. Thanks gents, I think will go for one, I just didnt want to go changing too much too quickly. I know what I'm like, and I kinda already want to map it but as its PCP, I'm very reluctant for a multitude of obvious reasons. I remember a pedal box making the car feel faster even though it wont be. I think it also wouldnt be as bad if the gearbox didnt want to sit at 1500 RPM everywhere but I appreciate its thinking of economy unless in sport. Maybe a TCU tune in certain modes (to change shift points - if possible) and a pedal box might be all it needs to be a better overall package without adding any power to invalidate warranties, etc. @JR RS, what did you have done for the gearbox tune?
  19. After a few weeks I have become more familiar with the car. Its an amazing all rounder, comfortable, spacious and more than enough power for day to day. DCC is a game changer and I tend to keep it in 'Normal' most of the time but firming it up in 'Sport' is as hard as it needs to be for UK roads. MPG is currently around 28 which isnt bad. I have only been doing short runs except for a visit to my parents in the country. This allowed me to stretch its legs and see its perks. It feels sharp, most likely the Haldex but the back end doesnt just feel like its following the front. This is my first AWD car and although I know its not permanent AWD, it hooks up and goes! I still would like a sharper throttle response however. I am looking at OBD Eleven for some adaptions and maybe some long coding. I know theres an option for more sensitive throttle response which I am going to try before buying a pedal box. Look at the beading too!
  20. Dent removed! Jason from Autodentz was really friendly and professional, he made it clear that its hard to remove the dent completely without taking out crash structures in the door which is significant work. The only ever so slightly noticeable bit is the factory crease is a little less pronounced in one area but its a huge improvement. Before After
  21. Thats another cheap option! I think it just comes down to using metal clips on the glass reinforced plastic part, if it was a different material it might not groan and squeak.
  22. Yeh, not sure how these adaptions actually take, but if I get ODB Eleven (on the Christmas list) then I can test. From another post on here I believe the handbrake release seems to be that itll release quicker or slower than set, but I might have got this wrong. I have no issue with start/stop, but as I tend to do shorter journeys (5 miles to work) I find that it wont do it to start, then itll do it, then itll stop again. I seem to remember reading there is different options for start/stop, such as changing the threshold voltage levels. I might just get a plug in adaptor so its off as standard and turn it back on. In Sport the throttle response is pretty good but all other modes are a bit lazy I find and and I still want it a tad more responsive overall. Id love for throttle response and gearbox behaviour to be separate as Sport mode on gearbox just revs out more often than not, then if you need sport mode on gearbox for overtaking can flick back on the gear lever but I can see why theyve done it as they have. Headlight washers are so annoying. My car is rarely ever dirty enough to need them, but I tend to use windscreen washers alot.
  23. Theres certainly a few on there Id like to do. I wanted to enable the exhaust flappy thing to be open all the time. And Im really intrigued at the sensitive accelerator change. A few others I saw on the ODB Eleven list of one click mods is: -Change the timing of handbrake release -start/stop alterations -Interior light fading -Start button pulsating -headlight washer cycles
  24. I actually used a bicycle spray lube as I could get a straw in there to prevent it going everywhere. This was Mucoff All Weather spray lube but in an ideal world Id use some slippery lithium grease if I didnt have access issues. I dont think its an area that gets any water exposure so shouldnt need redoing once done. I also used a small amount of the lube on a rag across all the rubber seals once I had ruled out the clips, more just to help stop them getting dirty and manky.
  25. I hope it solves it for you too, seems crazy simple on reality! The only other thing I have now is a slight rattle at low speed from the driver's side door, sounds a bit like when window switches get a bit worn and loose but doesnt appear to be that. Its not spoiling the drive like the sunroof was however so not concerned.
