  1. Just sold my Mk4 Monte Carlo. Forgot I had removed the raised boot floor when I bought it, was stored in garage. Anyway, if anyone in Lanark area wants it let me know and we can agree on a price. Basically is brand new. Edit. Apologies if items for sale is not allowed. Please advise.
  2. Would have to agree, the Fabia Mk4 horn sounds like a watery fart. Just another of the things I find so boring about the Fabia. Just never have felt any connection with the car, and have had dozens and dozens of cars over the past almost 50 years of driving. My Monte Carlo is due its second service in two months, only covered about 1300 miles. Not having a go at anyone who is enjoying their Fabia, just my experience is pretty boring. But, I do plan to keep it as I have only used it in dry weather, and never in winter, so basically brand new. Maybe one of my grandchildren will inherit it. Haha.
  3. Yep, I always have rotated my wheels/tyres annually so that they not only last longer as a set, but can replace all four with tyres of my choosing rather than feeling the need to replace like with like. Also in recent years I have being using National Tyres, now owned by Halfords, and if having four tyres fitted they are fitted free at home address. Their online prices have been unbeatable for me for several of our family cars for very many years. Our local mobile fitter is excellent, takes his time cleaning tyre locating edges on wheels with a sanding tool, then paints on a sealant, also has replaced TPMS rubbers and valves rather than just replacing the inner valves. Also balances tyres properly, ie. fitting balance weights, and spinning wheels again to check no more balance weights are required. Really annoys me when a tyre fitter does not do a recheck. Anyway, boring story over, just my tuppence worth.
  4. Have owned a few Corsa 1 litre three pot engines, one from new in 2012 until sold 2024. Never missed a beat and fuel consumption figures were exceptional. Pretty sure the reviews for that particular engine were very good. Also not heard any horror stories about the VW group three cylinder engines.
  5. Just mentioned the Amazon price as that was where I bought mine. I am quite happy paying less than 50 quid a year for my Amazon Prime package, somehow Amazon think I am a student (retired 67 year old. Haha). The viewing content suits my limited interest in programme content, and living in the sticks the free next day delivery is a great bonus. Anyway, each to their own. As I said, I just mentioned Amazon due to me buying from there. Also Amazon returns are so, so pain free.
  6. Yep, A 864S are the required blades, fitted them to my Mk4 as the OE ones are crap. Less tha 20 quid on Amazon. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Bosch-A864S-Aerotwin-Wiperblade-Set/dp/B00W1KKYUI
  7. What? Maybe a bit more detail would help! I just see a sentence with no punctuation or grammar. Really difficult for those of us of an older generation.
  8. I seriously hope so. I have just had another MOT issue with the rear drums/shoes on another car I own, a 12 year old Corsa. Spent well over four hours stripping down and cleaning them prior to MOT test. BUT another fail, fecking hate them. They are such a pain to balance. Discs and pads are the way to go. IMHO.
  9. Aye, some random chit chat would be good in a 'chit chat' section. Like you, not complaining, but when looking for comments about a specific post I am interested. particularly this one about rear disk brakes, random photos and comments is a bit of a turn off. Sorry, just saying!
  10. Bridgestone Turanza 225/45x17". Happy enough so far with them.
  11. Yep, I always keep my wiper blades and parking area clean. Also never use wipers without a wee skoosh first. Keeps the screen scratch free. But due to sods law, some free flying stone will smack into your windsreen, as just happened to my wife's brand new motor with only a few miles on the clock!!!! Pain in the arse new motors, just love my 12 year old Corsa. Haha.
  12. Aye, pretty standard for cars without ignition keys. But does take a while to get used to it.
  13. Note you have mud flaps front and rear. How do you find they fit? Are they snug against body? On previous Vauxhall cars I never found an acceptable fit, with significant gaps where dirt and grit could get in and damage paintowrk.
