  1. Seems the error has shown up again after running the obd reader, but haven't noticed anything odd whilst driving and checking coolant levels (recently had to change the oil over weekend)...
  2. Just report back the car has now had its oil change with 5W30...the mechanic was very surprised the extracted oil was 'proper' black which has me wondering if Skoda ever did the oil change back in April 🤔
  3. @toot, Correct! I was told by Marshall Skoda (on the phone several time) that the car was serviced with 0W20 even though I gave them my car details and reg... Tbh maybe the car had correctly been serviced with 0W30 or 5W30 per the invoice, but at the time I did not get any Google response to 'Castrol EDGE LL111 0' (Why? Could have been simpler!) And so contacted the people who last serviced the car to ensure I buy the right engine oil to top up...and so here we are with the car having been topped up with 1L of 0W20... And to ensure peace of mind going to a local mechanic later today to do oil change whilst contemplating avoiding Marshall Skoda for the next car servicing
  4. @toot Indeed! For now I just need to ensure I have the right oil in car and that no further damage has occurred from this fiasco...will be a good discussion with the mechanic in the morning 😅
  5. Thanks @toot, I'm pretty much a newbie on this type of car and have always depended on dealership to service my cars (kept to the usual annual servicing rituals or when the service indicator comes on 😅) Missed one of your last comment, per my understanding, it is the original CTHE engine (I made sure not to pick up a CAVE one based on history)
  6. @toot, Either way for peace of mind (given my naivety and listen to them by topping up 1L of 0W20 last week) will do the oil change to 5W40 tomorrow 😊 Just states qty. Is 5.00... did not get L away with me... I just paid the usual Skoda service price (to get the usual maintenance done along with inspection and to get the stamp)
  7. On the invoice is Castrol EDGE LL111 0, at the time I could not get any Google results and had called Skoda dealership (where the car was serviced) several times of which they kept on insisting 0W20 even after I told them motorshops where systems were stating otherwise 🤷 Anyway topped up 1L of this and had booked in a diagnostic check with them for end of this month, however based on comments here I have the car booked with the local mechanic to change the oil and filter tomorrow and have made a formal complaint to Skoda
  8. Thanks @toot! Really disappointed in that an official dealership has done this...will be on the phone shortly
  9. @toot, This was done by Marshall Skoda back in April after I bought the car privately (figured it made sense to do a service and check at the time), after the engine oil light appearing and ringing them to check what oil they used at the time of servicing, they were adamant they used 0W20... Called another dealership (Group1 Skoda) they say my car would typically use 0W30 so a bit lost? Which engine oil grade is best for car? have booked in a diagnostic check on oil consumption with the Group1 Skoda
  10. Hi all, I recently discovered that in my last service at Skoda (April 2023) that they used 0W20 and after 700 miles had to top up the oil, is this right? 😕 Fabia VRS mk2 2013
  11. Here's a video of it...did check whether it was magnetic and can confirm it's not... PXL_20230520_123410894.mp4
  12. Makes sense, now I'm curious to know what was done previously (previous owner)...if that's the case
  13. Hi all, Random find and unsure... Was changing the headlight bulb and found this weird looking metal stick, not sure if it belongs to any component in the car (or maybe something left behind by the mechanic)? Paranoid may have broke something lol
  14. Reporting back, Probably my own rookie mistake (running the diagnostic without turning the engine on) but everything seems to look good so far since my last report, no related error display...will continue to monitor
  15. Happy to report back I've successfully managed to fit the rear view mirror with thanks to all the advices provided by you all here 🙇‍♂️ Basically wired it to rear windscreen wipers piggy backing off the dash cam installation Bought the mirror here which came with all the bits (no need for the bracket adaptor)
  16. Oh thanks @globalste, I'm also in the process of hard wiring the dash cam too so this makes sense
  17. @globalste just curious, was this wiring done via fuse piggyback? or was the rear wiper wires in the headline trim somewhere?
  18. Yup! Have cleared it so will check again later in the week but will also follow up on the advices above... Appreciate all the support and advices from everyone here
  19. Thanks @toot will keep an eye on this for sure!
  20. Yup in the previous service (2022) according to the service book I have (been serviced every year with the last few by independent garages)... Running super unleaded for sure Will certainly look at the coolant level for sure thanks @toot!
  21. Just Oil & Filter, pollen filter and air filter, apparently the spark plugs were replaced the the previous service in 2022...I did mention to them that I had just purchased the car and thought the car may be a bit noisy on cold start but they said everything seems good
  22. @toot, Only just checked today when my obd arrived earlier this week... have owned the car since start of April and had it fully serviced at Skoda dealership on 11th April at 60k with no mention of such issues 😕
  23. Hi all, Got round to playing with my obd reader and tried it on my car to discover an error P226100, car seems fine but hoping to learn more, should I be concerned? Thanks in advance
