I've got an opportunity to buy in some xenon headlights particularly cheap... But I'm looking for some advise on how to retrofit.. 1) how to do a legitimate swap including sensor etc.. 2) how to do a swap without the sensor and washer etc... 3) how to refurbish the projector if it's tarnished as they usually are... 4) if it's even worth doing, my current halogen are crap I've cleaned them up as best I can but tbh they're past now... It's cheaper for me to buy these units with lamps and ballasts than to even buy a replacement set of night breakers or similar bulbs... Thoughts on a post card with these, they look to be in bloody good nick with all tabs attached too

Ah in which case, I need to find some ap rear adjusters asap
-
Yeah I mean as long as they have a pit it should be fine, but if they're on a 2 poster then it's going to be a no-go

So as my MOT has expired I've been looking around the car to make sure she is fit and ready to get a fresh ticket for another happy year of hard abuse *(cough)* I mean happy motoring. I've found though that my rear coilover adjusters are missing (I assume a previous owner took them out to get the car lower), this means that when the car is on jack stands, the bloody springs slot out of their seats. I can only presume, this will be a massive fail on the test. So from what I understand is I have 2 options, try and get hold of a set of adjusters only or fork out and replace the entire set of coilovers. Basically what I'm asking here, is does anyone know if there is a 3rd option? To stop my having to completely re-adjust the suspension all round to suit the rear height change? I'm not precious about keeping it this low, but just exploring the available options as they stand right now.

I think you are right... I fitted some spacers and it's nicely out of the way of the rack now! But I wouldn't be surprised if that 4mm was right since it was 3 or 4mm on the spacers I put in
-
Yeah it was the dog bone mount, it's the underside

@ScottB832I don't know if you got to the end of the steering issues? I sorted mine out today! After much umming and urring I ordered a rack, ripped the old one out on my driveway and found this. Fitted new one put some spacers in the dog bone mount to give it clearance and tested it. I've never felt fabia power steering but it's nicer than my 22 plate Vito so I'm over the moon. I bought the new one as a service exchange for £150 on eBay! 3 years and 60k mile warranty. Hope this helps you out mate, if you haven't already sorted the steering in your car 😉

Difficulty changing steering rack

Yeah he literally did an octy hence offering -
I've got a recon rack coming tomorrow, since it's finally determined that the rack is the cause for my busted steering. Unfortunately I am against the clock to get it fixed as the MOT has expired and I'm dead keen to get the MOT on the weekend. I've been quoted £100 to fit it by a mate but I'm thinking about just doing the job myself and saving the money. Neither of us have a ramp so axle stands it will be... Anyone got any ideas on the rough time it will take to swap these out and the difficulty level? I mean I've rebuilt an engine on my coffee table in the past, but with the time being limited I'm contemplating both options. Any advise would be gratefully received

Hi mate, it's a 2 parter so terminates after the cat
-
That's ideal to know! I was thinking if it was the rear I'd stick it on stands and drop the axle but if it's the downpipe it's a different conversation, I have acces too both but unfortunately they aren't mine and the guy who owns it is extremely busy with paying customers at the moment 😂 Tbh I think the downpipe and 'cat' will likely snap apart as it's made of scaffold pole at the moment as it is 😂 but tbh that gives me more reason to get it in the air, I haven't a clue what the hell is going on with it as it's not a proper system. I appreciate the advice hugely mate 👍👍

Is this for the downpipe, backbox or entire system?
-
I feared this would be the case, I'm guessing it needs the clearance for weird angles then? 2ft on Ramps isn't going to work like I originally had planned then 😮💨 I'll have to have a word around and see if I can get access to a ramp for a while

Hi all, probably been covered before on at least one post but I'm damned if I can find it. I've bought a milltek from a chap about 100 miles away, I'm collecting on Friday. As it happens I have to stay home all day on Monday as I have tradespeople working around the house, so it seems like it will be the best opportunity to swap the home brew scaffold pole straight pipe out for the milltek (bought the car like it, it's not my contraption). I'm not too bothered about the old exhaust, I'll cut it out with my grinder if I have to, but the milltek has only 2 parts, downpipe (including the decat) and backbox, they seem to join in the middle somewhere.... Has anyone got any experience and pointers on how to actually get the milltek fitted on? Also any access pointers on how to get the downpipe off would be appreciated also.

Hi everyone My alarm system is showing as not installed on vcds, when in fact it is installed. Back in the summer I had an issue with my central locking to which the alarm was going off all the damn time, so I disconnected the fuse to the alarm system to stop the siren from irritating my neighbours. I fixed the issue and put the fuse back in but ever since the alarm system has never worked. No lights flashing, can do all the things that the manual says will trigger it and vcds is adamant that it isn't installed. Any ideas? It's not a huge pain in the backside, although I am slowly getting this car back into mint condition, this is on the list. So far 50% of the issues are now fully resolved. 😂