  14. Thanks for that information.
  15. I have used Eibach on previous cars, but could not find them listed for latest incarnation of the Fabia. Any links?
  16. What make of springs did you opt for? Did this to my Mokka and what a difference it made to general handling, also did a few Mk2 Gti models.
  17. Good to know it has now been activated in newer models. My wife's new Suzuki Swift has it, and a host of other features not in my Fabia MC. Skoda probably realised they would have to sooner rather than later to compete with competition.
  18. Aye, basically it advises you to drive as any sensible person normally would. Eejits will just ignore. Years ago cars leaving the factory were very different to today's beasts. No computer aided design, so cars had to be broken in. I do recall my father's car having a 'running in, please pass' sticker on his back window of a Hillman Avenger. My point was that you should just drive the car normally. Imagine you collected your car from a dealership 200 miles away down a motorway. Would it be wise to drive 200 miles home in same gear at 50 MPH? I do not think so. Motorcyclists like to run in their bikes 'like they stole it'. Beds everything in prerfectly. Anyway, do whatever peeps like, but I will use common sense when using a new car.
  19. Sorry, but you are misunderstanding this. This car has no wireless ability for Apple or Android. I do have wireless Apple CarPlay as I have a cheepo adapter plugged into one of the USB sockets, it remains connected all the time, I do not have to remove/replace. I have no need to plug my phone into any of the USB sockets to access Apple CarPlay, because I have an adapter plugged in. Maybe we are at cross purposes here, but there is deffo no wireless Apple CarPlay or Android Auto on this car, but certainly has two USB C sockets to use as you please!
  20. Feels like I have just returned to the latter part of the last century when reading this post. I am 67 shortly, and have never driven a car in 'break in' mode for well over 30 years. Modern cars just need to be driven as you would drive it all the time.
  21. No. For Android Auto and Apple CarPlay to work, phones need connected via USB. In UK wireless is not enabled. Unless someone can prove me wrong. Edit. Just read your earlier posts. You do not presently own a Mk4 Fabia, so not sure you have any real lived experience of it. I have owned mine for over a year, and it needs phone plugged in for it to work as described. No wireless capability in UK. Apologies if I seem rude, not my intention. Just find forums full of misinformation from peeps who talk nonsense.
  22. Maybe had too many beers this evening, but that seems to indicate that Android Auto, and possibly Apple CarPlay, is wireless in UK. I know that it is not in my car. It is market area dependent from my understanding, and UK not one of them. Needs smartphone plugged in. I bought a wireless CarPlay adapter as it was cheap, and makes life easier, works perfectly. First world problem I know, but easily resolved.
  23. I would say the VW UP has given me, and many other on VW UP Forum, the worst possible experience of that particular set up. But I have had similar issues with all drum/shoe cars over the 50 years of car and motorcycle ownership. Need constant maintenance and setting up, compared to discs/pads that need next to no regular fettling. I do all my own servicing, repairs and maintenance when cars are out of warranty period, which used to be only 12 months, showing my age. Head gasket, clutch, suspension, brakes, etc. I have done it all, but drum and shoes are a total pain in the a..e. Haha.
  24. After the hassle of cleaning my wife's present, but going soon, VW UP's brake shoes over past several years, that was the deciding factor in paying the 100 quid for the discs/pads. I am done with rear drums for good now. My Mokka had discs on the rear, and never had any issues with them, yes they rust, but never needed any maintenance in almost 10 years, and never failed MOT test on rear brakes. So I figured I have potentially saved myself loads of potential hassle. I had a couple of Mk2 Golf Gti's with rear discs, never had any bother. I dread MOT time with rear drums as getting them balanced across the axle can be quite time consuming also, never mind the cleaning. Anyway, I have made my observations regarding rear drums quite clear. Possibly where I live is an issue, very rural and 2 mile drive each way until we reach the main road via thirld world B road covered in silage, hay, grass and sheep and coo s.it, never mind the pot holes.!!
