  1. Not too sure on that, will need to check the part numbers. If it does, then I'll probably just upgrade the control arm bushes to the SuperPro ones.
  2. Thanks all for the suggestions and ideas so far. Tyres are Goodyear Eagle Asymmetric 5 in 245/40/19 so should be all good. The steering feel was the same (still very light) when it had horrible tyres on it from the previous owner. The idea of recoding the rack firmware is something that I'm interested in trying, purely as it's "cheap and cheerful", though I'd need to learn ODIS or find someone who does. Even if it just makes the steering heavier, that's a plus. Alloy control arms might be the next item as I had them on one of my golf's and the difference was quite noticeable once aligned properly. Combined with a thicker RSB (SuperPro 24mm) it made a significant difference. I was lucky enough to get another RSB on sale recently, it has been sitting on the shelf waiting for a couple of months.
  3. Hi folks, I'm finding the steering feel of the Superb somewhat lifeless, vague and far too light. Looking for your help to see what I can do to improve it Having owned 3 other VAG's (2 x Golf R's and 1 x Golf Alltrack) I'm used to the lack of steering feedback however, the Superb is the worst so far. Drove my wife's Alltrack the other day and it was more direct than the Superb. Current handling mods are just Eibach lowering springs at the moment, and good tyres. Have also had a play with the XDR settings as well, didn't seem to make much difference. The main issues I'm noticing are: Steering is too light - Even in sport mode, it doesn't seem to get much stiffer either Too much free play when on-centre Zero feel - Mark Zuckerberg has more feelings than this steering rack 😂 Reading this thread by @Legion suggests the issue may be related to the type of steering rack used in the Superb however, I'd prefer not to resort to such drastic measures yet. Has anyone had success in making the steering better in these cars?
  4. As someone who has recently been through this hell too, I'd recommend recording the sound. While you or your passenger are recording, move your phone or whatever your recording device to different places (e.g. under the dash, near the centre console etc). Then when you play it back, make a note of where the sound was loudest. This will help you focus where the sound actually is, and save time by not searching places where it isn't.
  5. Depending on where you're located, you could try Thompson Skoda at Parramatta. They didn't exactly fix my issue but at least they were quick to look at it. YMMV. Good luck!
  6. You'd be surprised to know that this was actually happening at all speeds, which was why I was so keen to get rid of it 🤯 Maybe because it was inside a home made of hard plastics, that may have enhanced the sound somewhat. Have attached a recording (if the forum will allow it to be uploaded) that was taken at approx. 20-30 kph while turning the steering wheel back and forth. That recorded on my phone sitting on the centre console. recording-file.m4a
  7. Ah right, good to know. Kind of explains the small fan and heatsink. Thanks mate, it certainly has made a huge difference to the cabin ambience and my sanity. Now just need to sort out the creaking sunroof/roofliner 😂
  8. I think today was my lucky day. I found the little f**ker! Underneath the passenger seat is the control unit thing with the black plastic cover. I pulled this off (which I have done before) and decided I'd also pull the control unit out to see what was underneath. I then found a broken zip tie, which made me wonder if someone had previously run cabling through here and cut the zip ties So I then proceeded to pull the carpet up next to where the plastic cover would be (as pictured) After poking around a bit, I felt something metallic that didn't belong there..............WTF??????? The cause of my near insanity over the last few months is a.....coax connector?!?! In fact, it is a BNC coax connector. Most likely scenario is the previous owner had a UHF radio and they (or the dealership I bought it from) kindly left the connector as a gift when they removed it 🤬 Took the car for a spin and sound is definitely gone! Thanks to everyone who posted on this thread. It's great to see how helpful people are on this forum and truly appreciate your input. Cheers!
  9. So over the weekend I had a bit of a poke around the engine bay and lifted up the plastic panel below the windscreen. Underneath is a hole that looks like it enjoys eating 10mm sockets that have been left behind, so I'll probably drop a camera down there at some point. Another "gem" was the DSG breather found dangling under the airbox. I'd never seen this before so I googled the part number and found its actually supposed to be attached to the battery box!! So probably been flapping around, making a racket in the engine bay for a while.
