  1. I was searching for anyone with the same issue, but here it is! I use Carplay on my iPhone, my wife uses Android Auto. I'm the only user registered to the car and a key, she isn't. No matter what I try: if she is anywhere near the car it will always (and I mean always, even when she's in the house and I'm leaving, sitting in the car) try to connect her phone first. I now disabled wireless AA on her phone, so that it least it won't be able to connect, but still it "sees" her phone and it will take some time when it seems to be trying to connect her phone first, so I manually have to tap "Use CarPlay" until it picks that up. One of the most annoying issues I have with the car (and the list already is in the double digits). Going to the dealership next week for the 1941 SW-update, let's see whether that does anything...
  2. Thanks for the reply. I was on the edge of installing it, but when I couldn't find a proper size USB flashdrive, I realised there may be a risk, small as may be, so I decided to call the dealership to have it done. It's a company car after all...
  3. Thanks for sharing! Just wondering for those who downloaded/applied the update: did you use file MOI3_EU_SK_R9410L MU1941 or MOI3_EU_SK_R9410L MU1941_SK20230615S?
  4. Hadn’t noticed any reboots after the update (although it remained at 1896 somehow), sadly that streak ended today when it did once again just after a start this afternoon.
  5. Sorry for the kick, but wondering about some tips: I debadged my O4 yesterday, but still in doubt whether I'll put the SKODA brandname back in black lettering instead of the default chrome ones. What do you guys think?
  6. Honestly, I wouldn't worry about any "weakening": the attachment/clipping points normally remain untouched. Plus, like I mentioned, if you're not getting a retractable tow bar, the cutout (be it OEM) will be larger than required for a fixed/detachable variant. This is what mine looks like, had to duck under the car to make the shot, the cutout itself is absolutely invisible when looking from behind.
  7. Hi Maxi, I used to work in the tow bar business for about a decade, so I've seen a few situations like this before. The larger brands do supply some sort of a cutting template that a dealer/fitter can use to cut out a hole just large enough (but not larger) to fit the tow bar, be it detachable or fixed like mine. If it's not supplied, a fitter could do this themselves if they're somewhat experienced with it. Or you can order a new bumper valance with the pre-cut hole, but it most likely will be the cutout for the retractable tow bar Andy585 mentioned, so it may be a bit bigger than required for your detachable. I even noticed situations where a pre-cut valance had to be cut further because the aftermarket tow bar had the socket located on the other side than the OE variant. TL;DR: find a tow bar with a cutout template supplied, a fitter that can do it, or a pre-cut valance. For reference, this is what mine looks like, I'll make a close up of the rear end when I get home:
  8. Same thing here, got an update notification on Monday and ran it on Tuesday. Somewhere during a trip on Wednesday it notified my that the update was complete, but mine is also still at 1896 🤔
  9. Good morning all, My name is Pieter (just don't pronounce the i in English 😉) and I drive a 4th gen Octavia combi as a company car for a few months now. Honestly, I didn't pick the car or the version myself, but it's spacious (good for the 3 kids) and although it's not (nearly) fast, the combination of MHEV-system and DSG in the e-Tec makes a fine package for the price. Registered an account here for some tips and tricks, guides and other stuff that may improve the Skoda experience for the upcoming years 😉 PS: no time to wash the car before taking a picture 🤐
