  1. To be honest, I am pretty non plussed with my Monte Carlo, had it for exactly one year now. Going for first service next week with only 800 miles on clock! Can't really get into it as I find absolutely no pleasure driving it. I have owned loads of cars, but this really is so boring. The menu system is crap, and sound system has 'no sound'. I could go on, and maybe just showing my age, but this has to be the most boring car I have owned. Absolutely no engagement at all.
  2. Yep, have to agree. I asked dealer not to fit them as I had bought centre caps and nut covers prior to delivery. Covers still wrapped in their sealed bags up in my loft, where they will remain for some years. Anyome want them??? Haha.
  3. This any help? https://skoda.7zap.com/en/cz/fabia/fab/2022-1109/8/807-807000/ Just realised they have now blocked access to the part numbers, used to be free, but seems a fee is now required. Anyway, other than a car breaker, looks like it may be a dealer only part, as the model is quite new as yet.
  4. You must be doing some very short journeys.
  5. Probably. I tend never to use anything other than my laptop or PC to do things like this. Tablet and phone only for basic stuff as they are a total pain to use!
  6. I just checked the Monte Carlo trim and it is clearly listed under 'standard equipment' 'safety and driver assistance'. Also checked 1.5 colour edition and shows with rear discs.
  7. Seems pretty clear from the configurator that the 1.5 MC has rear discs as standard. https://cc.skoda-auto.com/gbr/en-GB/summary-scenic?activePage=summary&color=8X8X&configurationId=C9A070R8&extraEquipments=&id=GBR%3Bskoda%3B2024%3BPJ37PD%3B0%3BGYOKYOK%3Bmda20240514082659%3Ben-GB%3B%3B60007%3B60217&interior=NV&modifiedPages=trimlines|engines&snapshotVersion=c9daccf6-51dd-4656-ab6f-eb556811d979&trimline=PJ7|Monte Carlo6021760007&visitedPages=trimlines|colors|wheels|interiors|engines|extraequipments|services Disk brakes in frontFront assist including emergency brakingLane assistBreakdown kitSeparate daytime running light with automatic headlight control and manual coming and leaving home featureKey for locking system with remote controlAnti-theft alarm system, interior monitoring, backup horn and towing protectionRear parking sensorsThree rear head restraintsThree-point height adjustable front seat beltsProactive servicesCruise control with speed limiterRear shock absorptionAdvanced driver attention and drowsiness monitorDisk brakes in rear
  8. My options from last year. Do not seem available now. Equipment packages Comfort package basic £330 – USB-C port by rear view mirror (charging only) – Variable boot floor – Space-saving spare wheel Practicality Disk brakes in rear £100
  9. Thanks for that, I look forward to replacing the discs/pads in the not too forseeable future then!!! Haha. My Mokka's discs did really surprise me, the fronts I changed three times, I think, but the rears just kept soldiering on. I never use my handbrake, possibly a good or bad thing, but prefer not to use it, then no chance I will be stuck in morning when attempting to drive off.
  10. Only going by my personal experiences. Had my Vauxhall Mokka from new and owned it through nine harsh Lanarkshire winters. Rear discs and pads survived throughout, no maintenance. Previously owned a number of Mk2 Golf GTi's, all with rear discs and zero maintenance. Now don't get me started on all the drum braked cars we have owned. Definitely the crappest is the UP, but every Corsa we have owned, and there have been many, all needed varying degrees of rear brake work in preparation for winter and after. Cheap job if doing myself, but still a pain in the backside.
  11. Having owned possibly some 30 odd cars over the years, and regularly serviced several family members cars over these years, I was only too happy to pay £100 to avoid rear drums/shoes. They can be an absolute nightmare in wet weather, particularly in the winter. My wife's VW UP is the worst ever, common talking point on VW UP forums. Have on numerous occasions had to remove and stripdown/clean them as they became seized solid. I now do it every Autumn and then again pre- MOT time in March, total pain in the ar.e. Any car I have owned with discs and pads on rear has been totally maintenace free. Edit. I asked dealer not to fit the aero trims and just bought centre cap and nut covers. I think those covers will lead to some issues with the alloys and brakes as it looks like it is impossible to thoroughly clean all the road crud and brake show dust from behind them.
  12. Must try that as I just thought it would default automatically to the on state.
  13. Tell them to take a flying feck.
  14. Have you not checked online? I paid £100 for rear discs on my Monte Carlo 1.0.
  15. These figures are obviously off the car's computer, not exactly reliable, in my humble opinion. Anyway, what are people really getting MPG on a tank fill, to tank fill, the only really accurate way surely.
  16. I would generally disconnect the battery for a few minutes for a situation like this, but realise that is not something that many folks would be comfortable doing unless they were handy with the spanners.
  17. Pretty happy with my Monte Carlo other than the very low maximum volume on the head unit. It is the lowest maximum level of any car I have owned. My wife's VW UP with the Beats audio system is unlistenable at anything over 50% volume. My Fabia sits at full volume all the time. What I have noticed it basically reaches maximum volume at about 70%, the following 30% adds nothing. Due its 1st service in a few weeks, so hopefully get to listen to the volume levels of any other Fabias in showroom.
  18. Ordered end of February 2023, collected end of May 2023. So about three months from factory order to delivery.
  19. Pretty sure the car has hydraulic lifters rather than old style tappets. OP have a look at this thread and see if any similarities in sound. https://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/491479-tappets-or-piston-slap/
  20. nta16. Thanks for your input. I was merely making an observation about the battery in the Fabia compared to my Mokka, but having received some rather cryptic, strange, comments, I posted no more. Anyway, the battery is what it is. Seems to be holding up well on my trickle, sorry 'smart' charger, so all is good. Had the car for 9 months, but only driven it a few miles over last 6 months, so less than 500 miles on clock. Hopefully be driving it a bit more soon. Maybe showing my age, but does seem to be some strange people on this Skoda forum!
  21. Bit of a long shot. But did you ever manage to get your volume boosted to a better level?
  22. I never take GAP insurance either, bit of a con methinks. Anyway, generally the first year is covered by your own insurance company as they normally in the event of a total loss in first year will replace like for like. Well they used to. If going for it though, never take the dealer offer. Try ALA GAP Insurance, they will be at leat half of dealer's quote, and quite possibly even more of a price diffence. I enquired when my wife bought her VW UP a few years ago, and ALA were exactly 25% of dealer quote. When I bought my Fabia I advised the salesperson not to waste any of his or my time going through all the different add ons, including GAP. Just personal choice at end of the day, but generally whatever the car salesperson is trying to sell you, you will get it much cheaper buying direct yourself.
  23. I have the same car and same age as your one. Purchased new in May of last year, not driven as much as I would like, but no problem like you seem to have. My only issue is the very poor maximum volume on head unit, really very poor. Did you buy from a dealer with warranty? Or buy from a private seller? Anyway, looks like the car has a problem that previous owner must have known about, and not been fixed prior to its sale to you. I had a Citroen Xsara VTS many moons ago with similar problem, was throttle position sensor (TPS) that was faulty.
  24. That review was of the car fitted with a five speed gearbox, pretty sure the OP was commenting on his six speed box.
  25. Yep, good you have had it removed. Not wishing to be smug, but I was totally right. They had no right adding that to your order, especially as it was already in the system. But even for a new order in January it should not have been applied. Methinks your dealer has responded to your requests for more info. If you had not, they certainly would not have voluntarily removed it. I have no time for car salespeople. Sorry for rant.