  10. Good idea and thanks for the tip. Will check them out once I get my hands on an inspection camera Did the pollen filter recently so all good there Checked around all the seats Have done the passenger side, will check the drivers soon Have done the passenger side, drivers I think has the bonnet release Checked sunroof too The endoscope is a great idea 😀 Yeah, I really need another passenger in the car to help locate it. My wife is deaf in her right ear so the noise for her sounds like its coming from the front. To me, its in the centre console 🤷‍♂️ Tried that one, I have since found the glue holding that storage matt is is pretty weak and mine was already peeling off. Quite easy for a screw or coin to slip down there though hahaha yep, pretty much. Now that my sunroof has started creaking again, I'm considering making this a dealer problem and see if they'll fix both at the same time
  11. G'day mate, Thank you for sharing that. Do you perhaps know if this was part of a VAG technical bulletin? I have had similar issues with my Superb and they stated in their repair notes "tightened some bolts" which is pretty vague. This did indeed fix the issue for about a month, but since then the problem has returned. If there is a technical bulletin for this issue, at least I can try and see whether this can be reinvestigated by the dealer. I suspect that if this is new information, then they can at least have another go at fixing it. Also, which Skoda dealer did the repair for you? Cheers!
  12. No sunglasses cabinet on mine unfortunately 🙁 I'd say its longer going forwards/backwards, but not by much. Wherever this thing is, it's in a pretty small space. The car was purchased second hand through a dealer and the noise has been there pretty much from the start. Who knows what the previous own did to it, there are 2 small screw holes in the centre console trim where that had something (radar detector maybe?) mounted. And yes, I have checked behind that trim already 😂 Ah yep, I have left stuff there by mistake and even picked up a free 1/8 extension bar from a mechanic who left it there as a gift. Thanks for the idea, I will have a look.
  13. Unfortunately mine actually doesn't have one, it has control unit in its place. Took the plastic cover off and had a peek though
  14. I certainly have, at first I thought it may have been in the door cards so gave them all a shake. Seems like it doesn't roll very far though, the sound only happens for a second or so each time.
  15. As someone who has both, don't bother with Carista. It's cheaper from the outset but it will still require a subscription to even do basic code reading (which is just linking to a Google search of the error code) OBDEleven is far superior, but you obviously have the subscription model. Very easy to use and most major tweaks are already there in the app.
  16. Very good idea, will give that a try. My wife couldn't tell where but I'll get a second opinion. Cheers!
  17. That is certainly a possibility, though the aircon ducts are made of thin, flexible plastic. Unless there's a hard piece at the end, I don't think they would generate the same sound.
  18. Hi folks, Not sure if anyone can help with this but I thought I'd give it one last shot before I call it quits, or send the car to Skoda/mechanic. Basically the problem is a loose screw or something metallic that is rolling around inside the cabin. The location seems to be from the centre console however, it is very hard to pinpoint exactly where it comes from. The noise occurs when turning left and right, and can easily be reproduced by accelerating and then braking sharply. This makes whatever this object is roll around whatever panel its inside. It sounds very similar to the sound of a screw rolling on a hard plastic surface, meaning quite a few places it could be. So far I have pulled apart the: Glovebox Rear ashtray/cubby box thing Gear stick surround Rubber matt where the wireless charging is Centre console lid Front coin box thingy next to the steering wheel The trims around the sunroof switch and interior light pane I've also taken the side panel off the centre console and run a magnet around up the middle, plus checking inside the centre aircon duct that exits to the rear passengers. Taking the whole centre console out would be my next step however its quite a job. Should probably mentioned that I have taken all loose objects out of the car as well, including the umbrellas. Any ideas would be much appreciated!
  19. Here is my 2019 Sportline 4x4. Best/worst colour choice and was dirty again 5 minutes after this pic was taken. Currently Stage 2+ ECU & Stage 3 TCU tuned by TVS. Sitting on Eibach Pro's, with 245/40/R19 rubber.
  20. Hi gang, Another newbie saying "Hello" all the way from Sydney, Australia! After owning 2 VW Golf R's and a BMW M140i, I recently became part of the Skoda family after purchasing a 2019 MKIII Superb Sportline 206tsi (which is a 280 in Europe?). Great to see how active the Skoda community is compared to VW and BMW. I'm pretty keen on modding and have already fitted Eibach springs, downpipe and had the car tuned by a local TVS dealer. I also try and get my hands dirty as much as possible, and have been known to replace downpipes & intercoolers myself. This time round though, I did the sensible thing and had my mechanic do a proper job 😂 Anyway, if you've made it this far, thanks for reading. Cheers, Clive
